A farewell celebration January 10, 2019, paid tribute to his 55-year tenure, including remarks from several Sisters of Providence; Rod Hochman, president and CEO, Providence St. Joseph Health; and other staff.

Lew started with Providence Hospital as a janitor in 1963 at the urging of a sister. After graduating from Seattle University, he opened a print shop at the hospital, which he ran for 30 years. As the health system grew, so did Lew’s responsi-bilities, and he soon added mail-room supervisor to his duties. Lew was recognized with a Mother Joseph Award in 2014 in honor of his significant accomplishments and contributions to the Sisters of Providence. l
