WHY CHOOSE US?Our one year placement offers you a unique business experience where you could be working in a busy 24/7 restaurant with plenty of responsibility. It is an opportunity for personal development and a chance to learn first-hand from a specialist team throughout your year in the industry.

Many recruiters warn that graduates who have had no previous work experience at all are less likely to be successful during the selection process. However, our placements are a great way to deepen your understanding of our business and boost your career prospects, with McDonald’s or elsewhere. We provide an opportunity to develop transferable skills that will be essential in your future career - teamwork, leadership, communication, problem solving, organisational skills and many more.

A placement year with McDonald’s will give you an edge in the graduate job market and a great foundation for your future career.

ABOUT McDONALD’S:McDonald’s is the biggest family restaurant business in the world, serving more than 3 million customers a day in the UK alone. If you’re up for a challenge and fancy the opportunity of working for a global, dynamic and progressive brand, then McDonald’s is the place to be.

Training and development has been at the heart of the business throughout the 40 years in the UK, investing over £43million in development programmes for our employees each year. We have a proven track record of career progression, with the entire UK Operations executive team starting their careers in restaurants. If you’ve got the drive and ambition, there’s no limit to how far you can go.

ABOUT OUR RESTAURANT INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENTS: Our Restaurant Industrial Placement scheme consists of four stages and mirrors the Trainee Manager programme that we offer to graduates. The timings given are a general guide and will vary from person to person, dependant on your own pace of learning.

STAGE ONEYou will start by undertaking an intensive training period to learn all the basics, including working in the kitchen, front counter, dining area and Drive-thru.

STAGE THREEOnce you have successfully completed the Crew Trainer role, the Shift Management Development programme commences immediately.

STAGE FOURBy this stage you will have the skills and knowledge to co-ordinate People, Product and Equipment

to achieve a smooth, consistent and profitable business; delivering outstanding Quality, Service and Cleanliness to each customer every time.

“I feel that McDonald’s placement has given me opportunities to work within

a wide range of aspects within the business. This has allowed me to see what areas I am keenly strong in, and how I may want to pursue these areas

into long-term career goals.”

Ben Wood,BA Hons Business Studies,

Plymouth University

“I think this experience will be invaluable when doing my final year at university as I now have experiences that I can draw upon from a managerial perspective. Something that only a job like this can

give you while still studying.”

Karl Towning,BA Hons Business & Management,

University of Lincoln

“I found for the year to be a success you need to have excellent people skills, be a quick learner, be motivated and

enthusiastic. The support and training is there, but due to the intensity, you need to give it your all and be prepared for a challenge, but the results and outcome can be incredible and great for the CV.”

Adam Dinwiddy, BA Hons Business Management,

University of Brighton

“The opportunity to have real hands-on management experience was the biggest

appeal about McDonald’s. It’s not a company that shy away from delegating responsibility, we’ve got about 120 staff on the books at our restaurant, which was fairly daunting at the beginning, but now it’s fantastic to say that I have a responsibility of managing them to

accomplish the company goals.”

Ben Sinclair,BA Hons Business Management,

Nottingham Trent University
