Group on Residual Restrictions

PROVISIONAL LISTS ?OF RESTRICTIONS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE REVIEW; OF RESIDUAL RESTRICTIONS

1. In its last report the Group on Refcidual Restrictions suggested that it would be useful to extend the review of residual restrictions to cover all products notified by'the less-developed countries as being of export interest to them, including those notified in the context of the Kennedy Round. The Committee on Trade and Development concurred in this? suggestion and the secretariat was asked to collect the necessary information early in 1966 for the next review (sec document COM.TD/B/3 and COM.TD/12).

2. Accordingly the secretariat has sent to individual developed contracting parties a questionnaire, which is similar in form to the questionnaire used last year and in which is set out a provisional list of products on which information is requested. This list includes those products among those listed in the Annex to document COM.TD/B/W/2 which are understood to be subject to import restrictions in the country concerned but which are not among the products covered in the first review held in 1965.

3. These lists are circulated for the information of the Group and are subject to correction in the light of the replies to the questionnaire to be received from the contracting parties concerned.

Explanatory Note

1. The following lists contain items which are among the approximately 450 tariff items notified in the context of the Kennedy Round as being of export interest to less-developed countries, and which, according to the data available to the secretariat, appear to be subject to import restrictions in the countries concerned.

2. The lists do not take into account restrictions affecting products which have already been subject to examination in the Group on Residual Restrictions, or restrictions affecting cotton textile items covered by the Long-Term Arrangement on International Trade in Cotton Textiles.
