Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana GPA: 3.32/4.00 Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering December 2016
Work Experience
Eastman Chemical Company; Kingsport, Tennessee Selected for 3 semester Co-Op
Plant Engineering, World Wide Construction and Engineering May 2016 – Aug. 2016
Acetate Fibers and Tow Division
Developed device used for employee protection in hazardous area; created safeguard to eliminate
accidental use of machine while safety device is in place; utilized existing structures for integration with
minimal field construction.
Modeled custom brackets for upgrade on current system; met customer requirements while maintaining
level of adaptability for ease of merging designs; improvements will increase system’s life-span.
Durables and Medical Application Development Lab, Polymer Technology Division Aug. 2015 – Dec. 2015
Audited molding procedure in development lab; isolated and removed sources of significant variability;
implemented revised procedure; documented and trained lab: lowered variability from 15% to <2%.
Reverse-engineered drawings of customer part; conducted Mold Flow analysis of resulting mesh; combined with
knowledge of fitness for use criteria to recommend particular polymer grades to customer for production.
Expanded internal database of coefficient of friction behavior to include plastic-on-plastic information by
designing, optimizing, and conducting experiments on a versatile Tribometer instrumentation; provided support to
team in response to customer questions pertaining to parts in moving contact with one another.
Plant Engineering, World Wide Construction and Engineering May 2015 – Aug. 2015
Polymer Manufacturing Division
Designed tool to increase workplace safety for previously dangerous task; conducted finite element analysis on
part to ensure factor of safety; collaborated with a fellow engineer to increase the products manufacturability;
marketed design to department team leaders for Issue for Construction (IFC) approval.
Revamped existing support systems for manufacturing lines; enhanced factor of safety with foresight of future
process upgrades; customized designs for implantation with minimal to no dismantlement of adjacent processes.
Assisted senior engineers with rapid modeling via SolidWorks for high priority project; responsible for correct
part dimensioning given a basic design outline while providing sufficient minimum load requirements;
successfully completed tasks in less than a 24-hour turnaround time.
Leadership
CAD Camp July 2016
Aided in teaching middle and high school students computer aided design using Autodesk Fusion 360
Engineers for a Sustainable World Oct. 2013 – May 2015
Leader of Arduino based project to limit wasted household electricity; responsible for developing project plan,
delegation of sub-projects and team management.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers Corporate Outreach Committee Feb. 2015 – May 2015
Liaison between Purdue chapter and industry; responsible for facilitating recruitment of members and for
planning plant tours in the area.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers Rube Goldberg Team Jan. 2014 – Dec. 2014
Led construction sub-team to zip a zipper in no less than 50 steps.
