Fall 2014-Sp 2015Design VII-VIII

Designed a Community Cultural Center with a Concert Hall as the main subject. They supported the emergence of a new neighborhood, the growth of its culture and also helped cover its residents’ social necessities.

Reformation and “extension” of unused train tracks for the design of a public park that interacted with nature and brought sustainable systems and biodiversity to the neighborhood. Train trucks were also used as water canals to drive water out of the site in case of flooding. Designed program for a neighborhood that lacks educational, cultural and social spaces. The program provides places to interact, relax and learn about their own culture. Designed Cultural Center following the train tracks “fan” pattern. An organized design that implies the objective of order in an emerging neighborhood. The fan design provided patters for circulation and connected main spaces to outside park. The Concert Hall was designed to become an iconic building in LIC. This would help poeple identify with their neighborhood.

Spring of 2014Design VI

Design of a public community center with an indoor swimming pool as the main subject. It included the design of a sustainable HVAC system.

Combination of traditional ventilation systems with modern HVAC systems to create a sustainable and effective air circulation system. Detailed research, analysis and documentation of site conditions. Design of communal center always highlighting the context and surrounding environment. Design of a special structure by incorporating the weight of the pool as part of the structure. The weight of the water helps the arch with its tension and prevents it from spreading apart. Construction of detail models that explained structure in detail.

Fall of 2013Design V

A member of the team that designed a new street and open space pattern for Manhattan Lower East Side; local natural resources determined the main systems in this new self-sufficient yet interdependent city.

Analysis and documnetation of the Rising Currents project presented at the MOMA museum. Site analysis that studied the environmental and civil conditions of the Lower East Side in Manhattan after Hurricane Sandy. Designed a new urban pattern that suggested adaptation of the city to a new environment after the effects of the hurricane. The design also addressed the issues of constantly rising water levels around Manhattan. Built several models that represented in good detail the different proposed city patterns.
