Work experiences

January - February 2015Assistant - Perth Writers FestivalI have been trusted to participate in the last month of organisation of the festival: I had to work under a tight deadline, communicate with our chairs and writers. A lot of our guests were coming from all around the world, such as Elisabeth Guilbert, author of eat, Pray, love. The festival was a success and proved that I could integrate into a team quickly and operate in a high pressure environment.REFERENCE: Katherine DORRINGTON Program Manager: Perth Writers FestivalTel: 08 64 88 86 38Email: [email protected]

november 2014 - PresentAssistant Manager in Training Jr duty/FreePerth International airportAs I keep searching to enter the professional graphic design world, I have been chosen to work for the duty free store of the airport. I started as a salesperson, before slowly evolving to an assistant manager role. My ability to communicate well and learn quickly, along with my social skills has made me good all-rounder. i Am convinced thAt i Am the good All rounder You Are looking for1. I am used to working independently and

under pressure. Working for Teensoul magazine has prepared me to respect tight deadlines. 2. In obtaining my 3 diplomas, I have gained

knowledge of the varied aspects of marketing, especially how to target an audience and how to

put a selling strategy into place.3. I worked in the prestigious publishing house based in Paris, Thames & Hudson, where I have taken part to both editorial and creative tasks. Being involved with this international publisher has been one of the best experiences of my life,

as I succeeded to work meticulously under a great deal of pressure. I therefore feel ready to

take on any challenges you have to offer. 4. During my Master’s degree, I have

learnt how the world of printing works:the large choice of grams of paper, the different printing devices and binding techniques to get to the desired effect while holding the product. Being aware of the possibilities allows me to

push the creativity, while keeping in mind how the final product is going to be realised.

i love grAPhic design, And i Am good At it

I ended my Master’s degree with the best grade of the class in desktop Publishing.

I am currently voluntarily working for Perth based magazine Teensoul as a graphic

designer since February 2014. Being hired in an australian enterprise has allowed me to put my

design and communication skills to practice. I am solely responsible for developing

the graphic design elements of a 45 page magazine: I receive the articles, I look for

perfect matching illustrations, photographs or I create the illustrations myself. I then exchange

back and forth with the editor and the art director, until my layout is approved and ready

to be published.

i hAve exPerience in brAnd reAlignment

As a final Master’s assessment of my Magazine course in Oxford, I had to pick a magazine

which sales were failing. I had to find out the reasons and search for creative solutions.

I successfully redesigned the entire magazine, from the logo to the spreads: discover part of

this work pages 21 to 23!I also totally revamped Teensoul, which had

an unprofessional look. the final result is now sleeker, modern and young. You can visualise

spreads from the last issue from page 8.Being in charge of the image of an enterprise

is a challenge I particularly enjoy as it represents a lot of responsibility keeping a

brand current and fresh.

teensoul, pages 8 to 16Teensoul is a free magazine for teenagers, published by the Perth based not for profit group called Colosoul. As the head designer, I have completely revamped the magazine. In addition to that, I modernised the logo by making it all white and giving more body to the two dashes. I have also added some depth by creating a geometric background. Below, the logo as it was before, and my reimagining. From page 8 to 15, discover some spreads published in Teensoul’s past issue. Page16 is teensoul’s media kit cover: this artwork is used for all teensoul’s official documents.

Advertisement, pages 17 to 19This advertorial was commissioned by Alta-1 school and was published in Teensoul magazine. since the subject is an alternative schooling for students with learning difficulties or with complicated backgrounds, I had been asked to create an advert that expresses despair and hope at the same time.

business cards, page 20In order to showcase my abilities with Illustrator in imagining logos, I have chosen random professions and created their business cards.

house beautiful, pages 21 to 23This is part of a student project for the Magazine course at the Oxford Brookes University. As a small group, we had to pick a magazine design that needed to be remade: we decided to go with the house decoration magazine house Beautiful. The design I came up with enhances the magazine title on a wooden background. The silver of the lettering reminds the reader of the shiny steel you can find in his bathroom or kitchen. All the cover, layout and app design that you are about to see has been done by me.
