WARMING UP YOUR MARKETAfter you run through your own list of contacts, call everyone you know:

“I’m launching a new brand in the [INSERT GEOGRAPHICAL AREA] market. It’s a high-end, non-toxic skincare line that takes years off of your appearance in seconds. The best part is, the products in this brand not only work quickly, but yield long-lasting results as well. I am looking to share this opportunity with local retailers. I have an introductory offer that will really inspire them. Who does your hair, your nails, or cracks your back? If you could help me get to them, they will love you and I’ll be so grateful.”

When you say this, one of three things will happen:

1. They will want to know what the product is! You either have a sale, a new distributor, or a host for a home party.

2. They will know a few good people, maybe even in categories you haven’t thought of.

3. When you get the names and locations, it doesn’t matter if they make the contact for you because when you make the sales call, you have a warm entry. Start the sales call with “[INSERT YOUR CONTACT’S NAME] thought of you!”

First, research the facility you’re approaching. Know what services they offer and what their price points are so you’ll know ahead of time how Jouvé can fit with their current product/service offering.

If approaching a facility where you don’t already have a contact, follow this example converstaion with the gatekeeper (typically a receptionist or assistant):

You: “Hi there, my name is [INSERT NAME] and I’m a Regional Sales Director with a new, high end, clean-label skincare line, Jouvé. Can I please speak with the facility manager or owner?”

If you get to speak with this person right away, introduce yourself and complement their facility and treatment offering. Then ask if you can chat with them about carrying your product line in their facility.

If the manager/owner is not available, follow the below:

Gatekeeper: “They’re not available right now.”

You: “All right, I’d love to leave a sales sheet for them.

When is a good time to come back and catch them?” Only leave product samples if they agree to a meeting or provide contact information for the owner/manager.

If you can’t make an initial connection in-person, it may take several tries to get in touch with the correct person at the organization. Follow up, follow up, follow up.

Once you get in contact with an individual with purchasing power, use the following notes in your conversation:

• “Hello, my name is [INSERT NAME] and I’m the Regional Sales Director for a new, clean-label, anti-aging skincare line, Jouvé. Our products are manufactured in the US and our company is quickly expanding into Europe and Asia Pacific.”

• “Currently, our anti-aging system consists of two products. The first is our Instant Tightening and Restoring Serum that works to smooth fine lines and wrinkles in just 90 seconds, but also contains powerful peptides that help diminish the appearance of wrinkles over time. Our second product is our Dark Spot Corrector and Brightening Cream, which uses an oil-soluble form of Vitamin C to brighten the complexion and lessen the appearance of dark spots and hyper-pigmentation.”

• “Both of our products have undergone rigorous third party clinical testing and I’d be happy to provide any additional data you’re looking for in this regard. From the looks of your facility and the products you carry, I really think Jouvé would be a great fit for your

customer base.”

DEMONSTRATIONAfter you’ve gone through product highlights, ask if you can demo the Tightening Serum.

• If the person agrees to let you demo on them, you’ll need to have them remove their make-up (if applicable) only in the area you’re applying the Tightening Serum. Make sure to carry make-up wipes with you.

• Take a “before” photo (with their permission) or hand them a mirror and only demo the product on one side of the face.

Emphasize how rare it is to find a product that can be marked-up 100% and how much they’ll make with each purchase at the retail price.

“Your results were so incredible and I know your clients will love these products too. The company has just released really fantastic wholesale pricing, let’s go through the numbers.”

After you’ve covered pricing and perks, you have several options:

Approach from the perspective of an account manager.

Rule of Thumb

Always stay in rapport. Pace, then lead.

Objections are common, narrow, and predictable.

I need time to think about it…

“Take your time. A decision like this is important. It looks like you make wonderful product mix choices. This is my territory, I will be back to answer any questions, give demos, and structure this to work best for you.”

It’s too expensive!

“Compared to what? Yes, next to drugstore products, but certainly looking at your area, your clients, and your products, we are coming in below market.”

I already carry another line.

“Oh, tell me about it. Yes, that’s a popular brand. Many of my clients carry that too. They feel that Jouvé works with that line nicely.”

Is this network marketing?

“Do you like network marketing?”

If yes.

“Wow this is your lucky day, we are the perfect combination of network and traditional retailing. You are going to love our program!”

If no.
