Retaining Wall Industries has been delivering high quality Commercial and Residential retaining wall works to South Australians for over 35 years.

35 YEARS +

Having experienced continual growth and development over the years we have become industry leaders in Retaining Wall Construction, specialising in Commercial and Larger Residential projects.

GROWTH

Adelaide’s leading builders and civil contractors chose RWI as their go to Retention Contractor. Why? – We are told by our clients it is because of our Capability, expertise, quality control and price.

Moss rock, bluestone, concrete sleeper, gabion, crib, concrete panel, segmented block walls and core-filled block walls. Price range from $220 - $650 sqm (ex GST). Most common constructed walls in Adelaide are concrete sleeper walls ranging between $270 - $370 sqm (ex GST) on average.

The least expensive rock walls take up room; you sacrifice space for cost. Boundary walls with fencing suit sleeper walls. All other walls are chosen for aesthetics and possibly practicality.

If you cut (excavate) or fill your land adjacent to a boundary it is the responsibility, and at the cost, of whoever alters the level of the land. In some cases, one owner will cut and another will fill to the boundary; in these cases the costs are shared on a percentage basis.

Combining with neighbours where there is a joint liability can save a great deal of money. To determine liability, we need you and your neighbour’s Site & Drainage Plan showing bench/floor/contour levels. We will determine percentage liability for you and your neighbour.

Some fill walls may be required before earthworks but generally walls should be constructed around the time the slab is laid and before studwork. This will allow for clear access for machinery and concrete trucks. Reduced access is very costly.

Once your home is constructed access is often cut off for large machines. Having to use small machines or dig by hand will extend construction time and will cost more money. Do it once – Do it right!

Who is Liable?

When is the Best Time to Build My Retaining Wall?

Will I Have a Guarantee?

Strictly to the code, all walls with a fence on top with a combined height exceeding 2.1m require council approval. Most builders arrange approvals in your building package. If not, RWI can arrange for approval.

Most councils will allow walls under 1m without written approval, however it is always recommended to consult with your relevant council prior to

commencing any wall construction.

Do I Need Approval?

How Long Will It Take to Construct? Actual work time on site for most domestic walls is around a week. However, booking a spot in our production schedule can be considerably longer. Council approval can also delay on-site crews up to 8 weeks.

Weather, latent conditions and rock can influence commencement and completion times.

RWI guarantee you from wall failure for 10 years. In 35 years and over 5000 walls constructed, we have not had one claim! However, we have replaced many that have failed by other wall installers.

Guarantees are only as good as the company offering them. A 10-year guarantee from a company that folds in 5 years isn’t worth the risk. Choose wisely, RWI have constructed retaining walls for over 35 years.

Great work guys I will make sure that I recommend you guys to work colleagues and friends.”

Yes, if rock drilling or breaking is required or latent conditions such as ground water become apparent then there may be variations to the initial quote. Occasionally, wall heights required on site can vary from the plans submitted which can also vary the quote. Generally, prices remain as quoted, and in the instance where variations occur you are consulted immediately.

All quotes should show you the number of stages, type and quantity of steel, concrete allocated, drill times, length and height of all walls. Options such as hot-dipped galvanised steel and drainage and backfill should also be offered. If your quote does not include specific information, how do you know what you are paying for? RWI have full disclosure to you.

You are allocated an Estimator, Project Programmer and Client Liaison. Once on site, you will have a Site Supervisor specifically briefed on your project. You will be notified of commencement and are welcome on site at any time.

We answer phones, return messages and emails promptly. For everyone’s convenience, we maintain our paper trails for reference and actions. Your interaction is always encouraged.

Quality Assurance

At Retaining Wall Industries, we believe there are three really important

factors when choosing a Retaining wall builder… Quality, Capability

and Experience.

RWI already have the capability and the experience, so as industry

leaders we decided to implement Quality Assurance processes to

provide our clients with documentation supporting the quality of our

work and provide that little bit of extra peace of mind. RWI are the first

retaining wall builder in Adelaide to use this process and provide this

documentation.

An Inspection & Test Plan is completed on every project regardless of

size and is signed off by a supervisor at certain hold and inspect points.

This is then signed off by the Client and a copy given to you on the

completion of your project along with your 10 year Guarantee.

In addition to this process, RWI have also introduced Independent

Certification for your project if ordered.

For a consultancy fee From $390 + GST RWI can organise an

independent certifier to attend your project during construction for a site

inspection. Upon completion of inspection you will receive a certificate

signed off by the Building Certifier stating that your retaining wall has

been built in accordance with the engineered specification supplied ie.

Pier depth, pier width, steel size etc.
