Retelling the Parable of the Ten Virgins

There were 10 basketball players. Which represent the Kingdom of Heaven.

The coach handed out a training packet to do over the summer.

The Players

• There were 5 wise players • There were 5 foolish players

Over the summer

The five wise players have completed their assignments and worked hard all summer the 5 foolish have done nothing but they lie and fill in their charts.

Time for tryouts

The 5 wise do very well at the tryouts and the 5 foolish do terrible. The coach tells the 5 wise congratulations on making the team and the others he hopes that they learned their lesson.

God still loved them even though they made a mistake. That is why he died on the cross to forgive all our sins.

Jill’s Version

At that time, the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten students in religion class. The teacher gave them an assignment that was due in three days and would count as half of their grade.

Five of the students were wise and worked on the assignment for all three days missing out on pool parties, shopping, and hanging out;

they worked till late at night, getting it completed and overachieving. The five foolish students went to the pool party, shopped the next night, and just hung out on the last day. Totally forgetting about their end-of-the-year assignment.

The next day, right as the bell rang, the five foolish students

rushed into religion class, greeted by the five wise students already in their desks with their assignments out.

The teacher started collecting the assignments and paused at the foolish

students’ desks expectantly. They shook their heads and the teacher sent them out into the hall to finish their assignment.

While the foolish students were in the hall the wisestudents got As on their

assignments and got to enjoy a free homework pass. On top of that, they got to watch a movie in class and enjoy popcorn.

When the foolish students heard about this, they hurried to finish their assignments.But, when they tried to hand

them in, the teacher would not accept them. “No,” he started, “You did not complete your assignments on time like your fellow students. I will not reward you. Go back out to the hall and work on your assignments for the rest of the class period.

So listen, and listen well children of God. You

will never know when someone will surprise you, or when Jesus may come, so always be ready until the point of death. For, you will not have another chance.
