I n t r o d u c t i o n The Retired Services Initiative (RSI) was
developed to provide support to the
Assistant Secretary of the Army
(Manpower and Reserve Affairs) (ASA
(M&RA)) in implementing the Army
Retiring Soldiers (ARS) Recognition
Program. The goal of the program is to
build a strong sense of community within
the Army family – to include ARS and to
increase awareness of the Army and its retired Soldiers among hometown America. Building a
“community of support within and for the Army family” was and remains the overarching goal.
The ARS Commendation Program mission is intended to recognize all Army’s Retiring Soldiers
(to include Reserve/National Guard), in accordance with statue, by providing ARS a United States
flag, and policy, by providing an Army Retired Soldier’s pin; build and provide a base of goodwill
and community, but specifically to include Retirees and their families and get Retirees more
involved in Army support and recruiting.
The production, distribution and presentation of the ARS Commendation provides an opportunity
to engage with retiring Soldiers and affords them an elegant means of “wearing their Army pride
for all to see”. In doing so, that display of pride and service supports the entire Army family and
speaks directly to the critical component of “Army Strong”.
This guide is designed to give you the information needed to order retirement packages. Should
you have any questions regarding the technical functionality of this site, please contact the
technical support desk at 210.354.1661 x3. Should you have any questions regarding the RSI
