From My Heart:

The churchwide picnic at our house on October 17 was all we hoped it would be! Thank you for coming to the Stephens’ home, eating, laughing, sharing, and building new relationships. Over 100 people were there and I got to give away a lot of neat, and not so neat, items!

Expressions of Gratitude

Important!

In an effort to make sure we have enough food for our Wednesday Night Supper we are asking everyone to re-sign-up. If you want to have a standing reservation (this only needs to be done once) place a check mark by the box indicating you want this option on the back of your registration card under Wednesday Night Supper Reservations. If you prefer to let us know on a weekly basis, then each week, fill out the supper reservation portion of the registration card. Each Wednesday night while going through the food line, you will need to drop your money in the jar and check your name off the list provided. If your name is not on the list (you do not have a reservation), please check with Donna Knight (chef) before eating. Thanks for your cooperation!

Music Meditations

In Acts 20:24 Paul states, ―However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.‖

How many of us would be willing to give up all else for God? Notice that Paul states, ―…I consider my life worth NOTHING to me…‖ I believe that when we strive to reach that point where nothing else but Jesus matters, we as believers will see a great revival. We will be able to lay aside impure motives and God will bless us beyond measure. When we realize that what we are doing for God could be done by someone else who is better fit to do it, it is a humbling experience. The truth is, God put us in the positions we are in, not because He needs us, but because He wants us to participate in His plans. That being said, when we are placed in a position we must do it with a pure heart and with all our strength and come to the realization that nothing is more important than getting the message out.

What a great joy it would be if we took this kind of seriousness in our work for God. Paul had a passion not for self but for moving the word of God and spreading it throughout the world. Paul’s passion ran so deep that he was willing to die for the cause of Christ. How freeing it would be to realize that nothing else matters! How freeing it would be to work together, serve without the hope of recognition or impure hearts and serve with the cause of winning people to Christ no matter what the cost.

Pray this month that God will re-ignite the fire and the passion for Him in your life. Pray for opportunities to witness and invite people to church. Pray that God will open up opportunities for you to serve Him and for Him to point out any areas in your life in which your motives are not pure and your focus is off of Him. Continue the Good Fight and remember that your ―heart matters‖. Important Dates:

Just a Note from Mrs. Joyce…. November offers us a traditional time for reflecting and giving gratitude to God for the blessings in our lives. When we stop to think about it though, how can we be anything but grateful to Him on a year-round basis? Thankfulness also produces a peaceful spirit within us. Without a doubt we could all use an extra measure of peace in our lives especially during the upcoming busy holiday season from Thanksgiving through Christmas and the New Year. I have a challenge…begin today listing things you are grateful for in your life. Continue adding to your list every day this month. On Thanksgiving Day, quietly and reverently present your list to God. Thank you for allowing me to serve with you at Silver Springs.

Tim’s Youth Talk: Wow! October ended with God doing an awesome work amongst our students. Three students, for the very first time in their life, gave their heart to God. I love how God allows us to be in the same room when his Spirit works in peoples lives. November will start with a group of students headed east on a mission trip. Please lift these students up in your prayers that God would do a wonderful work in their life. As always, it's such a privilege to serve along side you in student ministry. Go God! TIM

A Word for the Women! A truck load of coats was delivered to Alcoa, TN on October 25. Our youth will be distributing these in November on their mission trip. They will take part in the Appalachian ―Coats for the Cold‖ ministry. Thanks church for your great response to the request for coats! A big thanks to David Ward for delivering the coats. Great TEAM WORK for GOD! We are co-workers with God!

A Dinner of Thanks was held on October 26. Individuals had a chance to invite someone to dinner who had made a difference in their lives. The guests were honored with a memento from their invitee.

Our mission project for November will be ―Operation Christmas Child‖. Join the forces to send boxes to children around the world. We will be filling shoe boxes with gifts for these children. For information on the contents of the boxes, visit http://www.samaritanspurse.org or call Kayla Wood @ 804-2941. Our Girls in Action will be heading up this project and the deadline to drop off your shoebox will be November 17th.

Mt. Juliet Help Center is our on-going mission project. We collect non-perishables and personal hygiene items at the Women of Power bulletin board. The items are

dropped off at the center where volunteers distribute them to those in need

throughout our community.

We are all really busy planning for the holidays; however, it is time to think of spring. Our annual Spring Retreat will be held at Linden Valley camp April 15-17, 2011. Our worship leader will be Kim Bolton (kimbolton.org). The cost is $150 and includes two nights lodging, six meals and four inspiring and encouraging sessions led by Kim Bolton. A commitment and $50 deposit is due in the church office ASAP.

Loving the Lord and serving along side of you,
