Thought for Today “Your Spiritual Gifts were not given to you for your benefit but for the benefit of others, just as other people were given gifts for your benefit.” - Rick Warren

Prelude "Partita on Ein Feste Burg" by Andrew Clarke

Invitation to Worship

*Processional Hymn Called as Partners in Christ’s Service (#581)

*Responsive Call to Worship Leader: You have called us to this place, O Lord. People: Each one of us is unique, with differing gifts and talents. Leader: Yet each talent represented here is valuable in God’s realm. People: Lord, help us find ways in which we can use our talents for healing and

hope. Leader: Come, let us praise the Lord who has called us here. People: Let us open our hearts and spirits to God’s word for us. AMEN.

*Unison Prayer It is so easy for us, Lord, to diminish the gifts You have given us. We have come to believe that either we are experts in some areas or we know nothing. Each of us has been given special talents and gifts that can be used to help others, but for some reason we have chosen not to use these gifts, deciding that they are unimportant or not needed. Forgive us when we decide not to act. Help us to see the blessings that You have poured into our lives, and may we discover the special talents that we have. Open the doorways of service and let the gates swing wide on the “grease of grace,” that we may go forth to serve You in this world. In the name of Christ, we pray. AMEN.

Prayers of the People

Lord’s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven. Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Invitation To Give

Offertory “Pie Jesu” by Andrew Lloyd Webber Laura Enslin and Lidia McDaniel

*Doxology and Prayer of Thanksgiving (#34)

Scripture Reading Psalm 139:14 (TLB) (p. 643) Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it.

Scripture Reading Romans 12:4-8 (NIV) (p. 1156) For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Leader: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.
