Rev. Burns became an Ordained Full Elder in 2013. She has a deep love for all people as written in scripture, 1 John 4:8, God is love. As a Pastor, she is motivated by the scripture of the shepherd leaving the flock to search for the one lost sheep, but adds that she is not a “lone ranger” in that task. She is passionate and intelligent with giftedness in preaching, collaborative team ministry, and visioning. Rev. Burns is married to John Burns, who is the primarycaretaker for their son Micah, and who is also helping to plant a church in Springfield, OH. Micah was born August 2014. Their second child is due April 27, 2017. Rev. Burns loves tea, creativity, and reading fiction. John loves designing and playing board games and other creative endeavors. Micah loves vehicles and dancing.

The Burns Family looks forward to coming to Memorial and becoming part of the church family and community!

YOU ARE INVITED!Dear Congregation,

Somehow my husband and I have become like Grandparents to Craig Jackson. He’s the 17 year old musician who played saxophone when Chadz Woods was part of our Music Ministry at Memorial. Craig graduates from Stivers School for the Arts in a few weeks and has been accepted to many colleges and will decide on one soon. You’re invited to attend his Graduation Party which will be held at our log home in Bellbrook: 977 S. Alpha-Bellbrook Rd. Tentative date is Sunday June 11, 2:00-5:00. (I’ll let you know if the date changes as Craig hears about summer music camps). We hope that you’ll be able to stop by and help Craig celebrate.

Thanks! Indy Sumner

P.S. I really love my little furry friend, Jo Dee.

Last month I took a Spring break even though I knew I’d miss you and that you might even miss me. I decided to relax and spend some dedicated time with God. It’s a crazy, busy world we live in, and I needed some quiet guidance from THE BEST. And, now I’m refreshed and focused!

So, are any of you running in that Flying Pig thing in Cincinnati this year? I always wondered where that phrase “when pigs fly” came from. It seemed like a silly, silly thing until I read about the origin of “FLYING PIGS.” Quite often we think some things are impossible, but then, we think positively, figure out a plan, pray about it, work hard, enlist others’ help, pray some more... now you get the picture, right?! Turns out, it’s all about living your dreams. Let’s hear it for flying pigs!!! May your pigs soar with the eagles!

I liked that nice little lunch you all had for our police officers, firefighters and EMTs last month. You made our community helpers feel appreciated. This was the third year you all have done that, right? In the past, I found a few crumbs afterward, but this year... not a one. Couldn’t figure out why, and then it came to me! That service puppy, Jo Dee, was at the luncheon. I love that little dog, but figuritively speaking, she licked the floor clean!Do you think Jo Dee will be at the Mother-Daughter Banquet on May 20?

Lots of love and hugs from your favorite churchmouse,
