Tonight in the Great Hall hear talks on releasing and accepting by minister Debra Morwood, followed by a burning bowl ritual. As we enter 2015 we may release the good for the better, as well as accept new (or recommitted‐to, and therefore like new) good into our lives, in areas such as health, relationships, career, creativity, passion, and a deep sense of the sacred. Start thinking now of

how this ceremony can serve you. You’ll also fill out a 2015 goal letter to be mailed back to you at Thanksgiving! WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 31, 7PM.

Our midweek celebrations in the Great Hall feature a talk by Jesse Jennings, or a guest, plus live music, poetry, prayer support, and fun surprises!

Our usual practitioners on duty are David Dewhurst and Lisa Ryan, who also staffs the bookstore. Want to gift us with your music on a Wednesday night?

E‐mail Nancy at [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] for details.

Christ is the embodiment of divine sonship that has come...to all people in all ages, and to every person

in some degree... a universal Presence... —ERNEST HOLMES

Join your Center family for a very special Christ‐mas Eve, when we’ll retell the age‐old story, then realize with a thrill that it’s our story — a gift that is given to all alike. In our teaching, Jesus was an enlightened soul, our “elder brother,” who discov‐ered and used the Christ‐principle. He came into a suffering world to show us a way out of suffering, both personal and collective. We strive to honor

his legacy not just by admiring the magnificence of his life’s ministry or his selfless submission to sacrifice, but by following his urging to love our neighbors as ourselves. A CLC tradition since 1984, on Christmas Eve you can come enjoy music both seasonal and classical; immerse yourself in the light, color and warmth of community in our beautiful Center; and at the service’s end step forward with your candle to impress upon your deepest awareness a feeling to let your light shine the whole year through. Come gather with us WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24, for one service only at 7PM.

Sunday morning

MediMediMeditatatationtiontion

“...Sit and rest and refresh your soul. Eat of the fruit and drink the wine.

All, all is yours, and you are welcome.”

—The Science of Mind text

The Sunday morning meditation is actually an awesome extra to Sunday celebrations. Led by practitioner Malené Njeri, it lasts for 35 minutes, ending in time to comfortably

get into the 11am celebration. There is music to enhance as you are guided into a restful state, and inspirational readings to tap into your spiritual center. Most sessions will end with a spiritual mind treatment based on the theme of the readings. Don’t be concerned about being late. There is an easy way to quickly get into the flow. Stand a moment outside the door and bring yourself to complete silence. Maintain that silence as you enter. You’ll find yourself suddenly present in the meditation and all is well. SUNDAYS 10:15‐10:50AM, upstairs in the Learning Center.

Singer/songwriter Bob Livingston has never been a tradi‐tional country musi‐cian living the honky‐tonk life, though he’s spent more than his share of

time on the roadhouse circuit with some of the most colorful music legends In Texas. As a member of Austin’s legendary Lost Gonzo Band for many years, performing and recording with such visionaries as Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Martin Murphey, and Ray Wylie Hubbard, Livingston played an integral role in creating the music that first earned Austin the designation of “Live Music Capital of the World.” Achieving rec‐ognition in their own right, the Gonzo’s self‐titled debut record was name by Rolling Stone “one of the best albums ever to come out of Austin.” Hailing originally from Lubbock, Livingston has traveled since the 1980s as a Music Ambassador for the US Dept. of State, taking Texas music to India, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. As Livingston says, “When all else fails, music prevails.” This philosophy earned him the honor of being appointed Austin’s “International Music Ambassador,” in 2010 by the Austin City Council. This world‐traveled view was reflected in his album, Mahatma Gandhi and Sitting Bull, released in 2004 and named by the Austin Ameri‐can‐Statesman one of the year’s top ten CDs. With his Texas Music Award‐winning follow‐up, Gypsy Alibi, co‐produced with Lloyd Maines, Livingston presents a mixed bag of folk‐rock, Americana, country and rockabilly, with an epic or two thrown in. Of this album, the Austin Chronicle said, “Beautifully crafted, world music‐inspired songwriting.”

Robin Hackett remains in a class of her own, creating music as eclectic as her background. Robin has been writing and perform‐ing music since child‐

hood. Her song, “Hard Left” was played in the CBS hit comedy, “How I Met your Mother” which expanded her fan base instantly. She is also a first‐round Grammy™‐nominated songwriter. Like most artists, Robin does not like planting herself in one genre, writing songs that cross all genres, that can stand alongside the sounds of Sarah Vaughn, Joni Mitchell, Sheryl Crow, Darius Rucker, and Norah Jones. She loves jazz and she loves country music. Her guitar is where her heart and voice meet. She is a one‐of‐a‐kind unique expression pouring love and heart into all of her performances. Since making her musical debut with an acclaimed collection of songs in her first CD, One Foot Barefoot, she’s won the hearts of many. Robin was featured on CNBC Television and has appeared in Acoustic Guitar , PC , and Mac World magazines. Robin’s fans voted “Saying Goodbye” as the #1 jazz song on mp3.com and tunes “Jimmy Dean” and “Come On Love” as the #2 and #3 best country/folk songs. She appeared on the Rollingstone.com charts along with notables such as k.d. lang and Emmy Lou Harris. Robin studied songwriting with singer/songwriter Roseanne Cash at the Omega Institute in New York and has opened for Elektra Recording artist Keb Mo’ and Woodstock legend, the late Richie Havens. Robin has re‐corded six CDs of original music and spends her time teaching guitar, piano, and voice to young people, and performing and writing songs with lots of folks.

Award‐winning singer/songwriter and multi‐instrumentalist Hans York is an extraordinary guitarist and strong, engaging performer with a

distinctive style and an irrepressibly delightful and approachable manner. He accompanied Robert Palmer on German TV, toured as bassist with the New York Broadway Ensemble, played throughout Europe with master harp player Rüdiger Opper‐mann, performed a concerto as soloist on fretless bass with the Ars Quittilinga Chamber Orchestra, and co‐founded the German Worldmusic cult band Moka Efti, recording three CDs with them. Hans blends jazz, folk and classical European styles into a sound both familiar and unique, and makes his seventh visit to CLC at both services on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15.

Children begin their Sunday learning adventures in the registration area in the youth foyer, then move to their class‐rooms, returning to the Great Hall to be reunited with their

parents in time for the closing song. Some Sundays we offer special theme workshops for the kids, too. We are devoted to providing a safe environment for our happy children! CLC’s Youth Director, minister Debra Morwood, reminds parents that when your children are returned to the Great Hall on Sunday, please note it is the policy of the Center that each child, no matter the age, must be supervised by their adult care‐giver. Here’s an important important important update... You can now help by donating cash or Kroger cards or generic gift cards (only ‐‐ no checks, please, or other store‐specific cards); or by volunteering to help pack or deliver the food to the Montgomery County Food Bank every three weeks. See the display in Builders’ Hall. Identified cash donations are of course recorded and are tax‐deductible. Our commitment to the Buddy Backpack program is to feed 15 young students every weekend throughout the school year, as well as to recruit other faith communities into the project (three so far!). The next shopping dates are TUESDAYS, DECEMBER 2 & 23, and shopping team leader is Sean Kenneth Connelly. The next packing date is FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, at 1PM, and the packing team leader is Michele Macias. The next delivery date is MONDAY, DECEMBER 15, at 10:15AM, and the delivery team leader is Sandy Tramel. Our program

co‐coordinators are Carol Stromatt and Alline Dawson. With general questions, and also to volunteer at the new MCFB facility, please e‐mail [email protected]@[email protected]

Please remember the ongoing life of your Center, which costs about $5,000 per week to fund, by doing your part and more if you can! You can make a fully tax deductible donation by credit/debit card, or via the PayPal link on our website and in our weekly e‐mails. If you prefer, in the bookstore you can sign up for an automatic monthly contribution! Thank you to all the CLCers who contributed to our fund for a new roof for the Learning Center. The work is now complete!
