On this Veterans Day, we pause to remember and recognize those who have gallantly served

our country in the armed services. In both peace time and conflict, they have given of

themselves and their families also have made great sacrifices. Our freedom is not free.

Thank you so very much to all and may we remember them in our prayers.

Parishioners and family members listed here are veterans as well as actively serving

members. Please join the parish’s Ranger Rosary Group in praying a rosary for them and

the intentions of their families this Veterans Day weekend.

LIFETEEN IS ALSO THE HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP OF ST. JOSEPH PARISH, DANVILLE! Parents of St. Joseph Parish highschoolers: Please encourage your teen to attend Lifeteen. We leave the St. Joseph School Parking Lot every Sunday evening at 5:30 PM. and return at 8:30 PM.

Life Teen is open to all high schoolers!! November 10th Tonight, we again, begin a new series. This time the series is in 6 parts and takes us to the end of the year. The series is called “Unleashed – Evangelization”. The series will focus on different ways teens can spread the Gospel message in their current situation. November 17th Next week is called “Hanging Back”. In evangelization there are things that aid us and other things that hold us back. Just because the teens do not know all of the answers does not mean they cannot be effective evangelizers, and just because they DO know all of the answers does not necessarily mean they are effective evangelizers. During this series, we are going to tackle the many facets of evangelization and aim to equip the teens with tools and confidence in this important mission. The night will take place in the gym, so, we can meet in the cafeteria for eats. Join us for an interactive night and a fun game at the end of the evening. Hope to see you all there!!! Next week there is NO Life Teen. Everyone will be recuperating from the Fan the Fire Rally on Saturday. See you on the 24

th.

Hope to see you at all of our Life Nights!! DONATIONS APPRECIATED!!! Thank you to all who have graciously donated snacks and monetary gifts to Life Teen. If you would like to help with snack donations, we could use snacks of any kind. Bought or baked…it’s all good. We can also make great use of gift cards: Giant, Weis, Walmart…. We provide pizza and snacks for the teens every week, so if you can help in any way it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you so very much!!!

FUNERALS-A MINISTRY OF CONSOLATION At the time of death, we at Saint Joseph's serve families with planning the Funeral Liturgy as well as other aspects of the Funeral. We are always in need of volunteers who can help us as Altar Servers, Greeters, Lectors, Cantors, and Funeral Luncheon servers, or those who wish to help the bereavement care team. Please call the parish if interested.

VETERAN’S DAY is Monday, November 11th. Our parish’s Ranger Rosary Group would like to recognize our veterans throughout the month of November. If interested, please share the names of your loved ones who are veterans. Their names will be listed in the parish bulletin and on a roll call in the parish lobby. Please provide their name, branch of the military and if possible, the dates of their service and e-mail this information to [email protected]. If you have questions or are interested in more information about the Ranger Rosary ministry, please contact Kim Burke at this e-mail address as well.

This year’s national event takes place on Dec 14

th.

In hopes of donating several wreaths from our parish, a fund drive will be held in the church lobby on Veterans Day Weekend (Saturday, November 9

thand Sunday, November

10th) after all the masses. Wreaths cost $15 each and we

welcome any donations. Please see the display in the church lobby. To learn more, visit wreathsacrossamerica.org or you may contact Lynn Maffei (570)394-3393 or Kim Burke [email protected] with your questions.

REFLECTION FOR OUR 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEDICATION OF ST. O St. Bakhita, assist all those who are trapped in a state of slavery; Intercede with God on their behalf so that they will be released from their chains of captivity.

Provide comfort to survivors of slavery and let them look to you as an example of hope and faith.”

USCCB, “Prayer to St. Josephine Bakhita”

32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

1. A prayer for our troops and military veterans as we celebrate Veteran’s Day this Monday: “Lord God, Almighty Father, creator of mankind and author of peace, as we are ever mindful of the cost paid for the liberty we possess, we ask you to bless all the members of our armed forces. Give them courage, hope and strength. May they ever experience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate healing. Be their power and protector, leaving them from darkness into light. To you be all glory, honor and praise, now and forever. Amen.”

2. Our annual parish celebration of 40 Hours Eucharistic Devotions will take place this year from November 17-19. During each of these days, the Blessed Sacrament (the Eucharist) will be exposed on the altar for times of individual prayer and worship. Then, each evening at 7pm, an hour-long service will take place, which includes sermons offered by our guest homilist – this year, Fr. Ryan Fischer, pastor of Divine Redeemer Parish, Mt. Carmel. All are invited and encouraged to attend and participate in whatever way you’re able. 3. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for sponsoring and hosting our free parishioner breakfast in continued celebration of the 150th anniversary of the dedication of our church.

4. Families grow, change, move, and their circumstances and needs change as well. Did you know it has been at least 5 years since we updated our Parish Data System (PDS)? This database is very important because it lets us all know who the members of our parish family are. And so to accomplish our mission, and adequately serve you, our parishioners, better we will ask you to complete an updated parish census – what the Pastoral Council is calling “Survey # 1”. Updating our parish records will also help us to communicate more effectively with you going forward. And so, the next two weekends, November 16/17 and 23/24, after the homily, we will take a few moments to complete Survey # 1 in pew. If you would need more time, you are also able to complete it by December 1st. Either way, there will be boxes in the back of the church for you to return these completed forms. Or, you are welcome to give them to Melissa or Mary in the parish office. This form is also on the parish website, and can completed electronically and then returned via email to our

parish email address at: [email protected].

God bless you and your week – Fr. Marcoe

The St. Joseph Shrine Light will burn this week for the Intentions of Jerry & Susie Buckley as a gift from Uncle Duane, Aunt Louise & Cindy. The Blessed Virgin Mary Light will burn this week for the Intentions of Jerry & Susie Buckley as a gift from Uncle Duane, Aunt Louise & Cindy.

PLEASE PRAY FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS Fatemeh Mohammadi is a 19 year old member of a house church in Tehran and Christian activist, who is imprisoned in Iran’s Evin Prison, known as a “torture factory.” Heavenly Father, please protect your daughter Fatemeh, who has so courageously proclaimed your word and fought for the rights of the followers of Your Son. Please keep her safe and strong in her faith, and may she be an instrument in the conversion of the people she meets.
