INTRODUCTION

The Book of Revelation was written by the Apostle John 2,000 years ago. How-ever, he died not understanding the meaning of what he had written. This happened because the Book of Revelation was not for his time. It was given for the present time in which you and I live just before the Second Coming of Jesus to the earth.

The title of the last book of the Bible is “Revelation - the Unveiling of Jesus Christ.” The word “revelation” comes from the Greek word “Apocalypsis”, which means the “revealing” or the “unveiling”. The entire Book of Revelation is the dramatization of the Unveiling of Jesus Christ to the world at the time of His Second Coming.

Most of the Book of Revelation has been hidden in mystery for the last 2,000 years. Right now, just before the Rapture, we are understanding things that have never been understood before.

Revelation contains four different accounts of the Unveiling of Jesus to the world. Each of these accounts is preceded by an account of events that will lead up to the Second Coming. Each of these accounts supply a different dramatic view of things that will happen before the Second Coming. It is as though God couldn’t just tell the story once. There will be so many exciting things involved in His Unveiling that He had to record the events from four different perspectives. Each of these four narra-tives conclude at the same event – the dramatic Second Coming of Jesus to the earth!

The theme of the entire Book of Revelation is found in Revelation 1:7, “Behold, He Cometh.” In “Revelation - the Unveiling of Jesus Christ”, you will view ten animated videos portraying the events the Apostle John was shown on the Isle of Patmos. Accompanying these ten videos is a 268-page hardback book that will assist you in your study of the Book written 2,000 years ago for those of us who live in these end times.

Now, experience with the Apostle John the visions given for the end time. Their meaning will become amazingly clear to you through the animated videos of “Revelation”. Believe it or not, you will be able to understand what God sent to us by John over 2,000 years ago.

Chpater 1 Four Accounts of the Second Coming 2

The Book of Revelation is such an exciting book because it deals mostly with the events that are to occur in the end times. The Book of Revelation is not really the Book of Revelation. The first verse of the first chapter says, “The revelation of Jesus Christ.” The word revelation comes from the Greek word apocalypsis, which means the revealing, or the “unveiling”.

The “Unveiling of Jesus Christ” is the design of the entire Book of Revelation. Revelation contains four very dramatic and exciting accounts of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ back to this earth.

The theme of the entire Book of Revelation is found in this passage, “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen,” (Revelation 1:7).

THE THREE SECTIONS OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION

In order to really understand the Book of Revelation, we need to know it is recorded in three sections. They are defined for us in the following verse, “Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter,” (Revelation 1:19).

• The “things which thou hast seen” are recorded in chapter 1. • The “things which are” are recorded in chapters 2 and 3. • The “things which shall be hereafter” are recorded in chapters 4–22.

Let’s take a closer look at these three sections of the Book of Revelation.

“REVELATION COMES FROM THE GREEK WORD APOCALYPSIS WHICH MEANS THE REVEALING OR THE UNVEILING.”

Page 8: Revelation - Jesus Christ

3 Revelation - The Unveiling of Jesus Christ

Things Thou Hast SeenJohn saw the Lord, and the Lord introduced Himself to John saying, “I am Al-

pha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty,” (Revelation 1:8). He further reveals Himself as being Jesus Christ when John says, “And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death,” (Revelation 1:17-18). These are the “things which thou hast seen.”

Things Which AreThe “things which are” are contained in chapters 2 and 3. These are the messages

to the seven churches of Asia Minor which existed at that particular time. The churches were Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. History records after John was released from exile on the Isle of Patmos, he returned to Asia Minor, which today is Turkey. He was the overseer of the seven churches. Almighty God gave John specific messages to each of those seven churches to present to them, which he did after he was liberated from the exile.

Things Which shall be Hereafter Now we come to the larger part of the Book of Revelation. These are the “things

which shall be hereafter” found in chapters 4–22. The prophetic portion of the Book

Page 9: Revelation - Jesus Christ

Chpater 1 Four Accounts of the Second Coming 4

of Revelation begins in chapter 4, “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter,” (Revelation 4:1).

FOUR ACCOUNTS OF THE SECOND COMING

We need to understand another very important fact as we are taking this overview of the entire Book of Revelation. Revelation contains four different accounts of the Second Coming of Jesus, or we might say four different accounts of the “unveiling” of Jesus. The entire book is about the “Unveiling of Jesus Christ,” or the “revealing of Jesus Christ” to the world at the time of the Second Coming.

First Account of Second Coming/UnveilingThe Book of Revelation contains three groups of seven: Seven Seals, Seven Trumpets

and Seven Vials. The first account of the Second Coming is contained in the Sixth and Seventh Seals. The opening of the Sixth Seal is recorded in Revelation 6, “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places,” (Revelation 6:12-14).Verses 15-17 go on to say that the great day of His wrath is come: “And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains. And said to the mountains and rocks, fall on us and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand,” (Revelation 6:15-17)? Remem-ber, the Lamb is Jesus Christ.

“REVELATION 4:1 BEGINS THE PROPHETIC PORTION OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION”

Page 12: Revelation - Jesus Christ

7 Revelation - The Unveiling of Jesus Christ

The mighty men of the world are suddenly overwhelmed with fear, and they cry out, “... hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne...” We have been living in rebellion against Jesus Christ and His Lordship; we have done our own thing; we have gone our own way. Now, it is time for the reckoning, and we are not ready.

The opening of the Seventh Seal concludes the first account of the unveiling, “And when he had opened the Seventh Seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour,” (Revelation 8:1). Many people have wondered what this thirty minutes of silence in Heaven could be. I personally believe this is all of Heaven falling silent as they watch in awe, the Rapture of the church of Jesus Christ as it is caught up to meet Jesus in the air as He descends from Heaven. The last verse of the Seventh Seal says, “And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake,” (Revelation 8:5).

Let’s look at the things that happened during the Sixth and Seventh Seal. This describes the first account of the Second Coming, the Unveiling of Jesus Christ:

• A great earthquake• Sun became dark• Moon became as blood• Stars fall from Heaven• The heavens open• Mountains and islands moved out of their places• Day of God’s Wrath is come• Voices, thunderings, lightnings and earthquake

Second Account of Second Coming/UnveilingThe second account of the Second Coming or unveiling happens under the Seventh

Trumpet. Remember, there are Seven Seals, Seven Trumpets and Seven Vials.

Page 13: Revelation - Jesus Christ

Chpater 1 Four Accounts of the Second Coming 8

The Seventh Trumpet is recorded in Revelation 11, “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned,” (Revelation 11:15-17).

The Seventh Trumpet simply depicts the Second Coming of Jesus to the earth. Jesus will overthrow all human governments and will be crowned King of kings and Lord of lords. This will begin what is called in the Scriptures the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ will then rule the world for the next 1,000 years.

As we conclude the Seventh Trumpet, the following verses say, “And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail,” (Revelation 11:18-19). The events of the Seventh Trumpet are the same as the events of the Sixth and Seventh Seals. Let’s rehearse them again:

• Sounding of the trumpet• Earthly reign of Jesus Christ begins • The Day of God’s Wrath has come• Lightnings, voices, thunderings, a great earthquake and great hail

This is account two of the unveiling. Remember, the Book of Revelation is the dramatization of the Second Coming. It’s as if Almighty God said, “This is going to be

Page 14: Revelation - Jesus Christ

9 Revelation - The Unveiling of Jesus Christ

the focal point, the crowning event. I want the people of the earth to get the message. I’m not going to tell them once, I’m not going tell them twice! I want to give them four dramatic accounts of my Second Coming so that they can really understand the importance of it!”

Third Account of Second Coming/Unveiling – The Two HarvestsThe next account of the Second Coming or unveiling is what we call,

“The Two Harvests”. Jesus gave a parable about the Two Harvests in Matthew 13. The parable describes

the harvest of the wheat and the tares. He said the harvest is going to happen at the end of the age when, “I will gather together the wheat into the barn, and I will gather the tares and burn them with unquenchable fire,” (Matthew 13:30).

The Two Harvests in Revelation 14:14-20 tell the same story. In this account, the harvest of the wheat is called the harvest of the earth, and the harvest of the tares is called the harvest of the vine of the earth. The harvest of the earth is the Rapture. It’s described in this passage, “And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped,” (Revelation 14:14-16).

“THE HARVEST OF THE EARTH IS THE RAPTURE”

Page 15: Revelation - Jesus Christ

Chpater 1 Four Accounts of the Second Coming 10

The second harvest is the harvest of the vine of the earth and it happens at the Battle of Armageddon. “And another angel came out of the temple which is in heav-en, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the

clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thou-sand and six hundred furlongs,” (Revelation 14:17-20).

Notice the vine of the earth was cast into the great winepress to be trodden without the city. The city referred to here is Jerusalem. This entire scene depicts God pouring out His wrath upon the nations during the Battle of Armageddon. The Battle of Armageddon will conclude at the city of Jerusalem.

Let’s review what occurs in this account of the Second Coming. It does not reveal as much detail as the other three accounts, but we do have the Rapture, the Wrath of God and the Battle of Armageddon.

Fourth Account of Second Coming/UnveilingThe fourth account of the Second Coming or Unveiling of Jesus Christ happens

under the Seventh Vial. This is found in Revelation 16:15-21, and then continues in Revelation 19:6-21. Chapters 17 and 18 are interjected between chapters 16 and 19 to record the judgment of false Christianity, which will take place during the events of the Second Coming.

The Last-Minute WarningFirst, let’s look at what I call the last-minute warning. A little earlier in chapter 16,

God is gathering the kings of the earth down against Israel for the Battle of Armaged-don. He pauses and says, “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame,” (Revelation 16:15). Remember, this is the last-minute warning just before the Rapture. The next two verses say, “And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue

Page 16: Revelation - Jesus Christ

Page 17: Revelation - Jesus Christ

Page 18: Revelation - Jesus Christ

13 Revelation - The Unveiling of Jesus Christ

Armageddon. And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great,” (Revelation 16:16-18).

These events take place at the Battle of Armageddon. The battle is called Arma-geddon because the word Armageddon comes from two words, Har Megiddo, which

means Hill of Megiddo. Megiddo is in northern Israel. The Battle of Armageddon will begin in the Plain of Megiddo but then will culminate right outside of Jerusalem in the Valley of Jehoshaphat, also known as the Kidron Valley. This is where the wrath of Almighty God will be executed against the armies that have come down, attempting to erad-icate the nation of Israel.

In Revelation 17 and 18, God pauses to give an account of the execution of His wrath against false Christianity. Two full chapters record the Wrath of God against those who claim to be Christian, but have so perverted Christianity that it has become the religion of the Antichrist and his religious partner, the False Prophet.

The continuation of this fourth account of the unveiling is found in Revelation 19, “And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters,

Page 19: Revelation - Jesus Christ

Chpater 1 Four Accounts of the Second Coming 14

and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready,” (Revelation 19:6-7). The wife is the bride, the church. The church is going to be married to Jesus Christ at His Second Coming.

In chapter 19, it is time for the marriage of the Lamb and the church has made herself ready. At this time, the church will be caught up to meet Jesus Christ in the air as He comes down for the Battle of Armageddon. The scriptures say, “And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God,” (Revelation 19:8-9). It should be every person’s number one goal to be called to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. If you make it, the Bible says you are blessed.

Now we come to the fourth unveiling, “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteous-ness he doth judge and make war.His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God,” (Revelation 19:11-13).

Page 22: Revelation - Jesus Christ

17 Revelation - The Unveiling of Jesus Christ

This passage says that Heaven opened up. We have Heaven opening under the Sixth and Seventh Seal. We have the Second Coming under the Seventh Trumpet, and now here we are once again seeing the heavens open.

Revelation 19 provides more details about the Battle of Armageddon, “And the armies which were in heaven followed him on white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God,” (Revelation 19:14–15). Here we see the same events as in the other accounts of the unveiling:

• Voices• Thunders• Lightnings • A great earthquake • Great hail• Marriage of the Lamb• Heaven opened• Armageddon• Wrath of God• Earthly reign of Jesus Christ begins

Olivet DiscourseThere is one more account of the Second Coming we should consider, even

though it is not found in the Book of Revelation. This particular account was given

“YOU WANT TO BE CALLED TO THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB!”

Page 23: Revelation - Jesus Christ

Chpater 1 Four Accounts of the Second Coming 18

Page 24: Revelation - Jesus Christ

19 Revelation - The Unveiling of Jesus Christ

by Jesus Christ Himself while He was still here on the earth. It is called the Olivet Discourse and is found in Matthew 24. It’s called the Olivet Discourse because Jesus gave it while sitting on the Mount of Olives. At the beginning of the chapter, Jesus foretold the destruction of the Temple. It so shocked His disciples that they asked Him a question, “... Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age,” (Matthew 24:3, NKJV)?

Jesus answered this question and described in great detail the signs of His Second Coming, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other,” (Matthew 24:29–31). These are the words of Jesus Himself!

Remember, every eye shall behold Him. What do we see in this account given to us by Jesus?

• Sun becomes dark • Moon turns to blood • Stars fall from Heaven• Heavens open• Sounding of the trumpet• The Rapture

To solidify our understanding, let’s review the five accounts we have studied about the Second Coming. Let’s compare what happens at each one. At the Sixth and Seventh Seals, we have:

• A great earthquake• Sun became dark• Moon became as blood • Stars fall from Heaven• Heavens opened• Mountains and islands moved out of their places• Day of God’s Wrath is come

What happened in the account of the Second Coming in the Seventh Trumpet? This is the same account as the Sixth and Seventh Seal:

• Earthly reign of Jesus begins • Day of God’s Wrath is come • Lightnings• Voices

Page 25: Revelation - Jesus Christ

Chpater 1 Four Accounts of the Second Coming 20

• Thunderings• An earthquake• Great hail

In the account of the Two Harvests in Revelation 14, we have:• Rapture• Armageddon• Wrath of God

The Wrath of God is poured out upon the people of the earth who have rebelled against Jesus Christ. Again, at the Seventh Vial we have:

• Voices• Thunders • Lightnings• Great earthquake• Heaven opened• Earthly reign of Jesus begins • Wrath of God

Page 26: Revelation - Jesus Christ

21 Revelation - The Unveiling of Jesus Christ

Once again, the Wrath of God is poured out upon those who lived in rebellion against Jesus Christ. Finally, we come to the Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24. What happens in verses 29–31?

• Sun becomes dark • Moon turned to blood • Stars fall from Heaven• Sounding of the trumpet• Heavens open• Rapture

CONCLUSION

Throughout this series of lessons concerning the Book of Revelation, we are going to fill in all the blanks, but we need to retain two pieces of crucial information. The first one is, there are four accounts of the Second Coming.

First AccountRemember, it begins in Revelation 4 and concludes in Revelation 8:5. This is

where the Seven Seals are recorded, concluding with the Second Coming.

Second Account We find this account in Revelation 8:2 through Revelation 11:19. The passage

gives many events leading up to the Second Coming, but concludes once again with the Second Coming.

Third AccountIn chapter 12, God reveals to us more events from a totally different perspective.

Revelation 12–14 again, from a different perspective, tells us the story of the events that lead up to the dramatic “Unveiling of Jesus Christ” which happens in Revelation 14:14-20.

Fourth AccountThe Book of Revelation starts over again in chapter 15 and gives us a record of the

Seven Vials. These events culminate in chapter 19:• Heavens departing• Jesus comes to earth• Fights the Battle of Armageddon• Antichrist and False Prophet thrown into the Lake of Fire • Satan is bound for 1,000 years• Kingdom of God is established

Page 27: Revelation - Jesus Christ

Chpater 1 Four Accounts of the Second Coming 22

The second piece of crucial information to remember is, there are three divisions of the Book of Revelation.

Three Divisions of the Book of Revelation• Things which thou hast seen• Things which are• Things which shall be hereafter

What has this lesson taught us about the Book of Revelation? The entire Book of Revelation is broken down into four different accounts of the Second Coming and is divided into three divisions.

John was told, “Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter,” (Revelation 1:19). As we mentioned, there are four different accounts of the unveiling.

Why did God write the Book of Revelation like this? It appears He was looking forward with great excitement to the culmination of everything! I’m talking about Calvary; I’m talking about His ministry; I’m talking about the church age. Everything is all going to culminate with this ultimate goal — the Second Coming or the Unveil-ing of Jesus to the earth!

Let’s go back to the theme of the Book of Revelation, “Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen,” (Revelation 1:7).

Be in the Right Harvest! You and I live in the time of the fulfillment of Jesus’ Second Coming. It is just

ahead of us now! We want to make sure that we are in the right harvest. We do not want to be in the harvest of the tares. Our number one goal should be to be in the harvest of the wheat! This is the reason we are studying the plan of God for the end time contained in the Book of Revelation.
