FROM MY HOUSE
TO YOURS
Dear Parishioners,
Merry Christmas and Happy Feast of the Holy
Family! What a better way to begin this Christmas sea-
son then remembering the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary
and Joseph. Jesus’ coming into the world as the son of
Mary and Joseph shows that the family is an important
building block both in the Church and in the world.
The Holy Family living in love and unity with God
and one another is the model all Christian families
seek to imitate.
Though the life of any family includes chal-
lenges and stress, the life of the Holy Family encour-
ages us to invest ourselves in the relationships that
make up family life. And each member the Holy Fam-
ily provides a model of certain values and virtues we
can strive to imitate.
Joseph, a man of few words but bold action,
exemplifies the virtue of fidelity, which is so critical
for family life. Mary, a woman who pondered all
things in her heart, displays the faith and trust that are
essential ingredients of authentic family relationships.
Jesus, who strove always to God’s will, even when it
caused tension with his mother, exhibits the obedience
to which all of us are called not only to God our Fa-
ther, but to our respective parents and siblings as we
work to build our lives together.
Like Jesus, each of us comes into the world as
part of a family. And just as Jesus’ life with Joseph
and Mary helped shape the man he grew into, our fam-
ily forms us. The ups and downs of family life give us
opportunities to offer love and forgiveness to others.
Family life is most often and most profoundly
deepened around the table where meals are shared.
May our sharing of the Eucharistic meal nourish and
deepen within each of us the desire to build good, lov-
ing families here on earth and live in perfect love and
communion with God and the rest of the angels and
saints in heaven.

Continued
So today say a little prayer for your family; and
here is one that you can use:
Jesus, our most loving redeemer,
You came to enlighten the world
with your teaching and example.
You willed to spend the greater part of Your life
in humble obedience to Mary and Joseph
in the poor home of Nazareth.
In this way, You sanctified that family,
which was to be an example for all Christian families.
Graciously accept our family,
which we dedicate and consecrate to You this day.
Be pleased to protect, guard, and keep it
in holy fear, in peace,
and in the harmony of Christian charity.
By conforming ourselves to the Divine model
of Your family,
may we attain to eternal happiness.
Amen.
At this time, I just want to say how
blessed I am to be part of the St. Richard Parish family
and know that all of you are always in my daily
prayers. Also, I would like to thank all those who
helped in any way to make our Church look so beauti-
ful this Christmas. Through your hard work and vision
many of our parishioners felt the love of Christmas;
and there is no better gift than feeling loved in your
parish! Thank you to all of you for making Christmas
here a wonderful gift and memory for me to always
treasure!
God Love Ya!

Celebrate Baptism!
Celebrate our Faith! On Sunday, January 10, we cele-
brate the Baptism of Our Lord
and the last day of the Christmas
Season. We invite all families
who have had a child Baptized
in the past two years to the
11:30 a.m. Mass for a special family blessing.
Baptism, the first Sacrament that we receive,
welcomes us into the Christian Community. As
a community of Faith, it is important for us to
pray for each other throughout all of the special
Sacrament moments and throughout the year.
We hope to see you on January 10, 2016 at 11:30
a.m. Mass.

The Holy Family December 27, 2015
On this Feast of the Holy Family, the Responsorial Psalm talks about the need for us to fear the Lord in order to follow the Lord. This fear isn’t one of terror or apprehension, but one of fearing to do the wrong thing and suffering the conse-quences of our actions. When we are judged by God, we will have to account for the way we treated oth-
ers. When we see the face of God in everyone we meet, then we are walking in the Lord’s foot-steps. This Feast of the Holy Family holds up Mary, Joseph and Jesus as the model for all fami-lies. They obeyed the will of God. We, too, are called to obey God’s will within the family dy-namic. Respect, unconditional love, forgiveness are just some of the many qualities families need to develop to maintain a healthy and holy family. When we place faith first and center our day to day lives on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we can be sure that we will have nothing to fear from the Lord.
Our FAITH teaches us that the greatest virtues are Faith, Hope and Love/Charity. We are FAITHful by our prayer and celebration of the Holy Mass. We are HOPEful as we strive to be good disciples and seek eternal life with the Savior of the World. We are CHARITABLE/LOVING, when we share what we have with our family, community and world and treat all God’s children with dignity and respect. We ask that you honor the Faith of your Baptism by coming to Mass to give praise and thanksgiv-ing to Jesus Christ for all that you have and all that you can offer another person. Remember, JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON and we need to HONOR Jesus, as the Son of God, HONOR his name, by remembering why we celebrate Christmas and HONOR his day by celebrating with the community at Mass.
Prayer for All Families
on the Feast of the Holy Family
By Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Heavenly Father, you have given us
the model of life in the Holy Family of Nazareth.
Help us, O Loving Father, to make our family
another Nazareth where love, peace and joy reign. May it be deeply contemplative,
intensely eucharistic, revived with joy.
Help us to stay together in joy and sorrow in
family prayer. Teach us to see Jesus in the
members of our families, especially in their
distressing disguise. May the eucharistic heart
of Jesus make our hearts humble like his and
help us to carry out our family
duties in a holy way.
May we love one another as God loves each one of us, more and more each day, and
forgive each other's faults as you
forgive our sins.
Help us, O Loving Father, to take whatever you give and give whatever you take with a big smile. Immacu-
late Heart of Mary, cause of our joy,
pray for us. St. Joseph, pray for us.
Holy Guardian Angels, be always with us,
Lord, you teach me the
importance of family life.
Keep my family in peace
and deepen my love,
respect, and
appreciation for all the
members of my family. —From Joyful Meditations for Every Day of Advent and the 12 Days of
Christmas, Rev. Warren J. Savage and Mary Ann McSweeny

A Word From
Pope Francis We need simplicity to pray as a
family: simplicity is necessary!
Praying the Our Father to-
gether, around the table, is not something
extraordinary: it’s easy. And praying the Ro-
sary together, as a family, is very beautiful
and a source of great strength! And also
praying for one another! The husband for
his wife, the wife for her husband, both to-
gether for their children, the children for
their grandparents…praying for each other.
This is what it means to pray in the family
and it is what makes the family strong:
prayer. — Homily for the family day, October 27, 2013
