THE TABLE SCHEDULE FOR OCTOBER 14 MENU:
“Clean Closet Sunday” is October 11!
The “Let’s Worship Together” project has been a great success!
When the fire marshal closed the sanctuary due to step repairs, we planned to worship togeth-
er in the MPR for the month of July. When the step repairs were delayed, we had a great example of
God bringing good out of bad: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who
love him, who have been called according to his purpose” –Romans 8:28. The delay created a very
tangible feeling of unity and positive spiritual energy that lasted months in a time (in the life of the
church) when we really needed it. Worshipping in the MPR brought us closer together literally and
spiritually. Now that we can access the sanctuary (from the inside) we want to preserve and nourish
this momentum. Can’t you feel the Lord’s blessing upon the church as we grow with more and more
visitors and new members? One of the ways that the Worship Committee and Session hopes to
keep momentum is to have a gradual transition back to our prior schedule. Most likely, we will return
to the early traditional service, but when we do, we will be doing so from a position of necessity- a
sign of strength and growth! For now we will have two services at 11:00, one in the MPR and one in
the sanctuary.
So when will the 8:30 be back?
We don’t know yet, but the Worship Committee will be looking closely at worship. We do have
one 8:30 Sanctuary service on the schedule though. The first Sunday of December features the 8:30
Christmas Jazz Service in the sanctuary led by Gary Ellison’s band. Later that morning at 11:00, our
choirs will present a choral celebration in the MPR. On that day, we can be assured that both the
sanctuary and MPR will be full! Until then, let’s celebrate our growth and take it as a challenge to
eventually overflow into additional worship services. In Christ, Andrew

Dear Church Family, For the four Sundays in October (4, 11, 18, & 25), our youth group will be collecting items to support Harmony House and Great Circle, leading up to the ‘Make a Difference’ week-end on October 25. Also, we are collecting items for outreach bags for homeless teens, delivered to the Ozark Family Resource/Great Circle. The Outreach Bags are used as they go out and try to connect with homeless teens, age16 to 18 years old. The goal is to bring these kids into the foster care system where they can receive services and care, instead of living on the streets. There will be 5 or 6 items in each bag, and they usual-ly use quart or gallon sized bags (so the items have to be small). The type of items suggested are:
Small bottles of shampoo, body wash or conditioner, small bars of soap, chap stick, band aids, toothbrushes, tooth-paste, floss, deodorant, body wipes, tissues, small snacks (gum, crackers, granola bars, etc.), bottles of water (small), OR financial donation (made out to First & Calvary) & in the memo line “Youth Group Mission Projects”.
Thanks so much for your support of our youth! In Christ’s Love,
Rob Howard
