Recognition in AIESEC.
• Why Reward and Recognition in AIESEC ?
• How/Strategies ?
Research from some principles of management by
great management scientist like FAYOL and TAYLOR
shows that Reward and Recognitions are some of the
best strategies to motivate workers in an Organization
to work and improve organizational
performance and to develop their working skills.
Introduction
Reward and Recognitions in AIESEC is a key tool in
the talent management department which is use to
stimulate or motivate members and entities to drive
their personal development and at the same time
improve on the organizational growth by evaluating
performance and measuring successes.
In AIESEC
• To motivate members• To make the lazy members active• To improve on membership retention• To drive LCs towards organizational goals• To involve Alumni and Partners to the Organization• To provide support to members and entities and
lastly• Recognizing Partners and Alumni personally, also
motivate them to come close and contribute to the organizational benefits.
Why Reward and Recognition ??
There are several ways to how we can implement Reward and Recognition in AIESEC, some of which can be;
• Entity based Awards• Team based Awards• Portfolio based Awards and • Personal or Individual based Awards
The HOW and Strategies
You should take note that Reward and Recognition is not an instant function but a continues function, i.e. we can evaluate from time to time, quarterly, from start to end of a term, project or team experience etc…
Some strategies to engage and prepare members and entities for this by;• Training• Planning and Setting the goals with them• Coaching• Performance Tracking• Rewards and Recognition

Now talking about Planning and Setting goals with the team, members or entities, you have to;• Let them know at the beginning of the term about the
various Awards and Recognitions for them to have a focus
• What are the criterions?• What/When will it be (sometimes optional)?• Analyze Performance• Always attribute Recognition to all KPIs of strategies
leading to entity growth.
The HOW and Strategies
Rewards and Recognition at times pushes members and entities to lose focus on results and quality and stay focus on just rewards, which it in turns bring competition and less inter entity relation and conflict in the organization.
Key Drawback
• A strategy to overcome this especially at the level of the LCs is by setting goals with the strategies to attain them base on the realities, capacity and potential of individual entities.
• The same strategy can apply to LC levels when it comes to teams.
• Set up MoS to compare/differentiate being goals oriented and Results oriented.
• Some awards could be alternating and skipping years
(that is to say an award that was launch this year should not be repeated next year, however can come the preceding year)
