1. INTRODUCTION

The Reynaers U-tool software calculates the U-values of windows, doors, sliding doors and

curtain walls. In this tool one has a selection of various Reynaers systems, profile combination and

model configurations. By selecting the correct one and adjusting parameters to meet those of the

project, one can get the Uw (window), Ud (door) or Ucw (curtain wall).

All calculations are done according to the following standards:

EN ISO 10077-1:2006 and EN ISO 10077-2:2012 for windows, doors and sliding doors

EN ISO 12631:2012 for curtain walls (component and single assessment method)

1.1 Possibilities

The U-tool is a web-based software for easy calculation of U-values. It is available in Dutch,

English and French. It is possible for users to manage their own projects and safely store them online.

Each project can contain different configurations giving the user more flexibility. An overall U-value

can also be calculated for all project configurations. A report can be created just by one click. The

configurations that will appear in the report can be selected.

1.2 Where to find it

On Reynaers extranet, at TOOLS you will find U-tool. By clicking on it, you will be redirected

3.5.3 Door tab

In the door tab, the door type and the door opening type can be selected.

When selecting a profile system in the Model tab, some systems (e.g. Masterline 8) give an error (below

image). This happens because the default door type is a flat door and the default door opening type is

inward opening. However, in some systems only window doors are available, so when selecting those

systems before selecting a door type, you will get an error. If this error occurs, go first to the Door tab and

select the correct window door type or opening type and then go back to the Model tab and select the

system.

the U-tool takes into account a Utj-value and not a U

f-value. The U

tj-value represents the heat

flow through the filling element (panel), the thermal joint (frame) and the edge effect due to

the interaction between the filling element and the thermal joint. This means that the ψ-value

has been taken into account in the thermal transmittance calculations. Thus, when calculating

the thermal transmittance of a door that consists of these profiles, a ψ-value equal to 0.00

W/mK must be taken.

4. PROJECT OVERVIEW

After doing all calculations and adding all models that are needed in the project, an overview can

be viewed by clicking on Project name in the List of projects. There the project data can be seen and

edited, comments can be added and elements can be edited or deleted. The project U-value can also

be seen.

5. CREATE REPORT

A report can also be created. It can be downloaded as pdf and also as excel. All elements can be

added to the report or you only the selected ones can be added. The reports can be downloaded in

English, Dutch, French, Spanish and German.
