EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

RIA was created to bring forth a partnership between Nigeria and the United States (specifically Osogbo and New York) to empower Nige-rians to promote products within the country and outside of it. The products - a tote bag and a pencil case, are produced using organic cotton and indigo, using the ancient adire technique all found in Ni-geria. RIA partner with skilled artisans in Nigeria to create the prod-ucts and ship them to New York to be sold to an American market. Team members Stella and Danielle contributed design and produc-tion skills. Henrietta contributed research as well and contacted po-tential Nigerian collaborators, such as textile Chief Nike Davies-Okun-daye and artist Laolu Senbanjo. Chief Davies-Okundaye’s workshop Kemi, Sarah and Godiya have contributed technical and production skills, and Laolu created and designed the logo.
