“The Other Side refers to a state of consciousness wherethe redemptive is achieved and one can see that All iswell for ever – how I wish that one could realise this formore than brief moments.”
Richard Cartwright was born in 1951 and studied brieflyat Goldsmiths School of Art. For forty years his work hasbeen concerned with the mysterious and spiritual and adesire to offer meaning beyond the expressiveness ofpaint alone. Cartwright has explored what he describesas the “yearnings of poor humans as we travel throughlife… like the lady clutching a bouquet as she walksthrough the bleak city.”
The Other Side is the artist’s twentieth solo exhibition.
