RICHMOND PUBLIC SCHOOLS
FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD
Dear Teacher of the Year Nominees,
On behalf of the School Board of the City of Richmond, we want to congrat-ulate you on your nomination for Richmond Public Schools Teacher of the Year. We are thrilled to be here with you to celebrate this achievement and recognize all of your hard work.
Great teaching doesn’t just happen. It takes practice, as you work to master your craft and to continue to refine it year after year. It takes sacrifice, as you take time away from your family and friends to grade exams and pre-
pare lessons. It takes love, as you work tirelessly to uplift, motivate and inspire each and every child who comes through your door. It takes extraordinary people, like yourselves, who continue to go above and beyond to provide our students with the skills and tools they need to be successful in life.
As teacher of the year nominees, you have already proven that you are leaders in your schoolbuilding, well-respected by your administration, colleagues and students. Your nomination istruly a testament to all of your tremendous work, both inside and outside of the classroom.
Today, we’re celebrating your achievements at the annual Teacher of the Year program. But wehonor and respect your work every day. Thank you for your countless hours, your continueddedication and your unyielding belief in all of our students. Congratulations!
Sincerely,
Dawn C. PageSchool Board Chairman, 8th District
FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Dear Teacher of the Year Nominees,
First, I want to offer heartfelt congratulations on your nomination as Richmond Public Schools Teacher of the Year. Anyone who’s spent time in our schools knows that we have some of the most extraordi-nary educators. You are dedicated, passionate, creative, caring, and filled with love and enthusiasm for our students - and your nomina-tions as Teacher of the Year has distinguished this group as some of the best that RPS has to offer.
Second, I want to thank you for your commitment and dedication to the students of RPS. I know that this work is not easy. You give constantly of yourselves - your time, your expertise, your money - all to ensure that our students are prepared to excel in college, career and in life. And, I know that you don’t hear it nearly enough, but you are appreciated. Thank you.
As you all know, I am a teacher at heart, so I may be a bit biased, but I truly believe that teaching is the greatest profession of all. No other career allows you to shape the minds and hearts of the future. No other career allows you to empower children to ensure that they have an equal chance at life through education. I could not be prouder to work alongside you and support the very important work that you do on a daily basis.
On behalf of the RPS Family, thank you for everything you do for our students and congratulations again.
With great appreciation,
Jason Kamras Superintendent
