Leaders Awards Day Thank you to all that attended and supported the Leaders Ceremony on Friday. This was a great day for our leaders and one where we all had the opportunity to recognise their commitment to the school. Well done Leaders. I would also like to also thank staff and students for their incredible effort with the food. It is always good to see the pride students have when sharing their hard work with the community. Spelling We are at the initial phases of implementing a school based spelling program. The program is known as Sound Waves. There will be a strong focus on the teaching of the core concepts within the spelling program and building a consistent language within the school. Reading FAB 4 Reciprocal Reading is still progressing. The staff are continuing to build their knowledge and practice and this will continue to be our school Explicit Improvement Agenda. School review We still do not have a date for our school review, but when we find out we will let parents know. The review is a part of the school planning phase and is instrumental in setting the school improvement agenda for the next 4 years. P&C I would like to take the chance to thank the outgoing 2108 P&C for their work over the past 12 months. The incoming P&C executive is President Suzanne Johnson, Treasurer Jamie McLachlan, Secretary Karen Kennedy, and Vice President Jane Green. Principals Conference The principal’s conference was again a great chance to catch up with other administrators and share ideas. The focus of this year is around continuing the great work that schools in Queensland have been doing, and building strong links with schools in our area to share our improvement strategies. Photos Photos are on the 19th of March, please make sure you all have your child/ren’s photo envelopes in. Swimming Carnival The school Swimming Carnival is on the 29th of March, make sure students have all of the clothing and equipment they will need and remember to enjoy the day. Grounds officer We are still advertising for a Grounds Officer so please help out and pass

Cluster Day!
On March 5th and 6
th, selected students from Richmond State School aged
between 10-12 years jumped on board the bus and travelled to Cloncurry to attend Cluster Day. This is a Mid-West event that allows students to trial for four sports (Rugby League, Touch Football, Netball and Soccer) all over two days. This saves a lot of time throughout the year and is a great way for students to meet or catch up with friends from other schools in our district. Tuesday afternoon we arrived in Cloncurry and we didn’t mess around. We headed straight to the Netball and Rugby oval and students got straight into the trials. It was a good thing we had a small lunch because I think we all ate our body weights in flies! Students did a terrific job throughout the skills and drills before moving onto games. These trials were tough, but we all know how tough our Richmond students are and they pushed through the pain and represented our school with great pride. After these trials we all headed to the pool for a cool down and were lucky enough to have steak sandwiches for dinner. This was a great way to relax and get prepared for another big day of trials tomorrow. The following morning Mr Caldow woke everyone up with the sound of “Eye of the Tiger” blasting from his phone. We fuelled up on toast and cereal and we headed straight to the oval to begin our touch football and soccer trials. It started off like a cool morning but by 10am it was close to 40 degrees and the flies were out in force. We probably didn’t need to eat breakfast….. These trials were long and tough but our students showed how determined they were to be selected into the Mid-West team. Overall, the two days were an absolute blast. I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of students to travel away with me for district sport. I had a great time and I know the students also did. We should be very proud of the way they handled themselves over the trip. Finally, I need to give a big thank you to both Terry Pattel and Miss O’Neil for joining us on our trip to Cloncurry and helping over the two days, not only myself but also the students appreciated your support. Congratulations to the following students for being selected in the mid-west team for the following sports. Netball - Charlie Limpus Rugby League - Jack Wharton, Landon Hughes, Mac Pattel, Ryan Gillatt Touch Football - Jack Wharton, Landon Hughes, Mac Pattel, Cooper Laidlow Soccer à Landon Hughes, Mac Pattel, Ryan Gillatt
Thank you! Mr Tom Caldow
Wow! Our students are fantastic, we are so proud of you all, there were eleven students who went to Cloncurry and they all performed extremely well and did our school, community and parents proud. Well done!
