    Duringasitevisittothe121stAirRefuelingWinginColumbus,Ohiotoreviewaninfraredapplicaonforasmallreceivingarea,AdvancedRadiantSystem

    representavenocedtwolargehangarsontheairfield. Whenaskedhowthosebuildingswereheatedthecommandingofficerrespondedstang,ith

    radiantheatalready,butitdoesntwork. Knowingthattheidealmethodofheang,anyaircra hangarwasinfraredheang,theofficerandARSs

    representaveimmediatelyreviewedtheinstallaoninthosebuildings. Uponinspeconitwasfoundthatthetypeofequipmentinstalledwas ulizing

    radiantoutputlinearunitsnotideallysuitedfortheextremeheightspresentedbyanaviaonapplicaon. Complaintsfromoccupantsandmaintenance

    personnelranfrom;itcantkeepupwhenitgetsrealcold,to,whenitrainsoutsideitrainsinsidebecauseofalloftheroofpenetraons.

    Eachbuildinghadsixtytwo150,000btustandardefficiencytubeheaterssuppliedbyadifferentmanufacturer. Eventhoughthecustomercomplained

    thatthesystemascurrentlyconfiguredcouldntheatthespace,ARSreplacedthemwith49AmbiRadVSXseries140,000btuunits.Thatsa26%decrease

    ninput! Itwasalsodecidedtoulizeamanifoldedsystemandventthroughthesidewall,thuseliminang100%ofthe22roofpenetraonsineach

    building! Theendresultwasadocumented30%+energysavingswithrecoverymesreducedby70%.

    TheAmbiRadVSXheaterhasaninsulatedcanopywhichminimizestheconveconlossesfromthetopoftheheater, deepdishreflectorswhich

    concentratetheradiantoutputfromtheheater,andinaddionithasapatentedrecuperaveheatexchanger. Thisheatexchangerusesheatintheflu

    gastopreheatthecombusonair. ThiscombinaonoftechnologiesallowstheVSXheatertoreachradiantoutputsinexcessof75%,thisisapproximat

    50%higherthantradionalradianttubeheaters.Other systems that boast high radiant efficiencies tend to be high intensity radiant heaters whican not be vented to the exterior. These open flame heaters can have issues with condensation, when the products of combustion come incontact with cold parts of the building structure. This certainly isnt the optimum condition for any building.

    NeedlesstosaytheAirNaonalGuardisdelightedwiththeperformance. FollowingthesuccessatRickenbacker,manyothermilitarysiteshavefollowedsuitwiththisstateofthearttechnology. Thethoughtprocessthatallradiantsystemsarecreatedequalisathingofthepast.New

    investment. Theperformanceofradiantheanghasbeentakentoanotherlevelanditiscricalthatthecorrectsystemisappliedproperlyfort
