Dear Sir or Madam

I am a student of architecture at the University of Dundee,

presently on a placement year out. Now that I am Part 1 qualified, I

am looking forward to applying the skills and experience that I

have gained thus far in my degree course, along with my passion

for architectural design and planning, in a professional setting.

At university I received a number of awards each year

acknowledging my dedication, willingness to learn and passion

towards architecture, including a Student of the Year Award. This,

along with the other awards, are detailed in this booklet. During

my studies I worked on a variety of projects ranging from small

scale residential schemes in rural settings to public buildings and

master planning within an urban context. As part of my course I

worked in project teams, both as a team member and as a leader, to

successfully complete and present assignments. I can provide

examples of these on request. This has given me excellent

presentation and communication skills which I am able to transfer

into my personal life (such as compering awards presentations for

local sports clubs).

In addition to my academic qualifications, I also have practical

experience of working as a part-time Customer Service Advisor at

Lakeland plc. Through this experience, I have developed a

proactive work ethos, effective team working skills and the ability

to set and achieve target driven objectives. I have also freelanced

as an artist specialising in ethnic arts such as henna painting and

rangoli. This has enabled me to gain skills in professional client

consultations and time management. It has also given me an eye

for detail and the ability to critically assess my work.

My technical skills include an excellent knowledge of AutoCAD,

3DStudio Max, Revit, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite and

Microsoft Office, and I am proficient in using these programs on

both Windows and Apple Macintosh computer systems where

applicable. Additionally, I have knowledge of the UK Building

Regulations and applied them to projects during my studies. Whilst

at university I developed and refined my hand-drawing and model

making skills to a high standard, and have taught model making

workshops at the Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre as a

representative of the University of Dundee.

I am keen to pursue a career in architecture and feel that I would

be a valuable asset to your team. I am a British citizen eligible to

work in the UK and I am available for an immediate start. Thank
