A Message from our PresidentWe hope you had a wonderful holiday season! 2020, a new year, brings the opportunity for a fresh start and a chance to follow through on resolutions to be our best selves. As your Houston RIMS Chapter President, I have a few resolutions of my own regarding the chapter. I hope to bring about growth in our membership and to see more involvement from both old and new members. I believe this can be achieved by tailoring our events to your interests and needs. That is something we will be working on.

I want to give a huge shout-out to Cindi Weldon and her board of directors who did an excellent job last year. I’d also like to welcome our new board members! Thank you for volunteering to take this chapter to the next level. When you get an opportunity please introduce yourself to the board.

I feel humbled, honored, and excited to be president of this chapter and am looking forward to working with each of you.

Jan 15th - Luncheon Meeting

RIMS Houston Chapter is proud to feature a current Board Advisor and highlight the great work being done for the chapter.

This month the spotlight is on Jason P. Cables, Board Advisor. Jason will aid in the planning of the fall conference, golf and other social events.

Jason is a forensic accountant at Ankura and specializes in the measurement and submission of business interruption, property, cyber, product recall and fraud insurance claims on behalf of the policy holder.

Jason loves spending time with his wife & kids (13 son & 11 daughter), traveling and just about anything outdoors (hunting, fishing, hiking and cycling).

The Houston Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS) will be sponsoring an ARM 401 (formerly ARM 55) class this Fall. This course is part of a three-semester specialty program leading to the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) Designation.

The course is open to the general public, including all risk management, insurance and safety professionals. Students will learn to enhance their contribution to their organization’s value by learning to assess and treat its risks, including supply chain risk, cyber risk, social media risk, climate change risk, reputation risk, and regulatory risk.
