Career plan by Amanda Icazatti When I begin to think about what I want to become and do when I graduate with a bachelor degree from the university, many things come to my mind. I want to contribute to my country, Puerto Rico and to the World. I have always had interest for the well-being of people. Being exposed to science courses so far during my bachelor degree, has instilled in me a broad view and understanding about the capabilities of science and all the things it has to offer for society, (and I know there is still a world for me to discover). When I began to explore possibilities and the different things I could study, an MD-PHD is the nearest to my interests. The reason that I am interested in having such a degree is because I will be able to assist people, not only with my knowledge in medicine, but with more advanced knowledge in a specific area of science. What would be interesting is that I will be able to solve patient’s struggles and at the same time do research looking for a way to treat and cure the person’s disease. I will also have the opportunity and possibility to translate my research into a way and a standard technique to be used by others to cure a disease that was being researched. I am very interested in areas such as Cytology, Genetics, and Regenerative Biology. I believe that these are all complementary branches of science that would help in the understanding of diseases, their managements, and even provide tools for the development of therapies. In addition, these are all areas of active research that can provide with answers unknown conditions in a person’s life. Biomedical research promises to be an area of great development for the welfare and health of the human race.

Career plan by Amanda Icazatti

When I begin to think about what I want to become and do when I graduate with a bachelor degree from the university, many things come to my mind.
