Magazines enhance advertising impact: Strong consumer experiences with magazines boost magazine advertising impactMagazine ads last: Consumers refer to magazines multiple times – even saving them, giving advertisers the opportunity for added exposures. Magazines supply credibility:

Consumers trust and believe magazine advertising more than advertising in other media.Magazines offer choice: Advertisers can choose from a wide range of titles, environments and “customizable” solutions that best suit advertisers’ needs. Magazine creative connects: Magazine ad content makes consumers laugh, cry, think, desire, ponder, smile and more. In short, magazine ads make people react – and connect with advertisers’ brands. Magazines provide reach – faster than you think: The top 25 magazines reach more teens and adults than the top 25 prime-time TV programs. The average magazine reaches almost two-thirds of its audience within a month’s time. Magazines target efficiently: With a range of titles that appeal to specific demographics, lifestyles and interests, advertisers can hone in on the targets that fit their needs. Magazines sell: Multiple studies have demonstrated that allocating more money to magazines in the media mix improves marketing and advertising ROI across a broad range of product categories. Magazines provide rich experiences: Readers experience magazines in meaningful ways, including: I get value for my time and money, It makes me smarter, It’s my personal time out and I often reflect on it. Magazines engage: 90% of magazine readers pay full and complete attention when reading magazines. Magazine readers demonstrate the lowest level of multitasking when compared with multitasking rates for other media.

A s you know winter is here, so I am giving

you a few tips to keep you looking glowy, fresh, and radiant even if it is cold out . 1. Always wear SPF ! I can’t stress enough how important it is to wear SPF. People assume since it isn’t summer you don’t need to wear SPF WRONG! UV rays can be damaging to the skin and can cause sun spots, wrinkles, and dryness. Try Cetaphil Face moisturizer. SPF 25 is good for daily use 2. Dry chapped lips ?Take a lip balm apply to your

lips, now get sugar from the kitchen and just rub it into your lips using circular motions, this technique will exfoliate all the dead skin off your lips. Rinse with luke warm water and re-apply your lip balm, this will leave them smooth and soft. Try jack black lip balm or Estée Lauder 8hr cream. 3. Holiday party lipNothing screams holiday more to me than a bold red lip! Start off with a red lip liner, line the lips, fill them in a bit with the pencil as if it were the lipstick, apply

your red lipstick, blot with a tissue this will ensure longevity, apply lipstick once more and top it off with either gloss to make a statement or translucent powder to keep a matte sophisticated look. If you come out the edges no worry take a synthetic angled brush a bit of your concealer and go around the edges and blend it. Try MAC ruby woo or lady danger lipstick. 4. Winged eyelinerYou want to start applying your eyeliner at the base of the lashes whether it’s liquid,

pencil, or gel making sure there isn’t any visible areas, don’t worry if your line isn’t straight we are going to fix that. Once this is done draw your flick starting at the outer corner of the eye. This is just a rough draft , now start at the center of your eye and begin creating your line bringing it back up to the flick. Always start thin in the inner corner and making the line thicker to the outer corner this is going to give the illusion of that sexy “cat eye”. Try revlon colorstay liquid liner or MAC blacktrack fluidline. 5. Smokey eyes When people think smokey they automatically assume black. The term “ smokey” is more so the technique starting with the darker color all over the lid then take a blending brush and your going to blend it out up into the crease, this is creating that gradient smoke effect. You also want to take the color under the lower lash line and connect that to the outer corner don’t forget to blend that as well. You can try an array of colors such as browns, purples, blues, greens. Try MAC carbon eyeshadow for the classic black smokey eye or try Makeupforever eyeshadow in color #92 for a fun purple twist, blending with a MAC 217 brush.

F all is here and so are its colors

- of both leaves and garments. 2011 into 2012 is already continuing the retro trend and more takes on classics of eras long past are coming out into play.Fashion is something most people are familiar with; the way a person dresses can speak volumes about their personality. From modern to retro, and from mainstream to custom, your garb has long been said to be an extension of your way of life. Of course what clothes are trending are what appeal to most. Whether they be short-lived fads or a long-running throwback to another time, if it is in, it will be embraced by many and donned by those who can afford it. Next up is a style dubbed Your Space: not having to do with interior design, it features - as Hart describes - “clever clean cuts in wearable pieces

which are driven by functionality and fit for purpose.” Like the flapper style dress, Your Space goes back

in time quite a few decades to the 1920s and 30s to draw on those decades’ fashionista muses. Taking on a

“uniformity which focuses on the essentials” as Hart puts it, the Your Space trend includes garments focusing

on the essentials. Such pieces being tea dresses, maxis and the aforementioned flapper girl dresses.

Minimalist is another key word with simple dresses and coats being cleverly tweaked with slashed, asymmetric neck-lines and collars with several layers. Last but not least, the 360° trend comes full circle (pun intended) by revolving around elements like movement. 360 degrees worth of movement drives this style, which in turn allows for a three-dimensional, panoramic view of garments that boast laser cut contours, and several other effects including twisting and draping. Chunky knits, fur bags and clutches inspired by the shape of a rugby ball will compliment the 360° trend nicely.

Step 2: Take the wide end behind the narrow end. Step 3: Bring the wide end across the layover. Step 4: Holding a finger in the loop, bring the wide end up, then down through the loop. Step 5: Holding the narrow end, pull the knot gently up to the top shirt button. When the knot is finished, the narrow end must be concealed and the wide end should be level with your belt.

DJ JUSTINEBIOGRAPHYJ ustine Yong was

born in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia on January 10th, 1996. She is living her dream in the entertainment industry already and she’s just 15! Justine goes by her stage name DJ JUSTINE. Being influenced by various artists and DJs, Justine has fully devoted her life into DJing. She is currently building up her reputation in the music world by playing in parties and events. She hopes to cover some major events and soon after she has completed her High School, Justine would take the world by storm. She has been well respected from the East Coast and from parts of the United States to the West Coast. She did not see this path at all before she developed her encyclopaedic knowledge of house music by involving herself in the latest music and making new friends by socializing with international and local DJs. She turned to music for motivation and a means to cope with issues in her life. From house parties to rave parties, the party

would not start until she walked in. “Music makes me happy and I want people to feel what I feel when they hear me play.” With this said, one thing led to another and Justine was on a path to something she had no control over. She has always had a keen interest in music. It started when she was making beats and playing music from her laptop and keeping the party going. Ever since the first time she got hold on a turntable she knew she could not be torn apart from it. It was at the age of fifteen that she found the one set of instruments that inspired greatness to her that is two turntables and a mixer Justine would roam the clubs trying to get the best view of the DJ booths, learning all she could and practicing until her mixing became perfect, never off beat. Justine’s passion for music culture fuelled her desire to major in music theory, to learn how to incorporate all types of genres in her career. Her talents became recognized very quickly. In such short time Justine has become a

name known as around for spinning the most exclusive tracks and keeping the crowd going with her amazing mixes and remixes. Justine is known for spinning House/Progressive House but she’s slowly taking up electro and trance to add to her style. She is determined and on a mission to spin all around the world and to do what she does best and spread the gift of music with her presence! Recently DJ Justine has been working with international and local DJs to gain more knowledge and experience about the music world. Justine has been on radio shows, appeared in papers and even in magazines throughout Asia. With the growing wide media she’s definitely a young talented artist that should be reckon with. Nevertheless, she wouldn’t make it this far without her fans. Therefore, she promises to keep your hands in the air with her tracks in return. In addition to that, Justine brings you music that’ll keep you dancing till the end of the night! Ph

S hould you warm up your car in winter?

It’s common practice, but you may be surprised at the consequences. 1. Driving Warms the Car Faster than Idling. If your concern is not the health of the car, but simply your own creature comforts, Bob Aldrich of the California Energy Commission points out that “idling is not actually an effective way to warm up a car — it warms up faster if you just drive it.” The coming electric cars, such as the Nissan Leaf, will

incorporate a wonderful feature that allows the owner to use a cellphone to tell the car (which is plugged into the grid) to pre-warm or pre-cool the interior. No idling necessary. 2. Ten Seconds Is All You Need. Environmental Defense Fund, which produced the Idling Gets You Nowhere campaign, advises motorists to turn off their ignition if they’re sitting stopped for more than 10 seconds. “After about ten seconds, you waste more money running the engine than restarting it, said Andy

Darrell, deputy director of the EDF Energy Program. “Switch the car off at the curb and you’ll be leaving money in your wallet and protecting the air in your community.” 3. Idling Hurts the Car.According to the Hinkle Charitable Foundation’s Anti-Idling Primer, idling forces an engine “to operate in a very inefficient and gasoline-rich mode that, over time, can degrade the engine’s performance and reduce mileage.” 4. Idling Costs Money.Over a year of five minutes

of daily idling (which causes incomplete combustion of fuel), the “Anti-Idling Primer” estimates that the operator of a V-8-engined car will waste 20 gallons of gasoline, which not only produces 440 pounds of carbon dioxide but costs at least $60. 5. Idling in the Garage Can Kill You. Idling a car in a garage, even with the door open, is dangerous and exposes the driver to carbon monoxide and other noxious gases. If the garage is attached, those fumes can also enter the house.

The importance of good credit:The need to maintain a good credit rating is a fact of life. In order to get things that we need to survive, we need credit. Read on to learn the importance of maintaining a good credit rating and how it could affect your finances.

Mortgage:Teetering on the line between moderate and good credit could cost tens of thousands of dollars. As the applicant’s credit score goes lower, the interest rate on a mortgage goes higher. Employment:Employers are

pulling more credit reports than applicants think. They view a potential employee’s credit report as a reflection of your character. Utilities:Utility companies check credit reports for financial history before agreeing to provide you with their services. Any sign of financial trouble could cost you a huge security deposit. Personal Loans:Those who are lucky enough to find an approval for a personal loan

with less than perfect credit will pay high payments and huge in interest rates. Apartments:Potential landlords will often check your credit. If your credit is less than stellar, you may be denied that dream apartment you

were planning on renting.

So on 2012 let’s get to work on improving our credit score…and good luck everyone…

H elping Your Child Through a Divorce.

Thousands of kids experience the stress of divorce each year. How they’ll react depends on their age, personality, and the particular circumstances of the separation and divorce process. Every divorce will have an effect on the kids involved and many times the initial reaction is one of shock, sadness, frustration, anger, or worry. But kids can also come out of it better able to cope with stress, and many become more flexible, tolerant young adults. The most important things that both parents can do to help kids through this difficult time are: 1. Encourage kids to discuss their feelings positive or negative about what’s happening. It’s important for

divorcing and already divorced parents to sit down with their kids and encourage them to share what they’re thinking and feeling. Be prepared to answer questions your kids might ask and undertake their concerns with patience, love and understanding. 2. Help your kids understand that the divorce is NOT their fault. It’s expected for kids to have various emotions about a divorce. They might feel guilty and feel that they “caused” the problem. Kids may feel angry or scared, and anxious and confused. Even if it seems like you’ve gone over the same topics before, keep the dialogue open and safe. Remember, they are going through a divorce just like you. 3. Do NOT bad-mouth your ex in front of the kids,

even if you’re still angry or feuding. It is important for you to be a responsible role model. The problems, betrayal, and challenges you face with your ex are not your children’s. Bad-mouthing your ex often backfires. No child likes to hear a parent being criticized, especially if it’s by the other parent. Kids can get angry at the parent who is saying the bad things, or worse, learn that unkind behavior is appropriate when they are mad. Divorce is one of the

most emotionally difficult experiences any human will go through. It is understandable that, despite your best intentions, you might want to transmit your pain and anger, and attempt to get your children on YOUR side. All I can tell you is; DON’T. This is your time as a parent, to show your child(ren) what you are truly made of. And my hope is that you will use this very tragic time to teach your child(ren) you are made of the right stuff.

7 TIPS TO HELP OUR PLANET & SAVE MONEY TOO...

MAINGATE NIGHTCLUB

1. Save energy to save money: Set your thermostat a few degrees lower in the winter and a few degrees higher in the summer to save on heating and cooling costs.

2. Save water to save money: Take shorter showers to reduce water use. This will lower your water and heating bills too. Install a low-flow showerhead. They don’t cost much, and the water and energy savings can quickly pay back your investment. 3. Less gas = more money (and better health!): Walk or bike to work. This saves on gas and parking costs while improving

your cardiovascular health and reducing your risk of obesity. Consider telecommuting if you live far from your work. Or move closer. Even if this means paying more rent, it could save you money in the long term. 4. Eat smart:If you eat meat, add one meatless meal a week. Meat costs a lot at the store-and it’s even more expensive when you consider the related environmental and health costs. Buy locally raised, humane, and organic meat, eggs, and dairy whenever you can. Purchasing from local farmers keeps money

in the local economy. 5. Skip the bottled water:Use a water filter to purify tap water instead of buying bottled water. Not only is bottled water expensive, but it generates large amounts of container waste. Bring a reusable water bottle, preferably aluminum rather than plastic, with you when traveling or at work. 6. Keep electronics out of the trash: Keep your cell phones, computers, and other electronics as long as possible. Donate or recycle them responsibly when the time comes. E-waste contains mercury and other toxics and

is a growing environmental problem. 7. Make your own cleaning supplies: The big secret: you can make very effective, non-toxic cleaning products whenever you need them. All you need are a few simple ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, lemon, and soap. Making your own cleaning products saves money, time, and packaging-not to mention your indoor air quality.

I have a great supportive family and a huge circle of great friends! what I can say was hard, was finding myself! Finding out the person I really am and I thank god I found that person! its not about what people think of me.

WHO CARES I wasn’t put on earth to have anyones stamp of approval of who I am! We live in a world that judgement is normal, we all get judged! its wasn’t about me being myself. It was about finding myself within! we as people in the society we live in today need to learn how to keep it real with ourselves before PRETENDING to keep it real with others.

Be who you really are not what people portray to be! We have to be fearless. We have to take chances. We can’t live life just being afraid of what comes next. That’s not what living is about. anyone can LIVE LIFE. But I say why not live life happy? Why not live the life you’ve imagined? You only live once.... if you live it right once is enough! Everyone goes through their problems but in life we gotta learn to stand strong and learn from your mistakes and generate a much greater path to success cause no one is going to believe in you unless you believe in yourself! Nothing about yourself should bring you down. Be comfortable in your own skin! no matter your gender, your age, your skin color, your nationality, your style, your sexual orientation, your weight, your height! YOU ARE YOU and thats what makes your different! WHY try to fit in? In my opinion you get more respect keeping it real with yourself and being who you inside and out than to hide the person you really are with a fraud perception you are trying to give other of yourself! To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself! As well as wishing you were someone else is like wasting the person you really

are! I live, I love, I laugh, I cry. I’m not perfect. No one is, not you or I. That is what makes us human! What makes us stand apart from one another is who we are on the inside!.... and what we are on the inside is what matters! They say “If you judge a book by its cover, you might miss out on an amazing story.” LOOK AT IT THIS WAY. By being yourself from the start you give no one room to judge you! Well who am I to say they wont judge you... better yet YOU give them the first impression of who you really are and FIRST IMPRESSION IS WHAT COUNTS! if those who matter to you in life cant accept who you really are. Then they SHOULDN’T matter! Moral of the my story here is EVERYONE GOES THROUGH THINGS IN LIFE AND IT DOESNT MAKE US LESS OF A PERSON.... WEARING A MASK HIDING THE PERSON YOU REALLY ARE IS GONNA BE HARD TO TAKE OFF AFTER EVERYONE ALREADY HAS A PERCEPTION OF YOU! STAND YOUR GROUND AND BE WHO YOU WANNA BE NOT WHAT PEOPLE WANT YOU TO BE!

A llow me to introduce “Ask Mr. Pix”, my new

column right here on Ritmo Magazine. Ask Mr. Pix will touch on and share a variety of ideas, methods and techniques all with the ultimate goal of helping guys get the girl they want. No, this is not about cheating or infidelities. This is 100% intended for single guys who may have problems meeting girls, maintaining a relationship, or may have difficulties transitioning from going out on dates to restaurants and movies, to getting intimate in the bedroom, or the living room, or the car… you get the idea. Some of the methods and techniques I’ve used are very different from what you maybe accustomed to and sometimes they might even seem counterproductive, some work 100% of the time, and others will require practice and trial and error. Check out the following scenario to get a better idea:You see 3 hot girls hanging by a somewhat crowded bar and you want to make sure the hottest girl in the pack notices you… The shy guy would go behind the girls to get a drink and not even look at the girlsThe normal guy will go to get a drink and try to start a conversation with the hottest girl in the group, get his drink and eventually be dismissed by the hot girl because he

might just be the 100th guy who tried to hit on her that dayMr. Pix would walk straight up to the group, making eye contact with the hottest girl (she might be thinking “great another one”), stand right in between the group as he orders and picks up his drink, complement and small talk the girl next to the hottest and then leave wishing the girls a great night. Hot girls are used to getting all the attention and they get to dismiss guys. By doing this, you take that power away from her and guess what… you’re probably the first guy in a while that didn’t try to hit on her. At this moment she doesn’t even know why but she keeps looking at you and feels like she has to win you over. So you’re in need of another drink and this time around you walk over to the bar looking at the girl you talked to before. The hot girl might be thinking “Is he not going to talk to me again?” and when you get there you just say hi and order your drink, then you turn to the hot girl and complement her and start talking to her. Now she’s pleased to be the center of your attention and will most likely be willing to talk for a while. You MUST end the conversation before she does, in order to keep the dismissal power away from her. In future editions we will discuss how to transition to

turning the night into your first date with her, to getting her number, to making sure you get a 2 date and much more. I look forward to reading and answering your questions, and helping you get more

dates and that girl you love.
