The myriad benefits of

practicing asana postures are

widely appreciated in the West,

but the physical aspects of yoga

represent only a fraction of this

ancient tradition. Nonsectarian

source texts such as the

Yoga Sutra of Patanjali offer

timeless wisdom and practical

guidelines that support personal

transformation on all levels. We

will use integrated practices of

movement, call-and-response

chanting and contemplation to

reflect on key sutras. Using the

sutras as a guide, students are

invited to reconnect with core

values and personal purpose.

River Cummings

is a dedicated

student and

teacher in the

yoga tradition of

T.K.V. Desikachar and

T. Krishnamacharya. She holds

Yoga Instructor and Yoga Therapist

certifications from the American

Viniyoga Institute, and offers one-

on-one yoga therapy, workshops

and retreats worldwide.

Shambhala Mountain Center is located on six hundred

acres in a mountain valley of pine forests and meadows,

just under two hours from Boulder. Our rural setting

provides an ideal environment for meditation, yoga,

retreats, and conferences.
