• 2009 – EPA traced Passaic River discharge to pipe on site
• 2009-2014 - EPA found illegally stored chemicals & took several actions including:– plugging discharge pipes– removing drums & tanks
• 2013 - added to Superfund List• 2014 - EPA signed agreement
with PPG to study the site

Riverside Status• 2017 – EPA approved the Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Study
(RI/FS) Work Plan • August 2017 to June 2018 - Phase 1 field investigations• January 2018 – City of Newark executed redevelopment agreement:
– 5 Lots within the Site and 6 Lots North of the Site– Future warehousing/light manufacturing– Environmental remediation
• March 2018 – EPA approved PPG’s aggressive 2-year schedule to RI/FS completion – Timed to coincide with redeveloper’s 2 year due diligence period
