BOOK WEEK

This term the Year 2 students have been very engaged with their writing units. We have learnt how to write a non-chronological report. To engage thestudents in the topic, posters were displayed around our classes alerting thestudents of a dragon sighting. This created an opportunity for students toengage their imagination and create a report based on what dragon it mightpossibly be. During their Talk for Writing lessons, students learn the actions toa model text and then innovate on the text with their own ideas. After theyhave created their text, students are guided to improve and refine their writingbefore publishing to share with an audience.

ROOM 15 , YR 1

We have been immersing ourselves in the 'Talk For Writing' process, andbecoming quite the little authors. We are getting really good at puttingcapitals at the beginning of a sentence or for the names of people, places andthings and nearly always remember to put full stops at the end of oursentences. We are also getting pretty clever at adding adjectives and verbs toour writing to make it more interesting. We have been learning the text 'LittleRed Riding Hood', and are now learning to change the characters and settingto create new stories. We look forward to seeing and sharing any stories youand your child create together. Happy writing!
