From the desk of the Director…
Happy New Year! Here is to 2018! I wanted to give you a few updates of the “goings on” here at the Center.
1. Thank you to everyone who has sent in their donations for our annual Mail Appeal. Your support for our programs and services are invaluable to RCAC.
We have begun listing the donations in this newsletter. 2. Make sure you check out the newsletter for some new classes and events
starting in January, including Yoga Lite. 3. Also check out the back of the newsletter for some exciting things coming in
February! 4. Last, remember as the days get colder to bring a sweater with you if you get
cold easily. We keep the building at 70 degrees but sometimes it can be a little drafty.

CENTER NEWS CENTER CLOSURES
RCAC will be closed on the following days:
Monday, January 1, 2018
and
Monday, January 15, 2018
There will be no congregate or home delivered meals and the RCAC bus will not run those
days.
CLOSURE POLICY
The winter months are here, so tune into KDKA TV for RCAC
closings/delays.
If Pittsburgh Public Schools are closed, OPT/ACCESS does not
run.
COLD AND FLU SEASON
With cold and flu season upon us, please take an extra minute to use the hand sanitizer at the
front desk.
Also, if you have a cold or the flu, PLEASE stay home!!!
YOGA LITE
MONDAYS @ 9:30 AM
$3.00 PER CLASS
Melissa Havran, certified Yoga instructor from Homegrown Yoga in
Oakmont, will be offering a Yoga Lite class for Seniors on Mondays at
9:30am. Yoga Lite is a gentle, supportive class designed for seniors. Students will learn how to maintain
strength, increase flexibility, improve balance, and develop mental focus. All
poses in this class are at a beginners
level.
January Birthday Lunch Friday, January 19
There will be a birthday dessert for those having January birthdays. Please RSVP by January 17
SOUP IS BACK!!!!
In January Elaine will be bringing back her homemade soup on
Tuesdays, beginning January 9, 2018. The cost of soup will be $3.00 a bowl and reservations must be made
the Friday before.

Volunteers are needed for the Home Delivered Meals
kitchen and to help deliver meals.
Call the Center if you have a hour or
two to help.
SCALE DOWN MEETS THURSDAYS @ 10:30AM
We are a group program that starts with information about healthy aging that
emphasizes your health and well-being, where the focus is on being active and
losing weight.
Our group will be a source of learning, encouragement and support. Come and
join us.
DONATIONS NEEDED
The Center library is in need of large print books. Please, if you have any,
considering donating them to us!

RCAC BUS INFORMATION
Pick up times in Oakmont: 8:30, 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30
Pick up times in Verona: 9, 10, 11, 1, 2, 3
RCAC bus runs Monday – Friday, NO WEEKENDS
You MUST CALL RCAC AT LEAST RCAC 1 HOUR before you want a ride at 412-828-1062. There are a limited numbers of riders per time
slot, so please do not wait till the last minute.
PLEASE NOTE: RCAC only takes ride reservations for the day of. Please do not call the day before for a ride. There is a really good
possibility it will get lost.
THERE IS NO BUS AT NOON OR 12:30PM
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU GO TO GIANT EAGLE AT 10:30 AM, THE EARLIEST BUS FOR RETURN IS 1:00 PM.

Responsibility!! It is your responsibility to sign up for lunch by noon the day before. We order only as many lunches for those who sign
up in advance. We cannot guarantee that there will be extra
food!
Remember!! It is very important that you stop at the Front Desk and sign yourself in on Co-Pilot every
time you come into the Center. This is a requirement of Allegheny
County.
All times are subject to change depending on the OPT schedule.
