Dr. Tarig Enaya joined STC as a Senior VP for the Enterprise Business Unit. He has a distinguished

executive career with considerable experience, awards and accomplishments in the IT and communi-

cations industries. He has held senior executive roles with renowned organizations such as Saudi

Ministry of Health, Intel and Cisco. His latest role before joining STC was Managing Director for Cisco

in Saudi Arabia, in which he doubled the size of the business in 2 years. As VP of IT and Communica-

tion and CIO at King Fahad Medical City, he managed and Transformed KFMC IT department into

modernized state of the art facility.

Dr. Tarig completed his B.S. and Master Degree in Electrical Engineering 1996 and 1998 respectively

from Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida (USA) and his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering in 2001 also

from Florida Tech.

He is also the Chairman of the Board for Bravo Co. and member of the board for STC – Advance

Solutions.

He is married and have six children with the family permanently residing at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Ramesh R. Rao. Dr. Rao has been a faculty member at UC San Diego since 1984, and Director of

the Qualcomm Institute, UCSD division of the California Institute for Telecommunications and

Information Technology (Calit2), since 2001. He holds the Qualcomm Endowed Chair in Telecommu-

nications and Information Technologies in the Jacobs School of Engineering at UCSD, and is a

member of the school’s Electrical and Computer Engineering department.

Prior to QI (Calit2), Professor Rao served as the Director of UCSD’s Center for Wireless Communica-

tions (CWC). Dr. Rao is involved on a day-to-day basis with a wide variety of research initiatives at QI.

He leads several major interdisciplinary and collaborative projects and has been a PI on dozens of

federal-, state-, foundation- and industry-funded grants. Dr. Rao is an IEEE Fellow and Senior Fellow

of the California Council on Science and Technology. He was named a Member of the UC San Diego

Health System Advisory Board, a Member of the Board of the Academy of Neurosciences for Architec-

ture, a Member of the Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center Board IT Task Force and serves as

the Vice President of the San Diego Indian American Society.

Dr. Rao earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park in

1984, after receiving his M.S. from the same institution in 1982. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in

1980 from the University of Madras (the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli). Dr. Rao

received the distinguished alumnus award from the National Institute of Technology in 2010, the ECE

Distinguished alumni award from the University of Maryland in 2012, the Professional Gordon

Engineering Leadership Award from UCSD’s Gordon Engineering Leadership Center in 2010. He also

received the 2011 Casa Familiar Abrazo Award for engagement with underprivileged area of San

Before joining Sigfox in 2015, Nicolas started his career the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs from

Prof. Muhammad Khurram Khan is currently working as a Full Professor at the Center of Excellence

in Information Assurance (CoEIA), King Saud University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is one of the

founding members of CoEIA and has served as the Manager R&D from March 2009 to March 2012. He

developed and successfuly managed the research program of CoEIA, which transformed the center

as one of the best centers of research excellence in Saudi Arabia as well as in the region.

Prof. Muhammad Khurram Khan is the Editor-in-Chief of a well-esteemed ISI-indexed international

journal 'Telecommunication Systems' published by Springer-Verlag since 1993 with an impact factor

of 1.542 (JCR 2016). He is the Founding Editor of 'Bahria University Journal of Information & Communi-

cation Technology (BUJICT)'.

Furthermore, he is the full-time Editor/Associate Editor of several ISI-indexed international

journals/magazines, including IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials, IEEE Communications

Magazine, Journal of Network & Computer Applications (Elsevier), IEEE Transactions on Consumer

Electronics, IEEE Access, Security & Communication Networks, IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine,

He has published more than 325 papers in the journals and conferences of international repute. In

addition, he is an inventor of 10 US/PCT patents. He has edited 7 books/proceedings published by

Springer-Verlag and IEEE. He has secured several national and international competitive research

grants with an amount of over USD 2 Million in the domain of Cybersecurity. Prof. Khurram has

played a leading role in developing 'BS Cybersecurity Degree Program' and 'Higher Diploma in

Cybersecurity' at King Saud University. His research areas of interest are Cybersecurity, digital authen-

tication, biometrics, multimedia security, IoT security, cloud computing security, and technological

innovation management.

Dr. Ziyad Alshaikh is the Director of Vision Realization Office. Dr. Ziyad has attained his PhD from The

Australian National University. His research focused on modelling software-system boundaries for

requirements and architecture. His work resulted in developing an approach to systematically synthe-

sise system/software stakeholder needs for requirements and software architecture and design.

Mohammed Bin Sayyaf graduated from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM)

with a bachelor degree in electrical engineering with honors, and started his journey of entrepre-

neurs by establishing a number of companies and establishments in various fields.

Currently, Eng. Mohammed holds a number of positions, most notably, Chairman of NOMD Holding

Co. He is also Vice Chairman of Future Horizons Investment Company, and Chairman of Machinestalk

Company, which is the first in the field of internet of things (IoT) in Saudi Arabia. During his career, Ibn

Sayyaf won a number of awards in the ICT sector as Best Mobile Partner in the Middle East, Africa and

Eastern Europe for 2009 from Kaspersky International company, and awarded the Best Marketing

Award by USU Co, Germany.

As a father of six children, Eng. Mohammed believes in the importance of investing in young people.

His initiatives in this regard include his membership in Oqal Group, which is based on bringing young

male and females who have ideas and projects together with with investors to achieve tomorrow's

Dr. Fahad Hussain Mushayt is the Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Telecom Company – Specialized

(STC SC) from January 1st, 2016 to Present. Leading STC SC, the execution arm of STC for mission

critical communications, to be the exclusive provider of integrated and secure critical communica-

tions services required by all vital sectors in the KSA.

On the period from Jan to Dec 2015 he has appointed as the Vice President of Business Development

at STC. He joined STC in 2000 in Corporate Planning Department, moved subsequently, in July 2004

as the Head of STC Strategic Investments Unit, reporting to the CEO. In this role, Dr. Mushayt initiated,

managed, closed and subsequently oversaw in excess of US$ 8 Billion in investments by STC in KSA

and globally.

On June 15th 2011, he was appointed Vice President of Corporate Strategy, reporting to the Group

CEO. In this role, Dr. Mushayt’s responsibilities included promoting the growth agenda of STC enhanc-

ing the competitive position of the company.

Prior to joining STC, Dr. Mushayt spent about two years with the Saudi Industrial Development Fund.

Dr. Fahad earned Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research from King Saud University,

Riyadh, in 1991. He earned Master of Science Degree in Economics from California State Polytechnic

University, Pomona, in 1995. He obtained his Doctorate of Philosophy in Political Economy and Public

Policy from the University of Southern California L.A. in 1999. He has also completed a variety of

management programs from INSEAD, London Business School, and Stanford.

Dr. Fahad served as a Vice President of the Telecom Development Advisory Group (TDAG) of the

International Telecommunications Union (ITU) for 3 consecutive years (2003 to 2005). He also was a

member of the board of many international and local companies (with board committees’ responsi-

bilities), including: Maxis Communications Holding (Private, Malaysia), Maxis (Listed, Malaysia), Axis

Q1 What are the challenges you foresee with the prevailing Marketing Conditions?Though it is palpable that IoT lowers the business operating cost and helps to ensure client satisfac-

tion however under a depress economic condition across the Globe, the biggest challenge is to

motivate top management for starting, investing in, and operating a IoT based business model,

without having a tangible business benefits upfront hence it is extremely important that the digital

transformation journey should be fully backed up by the top officials.

Further, given that the market lacks the knowledgeable IoT resources who can bring value to the

3. What are the dangers of Artificial Intelligence? Artificial Intelligence will only create new unexplored opportunities.

Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence aren’t the enemy of jobs. New technologies

actually end up creating different, higher-paying jobs than the ones they replace. Automation is

certainly not about replacing employees with machines. Rather, it’s about speeding up tasks that

take more time than businesses can afford to give to them as they seek to innovate at pace and

achieve greater profitability through efficiency and by enabling people to focus on more valuable

tasks.

It is about improving the decision-making capabilities of people by arming them with a richness of

highly relevant, topical and timely data that otherwise would not be possible to collect.

For example in an HR function, processes such as uploading job descriptions, screening applicant

resumes, and filling out compliance forms take time away from doing truly value-added functions,

such as helping employees reorient their careers, or helping executives become better managers.

Meanwhile, intelligent applications within HR systems can automate some of those more mundane

chores and help HR staff realize more of their own potential. Far from taking over HR jobs, AI and

other emerging technologies enable HR professionals to redefine their roles and to refocus their
