RIVERSIDE CAMPUS

NHS Inducts Newest MembersRiverside High School’s annual induction

ceremony for the Dr. Mary Allen Porter Chapter of the National Honor Society was this past November.

To be eligible for membership consideration, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5. Additionally, potential members must meet high standards of leadership, service and character. Members of the Sophomore, Junior and Senior classes that met the G.P.A. requirement and completed the NHS packet were evaluated by the five-member Faculty Council.

Leadership is based on the student’s participation in community or school activities, or appointment or election to an office. To meet the service requirement, the student must have been active in three or more service projects in the school or community. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics, and cooperation with both students and faculty.

Congratulations to each of the 34 students inducted into the Riverside Chapter of National Honor Society this year.

Holiday Season HappeningsRiverside Campus students and staff combined to raise more than

$4,000 for its 15th annual Day of Caring. The money was used to purchase items from Target to help 13 families in need that live in the District. In addition, the fundraiser also helped support the Riverside Campus Care Closet, which is housed in the high school’s media center and carries school supplies and personal care items for students in need. Thank you to all the students and staff who made this year’s fundraiser an enormous success

Also a big thank you to all the Riverside families in the community who attended our second annual Halls of Holly Winter Festival on December 15. In addition, thank you to all the Riverside High School staff and students who volunteered countless hours to coordinate this year’s event.

Halls of Holly is a holiday-themed, family friendly, free community event geared toward 3-10-year-olds in the Riverside Local School District. The high school was transformed into Candy Cane Lane with several rooms dedicated to story times, craft stations, cookie decorations, games and more.

While the event was free, monetary donations were collected for local charities.
