New Extrication Tools for Asquith Fire Department

Last month the

Asquith Fire De-

partment

aquired a new set of ex-

trication tools to add to

their arsenal of life sav-

ing equipment.

Until now, if they re-

sponded to a call that

required extrication

from a newer vehicle,

they had to call in the

Delisle or Langham de-

partments, which

added up to 30 minutes

that a victim had to

wait for treatment.

According to Blaine

Ganchar of the Asquith

Department, the equip-

ment they had up until

now could not cut

through the harder

steel of newer vehicles.

So last year the depart-

ment applied, and was

approved for a 50%

Federal grant and

began fundraising to

purchase the new

equipment, worth over

$27,000. Along the

way, the federal gov-

ernment cut the grant

program. Fortunately

the Provincial Fire

Commissioner’s office

was able to assist in

getting the province to

make up the shortfall

and put the project

back on track.

The new equipment in-

cludes a cutter,

spreader, single cylin-

der rams, hoses and a

hydraulic pump. The

new cutter has over

200,000 pounds cutting

strength.

The equipment is also

the same as the Delisle

Fire Department, so it

can be interchanged if

they respond to the

same call.

The Asquith Fire De-

partment volunteers

will now be going

through training to

learn how to properly

use the new higher

power equipment.

The Friday Night Concert Series kicked off

in Delisle on November 23 featuring

singer/song writer Stephen Maguire.

Involved in music from a young age, Stephen

grew up listening to his parents’ record collec-

tion. His father Patrick Maguire, who played in

show bands and rock & roll bands in the 60s (in-

cluding with Van Morrison!) would play cas-

settes of The Mamas & the Papas, The Beach

Boys and Irish traditional music. Stephen began

his career in musicals performing at leading ven-

ues in N. Ireland, including the Grand Opera

House, Lyric Theatre and Belfast Waterfront. He

also appeared at the Manchester Apollo Theatre

(England) and His Majesty’s Theatre in Ab-

erdeen (Scotland). In 2001, Stephen signed with

the N. Irish band Unity. Among the band’s high-

lights: supporting chart-topping band Westlife

on their “Unbreakable” tour. Throughout Unity’s

time together, they performed for over a quarter

of a million people. A memorable gig was at a

Belfast Giants game, which resulted in Stephen

meeting his now-wife, a Saskatchewan-born pub-

licist who was interning with the professional

hockey team. They married in 2007 and Stephen

has been taking Canada by storm ever since.

The Friday Night Concert Series brings a sense

of community home with a potluck supper before

the performance and dessert and coffee follow-

ing. Small town community gatherings are still

alive and they can encompass a broad world of

culture. You’ll want to attend the second in this

series on Jan 25 featuring Sylvia & Friends

Now that December has arrived, we will be swept

into the frenzied world of the Christmas season.

Though this holiday celebration is rooted in

Christian religion, it carries a broader meaning

across many cultures as simple a time for giving

(or getting, depending on how you look at it). On

the heels of American Black Friday and Cyber

Monday, shoppers will be packing the stores to

jam a welcome flood of cash into many parched

economies around the world. As every year, we

will set off in search of the ‘perfect gift’.

Cash in hand, we’re off to upgrade to the latest

iPad, iPhone or iThing, or to get the kids what-

ever todays Cabbage Patch doll or Tickle Me

Elmo is (though from what I have seen in the

news, it is Elmo who has been doing the tickling).

Whatever quest you are on, I am sure you have

worked hard all year and been very good boys

and girls, so you deserve it. Go for it.

Now that you are in such a ‘giving’ mood, take a

look outside your personal space at the world

around you. Not the middle east meltdowns or

the perpetual American election campaigns, but

rather the world right under your feet.

We are fortunate to live in a wonderful small

community setting. A place where everyone

knows everyone. You do know everyone around

here don’t you? If not, maybe you should, and

here’s how...

There are plenty of opportunities for you to find

Christmas presents from local businesses instead

of from a crowded mall. We have quality restau-

rants to eat at instead of a ‘convenient’ drive

through. There are plays, concerts, pageants and

hockey games going on that would make for a

nice ‘movie night’ out for the family.

This might be just the time to remind yourself

why you choose to live in a community such as

this, and find all the ‘gifts’ it has... for you!

In the process you will likely meet some of those

‘everyones’ you thought you knew. And the more

of them you meet the more ‘gifts’ you are going to

receive. Now there is a chance that you might

meet someone that you actually like. You might

start doing crazy things, like shoveling a seniors

walk, or taking a meal over to a shut in, or maybe

even visiting with someone who lives alone.

Surprise !! You have just found the perfect gift !

Enjoy the Christmas Season

Food for Thought

Agroup of

agricul-

tural in-

dustry people

were sitting

around recently

discussing the

items that were

high priority for

Saskatchewan’s

agricultural

economy. There

was no shortage

of suggestions,

including irriga-

tion, the water

supply for

Regina and sur-

rounds, and etc;

all worthy but

high cost items.

Of course in

every case the

unanswered

question is,

where does the

money come

from?

Following are

some half-gelled

ideas, but wor-

thy of considera-

tion

nevertheless.

First there is the

observation that

Saskatchewan is

a target for for-

eign investors;

however they

are looking for

something that

they can gain

some equity in

and be comfort-

able that their

risk is manage-

able. That situa-

tion probably

needs legislation

or regulations

plus some offi-

cial government

hand holding to

build up their

confidence.

Some foreign in-

vestors have

very deep pock-

ets and under

the proper cir-

cumstances

might invest in a

large project as a

profit center. For

example; develop

an irrigation dis-

trict with expec-

tations of

returns at mar-

ket rates. Or

construct a dam

with expecta-

tions of being

paid off over

time, or through

receiving annual

fees.

The recent offer

to purchase by

Maple Leaf and

Olymel, of Pura-

tone and Big Sky

respectively

raises the much

discussed value

chain stretching

from the pro-

ducer through

the value-added

stages to the

final market. In-

terestingly the

domestic propo-

sition may have

more pitfalls

than having for-

eign investors

with limited in-

fluence on Cana-

dian sovereignty.

If you have

ideas; yea or nay

send them in for

discussion and

debate.

It’s been some time

since we gave you

an update on the

water project. We have

been making progress

although slower than

we had hoped.

We are in the final few

days of the pre design

phase. Our engineers

have advised that it

will be completed by

the end of the month.

We have seen a draft

summary of the report

and have made some

recommendations and

sent it back for final

development.

Our next step will be to

review the final pre de-

sign report and once we

are comfortable with

its contents, particu-

larly with the esti-

mated cost, we will sit

down with the four

high volume users; the

Village of Vanscoy,

Agrium Potash, Pike

Lake Provincial Part,

and Cedar Villa. These

four subscribers repre-

sent about 60% of the

water usage and it’s

going to be very impor-

tant to have them in

agreement and pre-

pared to sign a user’s

agreement. If for any

reason one or more of

these high volume

users elect to pull out

that will make a huge

impact on the design.

In addition we have a

number of large farm

operations that will

also require individual

attention and meetings

to confirm their com-

mitment. These are

medium volume users

that require in excess

of 10 gallons per

minute.

Once the committee

gets through these

meetings and if there

are no major surprises

or changes to the pre

design we will call a

public meeting with the

balance of the sub-

scribers. Should any of

the high or medium

volume subscribers re-

quest major changes it

will be necessary to do

some reengineering.

We are at the point

where any major

changes will affect the

entire cost of the proj-

ect. We will keep you

informed of our

progress.

In the meantime we

have been meeting

with elected officials in

the hopes of acquiring

government grants.

Long story short we are

moving ahead as

quickly as possible and

getting very close to

knowing what our costs

will be.

Asquith’s Opera-

tion Santa is a

Christmas Ham-

per program that was

formed by a group of

concerned citizens in

Asquith who wanted to

help needy people. The

program is starting its

thirteenth year. Every

year, the community of

Asquith and area is

generous in their sup-

port, both monetary

and in donated grocery

items. Gifts for the

children of the needy

families have been do-

nated in past years, as

well as lovely hand-

knitted toques and mit-

tens for the children.

Last year, the program

provided hampers and

groceries to six family

units, in which there

were ten children.

Thanks to the generos-

ity of the community, a

small gift for each child

was also provided with

the hamper.

The program is being

run again this year,

with a goal to provide

grocery and Christmas

Meal hampers, as well

as small gifts for the

children, to the families

that require. Request

forms are available at

the Asquith Co-op, the

General Store, the Post

Office and the Town of-

fice. All recipients’

names are very confi-

dential; we protect

each person’s dignity.

Applicants are

screened to ensure that

help is directed where

most needed. All re-

quests for hampers

MUST be turned in to

the Asquith Town Of-

fice by December 7th,

2012. If you are want-

ing to donate a small

gift for a child, this

must be turned in to

the Town office prior to

the December 7, 2012

deadline.

We are appealing to

our entire community

to be a part of this. We

would like to thank you

for any help you might

be able to give, be it in

the form of a food drive

for donated grocery

items or a cash dona-

tion. We do not give

cash out to families or

individuals, rather all

cash donations are

used to purchase ap-

propriate hamper items

locally.

TOWN OF ASQUITHAsquith's new and returning Town

Council members took an Oath of Office

at the November 6 regular Council meet-

ing.

The lagoon's tertiary cell was discharged

for the fall and testing was done on the

monitoring wells around the lagoon.

The Asquith Fire Department received

the Jaws of Life and has been training.

Stop signs and a dead end signs were in-

stalled on Lunn Street. The lots are

ready for sale. Check the Town's website

www.townofasquith.com to find out more

about tax incentives for new lot sales.

The white metal at the Asquith Landfill

has been recycled. The Town of Asquith

welcomes new Landfill Supervisor, Louis

Gelinas. Residents are reminded that the

Asquith Landfill will be closed on winter

days if the wind chill is -40 C or more.

The Asquith Community Rink Board

held its first meeting on October 30. The

rink fees and ice rental fees have been set

for 2012/2013, remaining the same as

2011/2012. The resignation of Rink Board

members Tiffany Bertrand and Orchid

Rode were accepted and Jodi Nehring

and Cory Rousell were appointed. A

building permit for the construction of a

shed was issued.

It was resolved that there will be no

hunting allowed on the town-owned land,

specifically the lagoon and landfill land.

The property will be posted as such.

Committees of Council were set as fol-

lows: Utilities - Ross Beal, Garry Du-

mont, Karen Gamble, Don Lysyshyn;

Fire Department - Karen Gamble;

Streets and Town Property - Garry Du-

mont, Karen Gamble, Ross Beal, Sue

Sawicki; Finance - Gail Erhart, Don

Lysyshyn; Waste Disposal - Ross Beal,

tive - Sue Sawicki.

Councillor Gail Erhart will serve as

Deputy-Mayor from Nov/12 to Jan/14.

A reminder to all residents that no snow

removed from private property is to be

placed on any street, sidewalk or lane.

The Town asks that those individuals

who have vehicles of any type parked so

as to impede the removal of snow on the

streets, move them. Public Works em-

ployees have the authority to give 24

hours notice to individuals whose vehi-

cles, as defined in The Highways and

Transportation Act, 1997, are impeding

the removal of snow. Failure to remove

said vehicles after the 24 hours have

passed will result in the vehicles being

removed at the owners'/occupants' ex-

pense.

R.M. OF VANSCOYCouncil approved ten applications for de-

velopment and building permits at their

November 8th meeting. Two applications

to subdivide were approved.

With the recent snowfall, Council re-

minds ratepayers not to push snow

across the road to the opposite ditch. This

could create an accident because of

blocked visibility. When the snow gets

hard it can do damage to the graders as

well as a vehicle hitting the snow if the

vehicle should leave the road. If the R.M.

has to remove the snow, individuals re-

sponsible will be billed for all expenses

incurred.

All outstanding amounts for fire calls and

custom work performed during the year

are due by December 31st. Any outstand-

ing amounts will be added to the taxes at

year end. Please contact the municipal of-

fice if you have any questions.

Remember to discuss volunteer firefight-

ing costs with your insurance agent.

There is a minimum 3 hour charge of

$1500. False alarms are $750.

The R.M. office will be closed from De-

cember 24th to December 28th. Post-

dated cheques can be mailed in or

dropped off. On-line tax payments can

also be made. There is a mailbox outside

the office as well. The office will be open

on Monday, December 31st from 9:00 am

to 3:00 pm.

On behalf of the Council and staff of the

R.M. of Vanscoy, best wishes for a safe

and happy holiday season.

ing buyers and sellers.

For example, scammers

may sell a product -

often at a very cheap

price - just so they can

steal your payment

card or personal infor-

mation. They may also

take your money and

send you a worthless

item, or sometimes,

nothing at all.

On-line auction sites

are virtual flea mar-

kets that present new

or used items for sale

that you can bid on.

On-line auction scams

include such frauds as

the misrepresentation

of an item, non-delivery

of goods and services,

as well as non-payment

for goods delivered.

On-line auctions can be

rigged by scammers. If

you are selling a prod-

uct, the scammer can

enter a low bid followed

by a very high bid

under another name.

Just before the auction

closes, the scammer

withdraws the high bid

and the low bid wins. If

you are buying a prod-

uct, the scammer can

boost the price using

dummy bidders.

What to do if you are a

victim of on-line shop-

ping fraud:

Step 1 - Contact the

police service of juris-

diction in your area.

Step 2 - Report the

fraud to the Canadian

Anti-Fraud Centre by

going to their website

or by calling 1-888-495-

8501.

Step 3 - You should

also report the crime to

the on-line shopping

website you dealt with.

With Christmas shop-

ping well underway,

please remember the

following tips if you

plan on purchasing

gifts online:

Deal with companies

or individuals that you

know by reputation or

experience.

Look for a privacy pol-

icy. Be sure you are

comfortable with how

the company collects,

protects and uses your

personal information

before you submit any

details.

Do not pay by sending

cash, money transfers

or money orders.

Shop only from your

home computer. It's

much safer than shop-

ping at a terminal in

an internet café or li-

brary.

If you plan to buy

something, go directly

to a store's website by

manually typing its ad-

dress into your web

browser. Don't click on

links in an e-mail mes-

sage even if you know

who sent it.

Verify secure connec-

tions. When shopping

on-line, do not enter

any financial informa-

tion on a site if you see

a broken key or an

open padlock symbol in

your Internet browser.

This means the trans-

action is not secure and

could be intercepted by

a third party.

Consider using a credit

card with a low credit

limit or a single use

payment card.

Monitor your bank

and credit card state-

ments on-line. Elec-

tronic statements allow

you to review your pur-

chases and payments

as they happen rather

than waiting until the

end of the month to re-

view your paper state-

ment.

Never give out your

social insurance num-

ber, date of birth or dri-

ver's license number to

a seller.

Before you bid, learn

as much as you can

about how the on-line

auction works, your ob-

ligations as a buyer,

and the seller's obliga-

tions.

Always remember, if

an offer sounds suspi-

cious or too good to be

true, it probably is.

Happy holidays and

safe online shopping!

May all that’s bright and beautifulwhen the holidays are here Surround you and stay with youevery day throughout the year.

Season’s Greetings from the StaffAt the RBC Blairmore Branch

Organized by the

Saskatoon Nature

Society and the

last of the Christmas

counts, volunteers will

again visit acreages in the

Pike Lake area to conduct

the annual Christmas

Bird Count. I would like

to thank landowners who

have welcomed us on pre-

vious counts and we look

forward to our brief visit

on Saturday, January 5,

2013.

We usually spend only a

few minutes at each site.

This provides a

snapshot of bird

trends and num-

bers. Data is sub-

mitted to Bird

Studies Canada

(BSC) a national

non-profit organiza-

tion, whose mission

is to advance the

understanding, ap-

preciation and con-

servation of wild

birds and their

habits. It is affili-

ated with the

Audubon Society

and Cornell Uni-

versity. For more

information please

sults are published in Na-

ture Saskatchewan’s ‘Blue

Large-scale public partici-

pation in Bird Studies

Canada programs is es-

sential. Scientists and

volunteers work together,

gathering data. That is

where the Saskatoon Na-

ture Society comes in. The

Saskatoon Nature Soci-

ety, a charitable organiza-

tion founded in 1955,

brings together those in-

terested in the natural

world. Our objective is to

promote the appreciation

of nature and encourage a

deeper knowledge of it

through observation and

sharing of experience.

Monthly meetings are

held from September to

April with talks, films and

slide presentations on top-

ics related to nature.

Three or more guided

field trips are held each

month in spring, summer

and fall with occasional

trips in winter, providing

opportunities to observe

birds, mammals, insects

and plants in the com-

The First Annual

Vanscoy Quad

Rally on October

13th was a spectacular

success.

87 machines were reg-

istered, including a

group who drove their

quads all the way from

Perdue to take part.

The weather also coop-

erated with the day's

high reaching nearly 12

C.

"We're thrilled with the

turnout and all the

feedback we've been re-

ceiving is incredibly

positive," said Robb

McGill, one of the

event's organizers.

"We've learned a lot as

well, and next year's

ride is going to be even

bigger and better!"

Riders were treated to

free hot dogs and juice

at the midpoint of the

ride, and the Rider

game was being shown

in the beer gardens

thanks to the use of a

donated tv projector

and big screen.

More than 50 people

stuck around for the

evening fish fry, as

well.

The dedicated group of

volunteers working to

raise money to install

an artificial ice plant in

the Vanscoy arena - af-

fectionately known as

"The ShiverDome" - is

continuing to make

progress toward their

goal.

So far the group has

raised more than

$50,000 toward the es-

timated $400,000 cost

of the project.

The Village of Vanscoy

has committed $50,000

while the Community

Players have donated

$1,000 of their annual

dinner theatre profits

to the cause. Another

$2,500 was obtained

through a provincial

rink improvement

grant.

You can follow the

progress of the Shiver-

Dome project, or even

The classic Christ-

mas movie “Mir-

acle on 34th

Street”, tells the story

of a New York court

case in which Santa

Clauses’ existence was

legally challenged.

Santa won the case

when bag after bag of

mail addressed to

Santa via the North

Pole was presented as

evidence of his tangible

presence and the fact

that millions of believ-

ing children can’t be

wrong. Mankind’s na-

ture demands proof for

most things and unfor-

tunately the world

doesn’t always provide

such easy explanations.

This is where faith

comes in whether it is

faith in God or Santa

Clause or in justice or

in anything else which

helps man cope with

the bigger issues in life.

In my work as a veteri-

narian my faith in the

goodness of mankind

even in the most de-

plorable conditions and

my faith that justice

will prevail have been

reaffirmed time and

time again.

20th Street in Saska-

toon runs through some

good and some bad

neighborhoods and the

house I was called to in

early December was

definitely in a bad area.

The house was a corner

lot and as I parked my

truck on the side street

a pit-bull type dog

lunged against the

rusty chain-linked

fence at me. His rabid

liked canines gleamed

as he chomped the

fence and tried to get at

me. Behind him and

tied to a tree was a

large dog which had

lost most of his hair

and was curled into a

tight ball and shivered

against the cold. I fig-

ured this was the sick

dog I was to look at and

proceeded to the door

where my knock was

answered with a gruff

come in. I entered the

house eager to get out

of the December chill

and stepped into the

living room. The house

was almost as cold as it

was outside and

whereby my house by

now had been gaily dec-

orated for Christmas

this house was devoid

of any evidence of holi-

day spirit. The stark

contrast to my comfort-

able home hit me as I

surveyed the dingy

three room main floor

where sprawled on the

single decrepit couch

and on blankets on the

floor were four young

men. Two sported red

bandanas and two had

black toques pulled

down over ears and

eyebrows. “I’m the vet”

I squeaked, suddenly

becoming very uncom-

fortable inside what

was obviously a gang

house. “Someone called

about a sick dog”, I

added. “That was

mom”, a taller teenager

on the couch slowly

sneered, “but she’s not

here, the dog’s in the

back I think she wants

to find out why it

stinks so much and lost

all its hair.” He then

stood up and lead me

through the sparse

kitchen and out the

back door. He grabbed

the bounding pit-bull

by the collar as it

climbed the steps to us

and pointing at the

huddled dog by the tree

said “There he is. His

name is Duke. He won’t

hurt you”. I am always

wary approaching large

unknown dogs for the

first time and double so

as the pit-bull growled

behind me as I ap-

proached Duke. Duke

looked painfully up at

me as I kneeled beside

him and patted his

flank. A half wag of

the tail gave me the go

ahead for a closer ex-

amination. Duke was

in a lot of trouble.

Most of his hair was

gone and large crusty

lesions throughout his

body oozed a raw and

foul puss. His eyes

were blood shot and his

face was scabbed and

sore looking. Duke was

suffering from an ad-

vanced case of mange

with secondary skin in-

fection. Treatment at

that time was pro-

tracted and expensive

and required diligence

and compliance to get

any type of success.

Looking up at the

scowling young man on

the porch I thought to

myself that this was

not going to end well.

Just as I was going to

explain the gravity of

the situation the back

door opened and a mid-

dle aged lady stepped

out sending the boy

and the dog back into

the house. “You're the

vet I guess, what do

you think is wrong with

Duke,” she said with-

out introduction.

“Well looks like Duke

has got mange. I’ll

take some samples but

he’s going to need a lot

of treatment to get bet-

ter”, I answered. “O

jeez I figured it would

be expensive,” she an-

swered, “We don’t have

much and I haven’t’

told the boys yet but I

broke parole and now I

got to go back to jail.

Merry Christmas eh”.

“It is kind of expensive

to treat but you don’t

have to pay all at once

but there’s a lot to do,

baths and stuff like

that, will the boys do

that?” I queried. She

knelt by her dog and

with the hint of tears

welling in her pain

hardened eyes cradled

his head said; “Oh

they’ll do it alright.

There good boys just

this city drags them

down and they’ve got

nothing to do but drugs

and fight. They know

that this old dog means

the world to me.” Then

rising up and proceed-

ing to the house said,

“Well come on in and

tell the boys what to do

I gotta pack my stuff”.

The boys were ex-

tremely agitated when

their mother told them

she had to go back to

jail. They urged her to

go back to the country

and hide at her cousins

place, but in the end

they calmed down and

let their mother go to

her room and pack.

Then turning their at-

tention to me four sets

of dark hard eyes

glared at me until the

tallest, who must have

been the oldest boy,

asked, “Well what do

we have to do to get

mom’s dog better”. At

that time I remember

feeling that their ask-

ing me for help must

have been the hardest

thing to do. I repre-

sented a class and a

race that they must

have felt contributed to

their general condition

as well as directly to

their mother’s predica-

ment. Once again they

were in a disadvan-

taged position at the

mercy of me and how

they responded would

determine the fate of

Duke. I told the boys

that Duke would need

medicated shampoos

and ointments applied

regularly. He would

have to be given daily

antibiotics and I would

come every five days

with a powerful in-

jectable anti-mange

treatment. He would

have to be taken out of

the cold and kept warm

to avoid the chills and

pneumonia. Only with

diligent treatments did

Duke stand a chance of

recovery. The boys

never said much as I

told them I would be

back tomorrow with the

meds and further in-

structions.

With poor optimism I

returned the next day.

Only the pit bull re-

mained in the back

yard and I thought

maybe the boys had

looked after Duke per-

manently to avoid the

expense of treatment. I

was met with the same

gruff come in and was

surprised when this

time, along with the

four sprawled

teenagers in the living

room, was Duke. They

had dragged a kid’s

mattress into the living

room and Duke was

curled on it. The house

was still cold and as I

laid out the shampoos

and meds on the floor I

asked them if this

house had more heat.

“We don’t have heat

here the furnace

stopped working” the

oldest boy answered.

“Do you have warm

water to bath Duke in,”

I asked. “Yah we can

get that”, he answered.

I gave Duke his first

shot and after leaving

treatment instructions

left with the promise of

a return in five days.

My next visit Duke’s

condition had not im-

proved but I could see

that the boys were

doing everything they

could to help him.

They had rigged a

small electric space

heater by his mattress

to keep him warmer.

They had hauled water

heated on the stove to

shampoo him and they

had old blankets

wrapped around him to

keep him dry. I was

very surprised at the

compliance in the face

of such adversity these

boys had shown and

each week I went back

Duke looked better and

better. The last treat-

ment before Christmas

for Duke fell on the

23rd and he looked

great, his hair was

growing back soft and

rich and most of his

wounds had healed.

After I gave Duke his

shot the oldest boy got

off the couch and reach-

ing into his jeans took

out a handful of cash.

“Here’s eighty dollars

it’s all we have for now

but mom says she’ll

pay the rest when she

gets out.” The last

thing I wanted to do

was take that money

this close to Christmas

especially knowing

these boys didn’t have

much but the fierce

pride the boy showed

as he handed me the

money made me take it

and thank him. I

wished them all a

Merry Christmas and

asked them if their

Mom was going to be

home for Christmas.

“No she’s not out till

Boxing Day but then

we got a great present

for her”, the oldest boy

once again answered.

“What did you get her”,

I inquired. “We got

Duke back for her”, he

answered and for the

first time since I had

met him, smiled a

smile a mile wide and

full of hope and love.

A Christmas Eve Cookie delivery – Paige R.

As I walked down the bumpy stone path to the neighbour’s house on Christmas Eve I paused

to study the beauty of the winter scene. There was a path cleared all the way to the front door

and the trees were covered in a thin layer of soft snow and twinkling lights. The ever greens

were a deep forest green that contrasted strongly on the bright white snow. There was an old

worn wood sled leaned up against hibernating tree to the left of me and to the right the yard

was covered in snow. The sky above the trees was a pale blue as dusk began to fall. The air

smelled faintly of chestnuts being roasted and cookies being baked.

The snow crunched beneath my feet and the air felt cold against my cheeks. Just in front of the

living room window there was a small snow man. He had a dark grey top hat, a thick carrot

nose, a red and green plaid scarf and small black pebbles as his eyes and mouth. On his twig

arms perched a bold red Cardinal. I tried to walk slowly as I approached the house, hoping not

to scare the crimson bird.

Nervously I rang the door bell. Suddenly the green tin of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies

felt heavy. The navy door opened gradually revealing a little boy with blonde hair and brown

eyes. He had on snow man pyjamas and large yellow slippers shaped like bananas. Warm air

flooded from the house creating steam around the edges of the door.

The boy said hello and asked if I knew when Santa would be there. I told him Mr Claus would

arrive during the night once he was sound asleep in his warm bed. Then I handed him the

cookie tin. He said thank you and wished me a Merry Christmas before closing the door. It

made a slight creaking noise but it was drowned out by the excited child behind the door. The

wreath shook dangerously on the door. The ruby bow hung low and the tiny decorations

swayed from the movement of the door.

As I turned around and began to make my way home I noticed the sky was almost completely

dark and the stars were out, shining dazzlingly high in the night sky. I took a deep breath of

the freezing winter air, and then began to briskly walk home. Only the soft sound of singing

carollers could be heard above crunching snow. Before going into my house I took a leisurely

look around the street. The mixture of Christmas lights, the brilliant full moon, and the dim

blaze from fires gave the street a soft radiance.

Everything on the street including the bare trees and boot prints across the snow looked like a

scene from a Christmas card. It was a beautiful sight and I think even Santa would have to

stop to take a long look at this picturesque scene.

Christmas Eve by Megan K.

I pulled the fluffy red scarf closer to my

face as we were nearing the cabin. It was

Christmas Eve and I had to get things ready

for tomorrow. It was a bitterly cold day but

the sun was still shining and there was a

brilliant blue sky. It was mid afternoon

now. The sun would be setting soon. My

wife and two daughters were inside the lit-

tle house getting Christmas supper ready.

My job was to finish collecting the fire

wood and get a Christmas tree.

This was my last load of wood. I stopped

for a minute to catch my breath. I looked

around. Surrounding our house was a

bunch of giant poplar trees. They were

light grey to white in colour and had lots of

dark stripes or patches around them. Be-

hind our house was a large dense forest.

Mostly it was made up of pine trees. It was

the only green colour I could see with all

the snow around. Many of the prickly

branches were covered with a thin layer of

frost. In the distance I could glimpse some

smaller possibly younger poplar trees.

They were not as tall as the trees surround-

ing our house but still stood higher than the

pine trees.

I could hear my kids laughing in the house.

I stared at our house. It was undersized and

old looking. Most of the paint had peeled

off and the wood was mostly a grey colour.

After Christmas I will see if we can afford

the materials to fix up the house.

All around in the snow small birds were

looking for seeds. They were very petite

and had red over there backs, wings and

heads. I could hear them sing little tunes to

each other. Some of them flew up into the

branches of the trees and continued search-

ing for food.

As I turned around my horse slowly walked

up to me and nudged me with his nose. He

was still hitched up to the sleigh. He was a

chocolate palomino or also called a liver

chestnut. He had a long flowing mane and

tail. I thought he was beautiful. He was a

present from my father when I had gotten

married. Without him we would have a

very hard time putting food on the table.

I was time to go get the Christmas tree. I

promised I would get a really big one this

year. As we trudged back through the snow

I felt really lucky and grateful to have a

comfortable home and a loving family.

Christmas is the best time of the year.

The Christmas Kitty by Lauren R.

It’s Christmas Eve and people are everywhere they are last minute shopping and buying for

the sales. Me? Oh I’m sitting in my back alley looking up at all the people who walk by. Some

will stop and pet me or give me some food. Oh I guess I should tell you I am a stray kitten.

Last year on Christmas I spent it running away from a big mean bulldog! For Christmas this

year I asked Santa for a family but I don’t know if Santa gives presents to cats. I’m hoping

that if I wonder the streets tonight I will be able to catch Santa and maybe I can ask him in

person.

Its 12:30 pm and no sign of Santa! I’m starting to think maybe this Christmas isn’t going to be

my best one. I was just drifting off when I could see the bottom of someone’s boots.

“I hear you want a family for Christmas” a loud jolly voice said. I looked up and Santa was

standing in front of me with a bowl of warm milk, a cushion, and an address where the boy

who wants a kitten for Christmas lives! I so excited I couldn’t even make a noise. This had to

be a dream it was to good to be true!

When I got to my new home Santa put me in the little boys stocking. His name is Toby my

new boy’s name is Toby. Santa told me to go to sleep.

When I woke I woke to yelling and a wonderful voice of a little boy! When he saw me in his

stocking his face filled with so much joy! He made me a bowl of milk and he had gotten some

food from Santa too so I had a wonderful meal. My life was good and Toby named me Noel

and put a red ribbon around my neck.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

Winter Writing – Cody J.

As I stand on the concrete sidewalk, slick with ice I glance across

the road and see a cluster of kindergartens, probably on a field

trip. They slowly shuffle, stumble and walk along, holding onto

the yellow, nylon rope that their teacher was using to make sure

they didn’t wander off. One of the students had stopped to begin

to construct a snowman. The teacher, wearing an off-shade pink

fur coat, with a hat to match halted the group to scold the lone

student who was at least 10 feet away from the group.

Each of the students are dressed in colourful winter clothing. Red,

green, blue and pink seemed to be their favourite colours. Their

backdrop was a wall of white picket fences, shielding the dogs

behind them from escaping. The houses behind them, made of red

and brown bricks, looked like they had been there forever. In

front of them, a small cedar bush blanketed in snow along with

the lawn that once was a beautiful shade of green is now a stun-

ning white.

As I glance off to the side, I see a humongous oak tree, covered in

snow. It looked like it too has been there forever. It must have

been planted when the brick houses were built. A pigeon is perch-

ing on the top branch, trying to keep warm. Some of the kinder-

gartens intently gaze as they walk at the pigeon. The teacher

reminds the students to continue walking along.

As the students continue to saunter down the walk, they start to

sing a tune. “Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way…” They

then begin to happily skip along to the tune. As they skip out of

sight around the corner I slowly begin to walk back to my house

and crack open the creaky wood door and enter the house.

Corner

My house – by Summor P.

I looked down the hill at my house, smoke rose quickly from both chimneys going into the sky evaporating as it got higher and

higher. In the air above our house, a few birds flew; it was too hard to tell what kind of birds, their wings catching just the right air

to make it look like they’re floating. Snow covered our roof like a blanket, some icicles hung down, catching the light just right to

make them sparkle.

I looked at the ground, bushes and rocks were also covered by the sparkling snow, my two dogs were running around with a red

ball, they seemed to love the snow even more than I do, they rolled into the snow many times, covering their face with the cold

fluff like stuff. Sitting on the ledge of my house was out cat, he looked at the snow as if it were going to bury him forever if he

tried to jump, so he stayed on the rail watching the birds fly all around him, I bet he wishes it were summer.

I hear a church bell ring, I look to the old church house behind out house, people were walking out, I could hear the slight crunch

of snow as I shifted my weight to the other boot. Suddenly it started snowing, the birds chirped and few away trying to look for a

place to hide. I could hear my dogs bark in the distance and my house door open and close, probably mom letting the cat in.

As the snowflakes fell I took off my mitt, and caught two snowflakes, each with its own distinct features. The wind picked up a bit

and I felt a gush of air pass by me, The snow was coating my jacket and my hands, it felt cold, but melted quickly. I put my hand

into the snow it was very cold, but still it melted quickly.

I looked back up at our nicely decorated trees, the lights were bright and shimmering, I wondered if Santa could see them when he

brings us him presents. When I looked into the distance I saw the mountains, and below a lot of trees. Some of the trees with no

leaves, had little snow on each branch, each time the wind picked up snow would blow off the tree, as I watched it fall down, it

seemed to all but dance in the wind, in a line of flakes, like they were playing follow the leader to the ground.

I started walking down the path, going to my house; it was getting darker out now. When I reached my house it was very dark the

only thing visible was the tree lights and some lights from my town, the dogs and cat had already gone inside. Before I went inside,

I stopped and listened, I heard the church bell ring again, it seemed to play the chime of a well known Christmas song, letting

everyone know it was Christmas eve.

7:00 am december 25th morning – by Sam d.

Johnny runs down the stairs in a flash, sees the fire burning, stock-

ings stacked to the top with candies and small goodies. Anything

you can want stuffed into a stocking, lit up candles on the top of the

fire place, wreaths, old family photos, comfy pyjamas.

Warm as if you had no other responsibility but to be there. Antici-

pation on opening the gifts, shaking hastily like you want to see

what’s in them so bad you might die. All you want to do is dive un-

derneath that tree and open those gifts, see what’s in them, and stop

the anticipation.

You want to wake up your parents so badly it’s like lightning shoot-

ing into your soul, deep into your soul. Bits and crumbs left on the

plate half cup of milk , the excitement jolting through your body

knowing he came to your house and ate your cookies and milk that

you left him. The warm milky color of living room, soft beige fire

place, flashing lights on the Christmas tree, everything perfectly

placed on the tree, as if it was destined to be there and never to

move. Presents under the tree very beautifully wrapped as if it were

a professional who wrapped them. Nice big golden star on the top

of the tree so perfectly placed there if it was gone you’d think the

room would fall to pieces.

Plush red carpet as if you were in Hollywood back in the 50’s when

Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley were big, flashing camera’s

sounds of clicking at night, beautiful classic old jazz music, pearls,

rock and roll ages. The morning of Christmas is always the best

morning of life, always comfortable and welcoming, as if meant to

be there. I love Christmas. I feel as if wherever you are, you are in

the right place.

do you Hear What i Hear?Said the night wind to the little lamb,

do you see what I see

Way up in the sky, little lamb,

do you see what I see

A star, a star, dancing in the night

With a tail as big as a kite

With a tail as big as a kite

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy,

do you hear what I hear

Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy,

do you hear what I hear

A song, a song, high above the trees

With a voice as big as the sea

With a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty

king,

do you know what I know

In your palace warm, mighty king,

do you know what I know

A Child, a Child shivers in the cold

Let us bring Him silver and gold

Let us bring Him silver and gold

Said the king to the people everywhere,

listen to what I say

Pray for peace, people everywhere!

listen to what I say

The Child, the Child, sleeping in the

He will bring us goodness and light

He will bring us goodness and light

Chestnuts Roasting on an open FireChestnuts roasting on an open fire,

Jack Frost nipping on your nose,

Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,

And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,

Help to make the season bright.

Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,

Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa's on his way;

He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his

sleigh.

And every mother's child is going to spy,

To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase,

To kids from one to ninety-two,

Although its been said many times, many ways,

A very Merry Christmas to you

Winter WonderlandSleigh bells ring, are you listening,

In the lane, snow is glistening

A beautiful sight,

We're happy tonight.

Walking in a winter wonderland.

Gone away is the bluebird,

Here to stay is a new bird

He sings a love song,

As we go along,

Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,

Then pretend that he is Parson Brown

He'll say: Are you married?

We'll say: No man,

But you can do the job

When you're in town.

Later on, we'll conspire,

As we dream by the fire

To face unafraid,

The plans that we've made,

Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,

And pretend that he's a circus clown

We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman,

Until the other kids knock him down.

When it snows, ain't it thrilling,

Though your nose gets a chilling

We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,

Walking in a winter wonderland.

Santa Claus is

Coming To TownYou better watch out

You better not cry

Better not pout

I’m telling you why

Santa Claus is coming to town

He’s making a list,

And checking it twice;

Gonna find out who’s naughty and nice.

Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you’re sleeping

He knows when you’re awake

He knows if you’ve been bad or good

So be good for goodness sake!

O! You better watch out!

You better not cry.

Better not pout, I’m telling you why.

Santa Claus is coming to town.

Santa Claus is coming to town.

Frosty the SnowmanFrosty the snowman

Was a jolly happy soul,

With a corn cob pipe and a button nose

And two eyes made out of coal;

Frosty the snowman, is a fairy tale they say,

He was made of snow but the children know

How he came to life one day.

There must have been some magic

In that old silk hat they found

‘Cause when they put it on his head

He began to dance around

Oh, Frosty the snowman

Knew the sun was hot that day,

So he said, ‘Let’s run and we’ll have some fun

Now before I melt away!’

Down to the village, with a broomstick in his hand,

Running here and there all around the square,

Saying, ‘Catch me if you can!’

He led them down the streets of town

Right to the traffic cop,

And he only paused a moment

When he heard him holler ‘Stop!’

For Frosty the snowman had to hurry on his way.

But he waved goodbye, saying, ‘Don’t you cry

I’ll be back again same day!’

Silent nightSilent night, Holy night

All is calm, all is bright,

‘Round you virgin mother and

child

Holy infant so tender and mild.

Sleep in heavenly peace,

Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, Holy night

Shepherds quake, at the sight

Glories stream from heaven afar,

Heavenly hosts sing,”Alleluia!”

Christ the Savior is born

Christ the savior is born.

Silent night, Holy night

Son of God, love’s pure light

Radiant beams from Thy holy face

With the dawn of redeeming

grace,

Jesus Lord at Thy birth

Jesus Lord at Thy birth.

Most Wonderful Time

of the yearIt’s the most wonderful time of the year

With the kids jingle-belling

And ev’ryone telling you

Be of Good Cheer

It’s the most Wonderful time of the year

It’s the hap-happiest season of all

With those holiday greetings

And great happy meetings

When friends come to call

It’s the hap-happiest season of all

There’ll be parties for hosting

Marshmallows for roasting

And caroling out in the snow

There’ll be scary ghost stories

And tales of the glories

Of Christmases long, long ago

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

There’ll be much mistletoe-ing

And hearts will be glowing

When loved ones are near

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

gentle Mary Laid her ChildGentle Mary laid her child

lowly in a manger,

There he lay, the undefiled,

to the world a stranger.

Such a babe in such a place, can he be

the Saviour?

Ask the saved of all the race,

Who have found his favor

Angels sang about his birth,

wise ;men sought and found him;

heaven’s star shone brightly forth,

glory all around him.

Shepherds saw the wondrous sight,

heard the angels singing;

all the plains were lit that night,

all the hills were ringing.

Gentle Mary laid her child

lowly in a manger;

he is still the undefiled,

but no more a stranger.

Son of God of humble birth,

beautiful the story;

praise his name in all the earth;

hail the King of glory!

i Saw Mommy

Kissing Santa ClausI saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus

Underneath the mistletoe last night.

She didn’t see me creep

down the stairs to have a peep;

She thought that I was tucked

up in my bedroom fast asleep.

Then, I saw Mommy tickle Santa Claus

Underneath his beard so snowy white;

Oh, what a laugh it would have been

If Daddy had only seen

Mommy kissing Santa Claus last night.

Rudolph the

Red-nosed ReindeerYou know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer

and Vixen

Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen

But do you recall

The most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Had a very shiny nose

And if you ever saw it

You would even say it glows

All of the other reindeer

Used to laugh and call him names

They never let poor Rudolph

Join in any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas Eve

Santa came to say,

“Rudolph with your nose so bright

Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then how the reindeer loved him

As they shouted out with glee

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

You’ll go down in history!

o Holy nightO holy night!

The stars are brightly shining,

It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth.

Long lay the world

In sin and error pining

‘Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,

For yonder breaks a new and glorious

morn,

Fall on your knees!

O hear the angels voices!

O night, divine!

O night, when Christ was born,

O night, divine!

O night, O night divine!

White ChristmasI’m dreaming of a white Christmas

Just like the ones we used to know

Where the tree tops glisten

And children listen

To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas

With every Christmas card I write

May your days be merry and bright

And may all your Christmases be

white

All i Want For Christmas

is My Two Front TeethEvery body stops

and stares at me

These two teeth are

gone as you can see

I don’t know just who

to blame for this catastrophe!

But my one wish on Christmas Eve

is as plain as it can be!

All I want for Christmas

is my two front teeth,

my two front teeth,

see my two front teeth!

Gee, if I could only

have my two front teeth,

then I could with you

“Merry Christmas.”

It seems so long since I could say,

“Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!”

Gosh oh gee, how happy I’d be,

if I could only whistle (thhhh)

All I want for Christmas

is my two front teeth,

my two front teeth,

see my two front teeth.

Gee, if I could only

have my two front teeth,

then I could wish you

“Merry Christmas!”

Songs of the Season

Away in a MangerAway in a manger, no crib for a bed,

The little Lord Jesus laid down His

sweet head.

The stars in the sky looked down where

He lay,

The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes,

But little Lord Jesus, no crying He

makes.

I love Thee, Lord Jesus; look down from

the sky,

And stay by my cradle till morning is

nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask you to stay

close by me forever, and love me, I pray.

Bless all the dear children in your tender

care,

and fit us for heaven, to live with you

there.

Angels We Have

Heard on HighAngels we have heard on high,

Sweetly singing o’er the plains:

And the mountains in reply

echoing their joyous strains.

Refrain

Glo-ria in excelsis D-eo,

Glo-ria, in excelsis D-eo.

Shepherds, why this jubilee?

Why you joyous songs prolong?

What the gladsome tidings be

Which inspire your heav’nly song?

Refrain

Come to Bethlehem, and see

Him whose birth the angels sing;

Come, adore on bended knee,

Christ, the Lord, our new-born King.

Refrain

Let it SnowOh, the weather outside is frightful

But the fire is so delightful

and since we’ve no place to go,

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

We finally kiss goodnight

How I hate going out in the storm

But if you’d really hold me tight,

all the way home I’d be warm

the fire is slowly dying,

And my dear, we’re still goodbyeing

But as long as you love me so,

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

White ChristmasI’m dreaming of a white Christmas

And children listen

And may all your Christmases be

o Little Town of Bethlehem

O little town of Bethlehem

How still we sell thee lie!

Above thy deep and dreamless sleep

The silent stars go by.

Yet in thy dark streets shineth

The everlasting Light

The hopes and fears of all the years

Are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary,

And gathered all above,

While mortals sleep, the angels keep

Their watch of wondering love.

O morning stars, together

Proclaim the holy birth!

And praises sing to God the King,

And peace to men on earth.

How silently, how silently,

the wondrous gift is giv’n!

So God imparts to human hearts

The blessings of His heav’n.

No ear may hear His coming,

But in this world of sin,

Where meek souls will receive Him

still,

The dear Christ enters in.

O holy Child of Bethlehem!

Descend to us, we pray;

Cast out our sin, and enter in,

Be born in us today.

We hear the Christmas angels

The great glad tidings tell;

O come to us, abide with us,

Our Lord Emmanuel!

Silver BellsCity sidewalks, busy sidewalks,

Dressed in holiday style,

In the air there’s a feeling of Christmas;

Children laughing, People passing,

Meeting smile after smile,

And on every street corner you hear:

Refrain

Silver Bells, silver bells,

It’s Christmas time in the city,

Ring-a-ling, hear them ring,

Soon it will be Christmas Day.

Strings of street lights, even stoplights

Blink a bright red and green,

As the shoppers rush home with their treasures,

Hear the snow crunch, see the kids bunch,

This is Santa’s big scene,

And above all the bustle you hear:

Refrain

Have yourself a Merry

Little ChristmasHave yourself a merry little Christ-

mas,

Let your heart be light,

From now on, our troubles will be

out of sight.

Have yourself a merry little Christ-

mas,

Make the Yuletide gay,

From now on, our troubles will be

miles away.

Here we are as in olden days,

Happy golden days of yore,

Faithful friends who are dear to us,

Gather near to us once more.

Through the years we all will be to-

gether,

If the Fates allow,

Hang a shining star upon the high-

est bough,

And have yourself a merry little

Christmas now.

Jingle BellsDashing through the snow

In a one horse open sleigh

O'er the fields we go

Laughing all the way

Bells on bob tails ring

Making spirits bright

What fun it is to laugh and sing

A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to ride

In a one horse open sleigh

Jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to ride

In a one horse open sleigh

A day or two ago

I thought I'd take a ride

And soon Miss Fanny Bright

Was seated by my side

The horse was lean and lank

Misfortune seemed his lot

We got into a drifted bank

And then we got upsot

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to ride

In a one horse open sleigh

Jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to ride

In a one horse open sleigh yeah

Jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to ride

In a one horse open sleigh

Jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to ride

In a one horse open sleigh

it Came upon a Midnight ClearIt came upon a midnight clear,

That glorious song of old,

From angels bending near the earth,

To touch their harps of gold

“Peace on the earth, good will to men

From heav’n’s all gracious King,”

The world in solemn stillness lay

To hear the angels sing.

Still thro’ the cloven skies they come,

With peaceful wings unfurled;

And still their heav’nly music floats

O’re all the weary world;

Above its sad and lowly plains

They bend on hov’ring wing,

And ever o’er its Babel sound

The blessed angels sing.

O ye beneath life’s crushing load,

Whose forms are bending low,

Who toil along the climbing way

With painful steps and slow;

Look now, for glad and golden hours

Come swiftly on the wing;

Oh rest beside the weary road

And hear the angels sing.

For lo! the days are hast’ning on,

By prophets seen of old,

When with the ever circling years

Shall come the time foretold,

When the new heav’n and earth shall own

The Prince of Peace their King,

And the whole world send back the son

Which now the angels sing.

I asked the Lord to help me,

And he showed me the say.

Go tell it on the mountain,

You can say there’s no such thing as Santa,

She’d been drinking too much eggnog,

and we begged her not to go.

But she forgot her medication, and she

staggered out the door into the snow.

When we found her Christmas

morning,

at the scene of the attack,

she had hoof-prints on her forehead,

and incriminating Claus marks on her

back.

Now we’re all so proud of grandpa,

He’s been taking this so well.

See him in there watching football,

drinking root beer and

playing cards with Cousin Mel.

It’s not Christmas without Grandma,

All the family's dressed in black

Should we open up her gifts,

or send them back?

Now the goose is on the table

My Christmas Miracle – Hailey H.

On December 24th the night before Christmas a miracle had happened. My town had

not had a snow fall since last winter and you know what they say, a white Christmas

is always good. Well that night it had happened finally, the first snow fall! I was so

excited I ran outside and jumped into the fresh powdery snow, making snow angels

in my pyjamas. It was one of the best feelings I’ve ever experienced. Wow, I couldn’t

believe that on Christmas Eve the first snowfall came. It was getting late and I knew

somewhere Santa was in the sky flying around just waiting for me to go to sleep. The

snow would wait for me until morning so off to bed I went. As raindrops danced in

my head I dreamed of the presents I would receive in the morning.

I wake up to the smell of pancakes and gingerbread, my presents under the

tree what a beautiful sight to see. I walk down the stairs, my parents there to greet me

with a Merry Christmas! I am so excited to open presents. I run to the tree and start

to squeal because I know this is going to be an awesome Christmas! After opening all

my gifts I thank my parents and then I run outside look up to the sky and thank

Santa, being outside reminds me that I need to play in the fresh snow, so I suit up in

my snow boots and ski pants with a warm jacket and toque and mitts I am ready to

have some fun. I walk out and I see trees covered in sparkly snow, birds singing

happy songs, the chimneys on everyone’s house puff with smoke, today was a gor-

geous day!

I play outside for the majority of the morning then my mother calls me in because we

are going to have lunch with my grandma and grandpa. As I put my Christmas

sweater on that my grandma gave me last Christmas I can almost smell the pine nee-

dles from last Christmas on it. We have lunch with grandma and grandpa then enjoy

the rest of our Christmas. My Christmas miracle was something simple but some-

thing that I am grateful for; I hope everyone had a nice Christmas.

Winter Thoughts – by James S.

It was a cold sunny January day of 2012. All bundled up with the tips of your fin-

gers and toes being a little bit cold. Tearing through the fresh powder snow on your

toboggan getting pulled by your roaring ski-doo. Hour after hour getting pulled over

the rock hard ice and the deep cold snow. Falling off getting a face full of frosty cold

snow and you can’t see anything. The only feeling was the sun on your frosted face.

Getting inside and trying to undress out of your soaking wet snow suit. Pouring a

cup of steaming hot chocolate. Wrapping your chilly hands around to trying to warm

them up. Taking a sip and burning your chapped lips. Wrapping up a cozy warm

blanket trying to warm up your cold body. Looking outside the frost covered win-

dow and seeing the blizzarding snow. Seeing the odd shaped overhang of snow on

the rooftops. The freshly drove over ski-doo tracks all over the yard. Glaring ice

from the bright warm sun.

Getting dressed in new warm clothes bundling up for round two. Starting up

the ski-doo by pulling the frozen handle giving it all you got. It starting up and

idling until you start driving. Spinning the track and spraying snow out the back of

the powerful ski-doo. Leaving a track of tore away snow. Driving as fast as car ac-

celerating through a big drift exploding through it. Powdery snow flying up over the

windshield hitting your mask and making you blinded.

Stopping to fill up with gas, taking off your mittens to put in gas nozzle in and turn-

ing it on. Looking through the line of heat waves from the gas. Spinning the cap

back on and getting ready to go. Pulling the ski-doo slowly up to the shop and park-

ing it waiting for another fun day.

Winter Scene – Braylee u.

Struggling to fall asleep I stay up and lay there on

the couch anxious for the special day to come.

From the corner of my little ears I hear beeping

noises not quite knowing what it is yet. I jump out

of my comfy bed and sprint to the apartment win-

dow there right in front on my glimmering eyes is

the day I have been waiting for. December, 25th

my favourite holiday of the year. Kids jumping

around with joy involved in the holiday spirit.

A horse and carriage fly by on the icy streets,

Christmas lights are on and Christmas carollers are

out and singing so loud I can hear their happy

voices from my apartment. The bright green

wreaths hanging on the slamming doors catch my

eyes, each and every person, adults, little kids, big

and small skating on the flooded ice twirling and

dancing. The sparkly snow so bright I can barely

bare to look at it. Fluffy powder fills the streets and

snowmen are being made by all the little ones bun-

dled up in there poofy ski pants and jackets, their

toques so big you can barely see their little eyes,

their hands looking like they’re huge but it’s just

the mittens.

Dark and light pine trees are being decorated

last minute, and snow fills the others. Brick bridges

are carefully approached because of the icy condi-

tions. To my right I see people around the ages of

four to ten having an intense snowball fight, throw-

ing and bundling up all the snow they can find.

Chimneys are running full speed and huffing out

smoke black smoke. This Christmas was the best

Christmas yet and it’s now coming to and end, I go

inside for some hot chocolate and do it all over

again.

Waiting patiently

To open my little gold present.

I looked at the gold box

With eyes like a hawk’s

I’ve been really good

So there I stood

Praying that it isn’t socks.

The hockey story by Zach S.

I always get excited when winter comes. There are big puffy flakes that gently fall on the

houses and on the ground. There are people all over the streets and Christmas holiday music

playing. The most thing that I get excited for when winter comes is hockey. It is my

favourite sport and it also my family’s to. It has been in our family ever since my great great

grandpa played it.

Tomorrow me and my family are going to help out with the indoor rink. We have put snow

on the ground and put water on it and do that about seven times so the ice can be thick and

strong. I was planning to spray paint the ice so that there will be a red and two blue lines.

Also paint the goalies crease and two circles at one end one in the middle and two at the

other end of the ice. I thought, this is going to be a good plan.

The next morning me and my family went to the town rink. When we got there we saw a

whole bunch of people outside of the rink. We got out of our car and went up to them. They

all looked mad. One guy said “there is not going to be a rink this year because there is a car

that smashed into the side of the rink and it is going to take the rest of the winter to fix it.”

We questioned “How did it smash into the rink?” He responded “It was really icy in one

spot in the parking lot.” One guy came out of the rink and said, “We have to close the rink

this year because of the wreck.” He sent told everyone to go home until further notice.

We got home and we were all upset about there being no rink. Then I thought of an idea. It

was to build an outdoor rink. I told my parents about it and they thought that it was a great

idea. They said that we should start it tonight and phone some people about it. They thought

that it was a great idea and they said “be there tomorrow at the park.”

The next day we met at the park and there was more there than we expected. We started

by putting snow and water on the spot that we wanted it. We did that seven times. The rink

was nearly finished. We put planks around the rink for boards and put nets in it. We were

done by the end of the day. One person said “See everyone tomorrow and bring sticks,

skates and a helmet.”

The next day everyone met back at the rink and we played a game of hockey. I said “This

could be our rink for the year everyone.” Everyone agreed.” From there on that was our rink

and everyone was happy.

“Christmas Sleep” by Heather K.

Children laying in bed

Her soft mind waits for Christmas Day

Ring bells she waits for

Inside her bed, oh so warm

She waits for Santa to come

The night grows longer

Music bells are heard through the sky

A sound from the chimney is heard

Santa has arrived.

Santa watches you sleep

Lays the presents under the tree

Elegantly wrapped present waiting

Everywhere people are waiting for presents and

Presents wait for the children to come.

“on a Crisp december Morning”

by delanie M.

On a crisp December morning,

The smoke from a chimney in the woods,

Canadian geese landing in a pond,

The trees and grass in the lake all covered in frost,

Calling of geese to one another,

The trees towering a small log cabin by the lake,

On a crisp December morning.

Winter Writing – by Tara C.

“I’m going for a walk in the snow” I shouted to my

mom. As I stepped out into the cool winter air, I could

smell the fresh scent of pine trees. I looked up at the sky

and saw snowflakes falling from the dark winter sky. As

I walked down my driveway, I saw a deer staring at me

from the bushes. It gazed upon me for a couple of sec-

onds before it dashed away into the safety of the nearby

trees.

As I reached the end of my driveway, I watched a

rabbit scurry across the road. I heard a rustling in the

bushes behind me. I turned around to see an owl flying

away into the night sky. The moon was full the sun had

set and now the moon was lighting up the night sky.

I looked at my watch, it was getting late. As I

turned around I saw a skunk run under my neighbours

shed. It turned around and looked me directly in the eye,

before disappearing out of sight. It was getting really

late, as I finally reached the end of my driveway. I could

see the lights on in the windows. I could hear the trees

rustling in the wind. I couldn’t feel my toes anymore.

The snow was starting to turn into a blizzard as I opened

the door. A huge gust of warm air welcomed me home.

Staff of the

Vanscoy and Dis-

trict Early Learn-

ing Center had the

opportunity to travel to

Vancouver, BC to at-

tend a conference to

study the Reggio

Emilia Approach to

Early Childhood Edu-

cation.

The speakers were di-

rectly from the town of

Reggio Emilia, Italy.

Along with the confer-

ence there was a trav-

elling exhibit called

The Wonder of Learn-

ing, which recounts ex-

perience from

infant-toddler centers,

preschools and primary

schools in the city of

Reggio Emilia. This ap-

proach has become the

focus of many Early

childhood programs

around the world.

Speakers at the confer-

ence included Profes-

sors and Instructors

from Toronto, Victoria,

New Brunswick, Cal-

gary, Powel River,

Kamloops, Winnipeg,

Saskatoon, London,

New Zealand, and Aus-

tralia.

The Guide for the Ex-

hibit explains The Reg-

gio Emilia Approach:

The philosophy arose

out of the devastation

of post World War II

Italy, where educator

Loris Malaguzzi and a

group of parents began

a school which would

promote the ideas of

tolerance and respect.

It places strong empha-

sis on materials and

the classroom environ-

ment. What can chil-

dren teach us, and how

can we see their contri-

butions to the world as

not only beautiful but

vital, something to be

valued and protected.

The exhibit shows chil-

dren doing simple

things, discussing the

day’s activities in a

group, testing out vari-

ous types of shoes to

see what sounds they

make, dancing with

flowing tubes, using

clay to create animals

and sand buildings.

When early childhood

education is based on

teacher, family and

community relation-

ships, when it is gov-

ernment funded and

supported by legisla-

tion, there is a genuine

commitment to young

children and the fu-

ture.

Welcome to another month, it seems like winter has arrived! We held our

Remembrance Day Service, which again was wonderful. The poppy sales

were a success as we raised lots of money for the Delisle Legion. Also a huge

thank you to the people who donated canned goods for the Food Drive. Inter-

national Club has started up once again and they are currently learning

about Australia. The basketball season is now in full swing with practices

and games. We are looking forward to a great season and good luck to the

boys and girls teams. We also have our Glee Club group going on their tour

on December 19th. With Christmas fast approaching we have a few annual

events taking place. Our Secret Santa Shopping will take place on Decem-

ber 7th. Also with much anticipation students will be starting to prepare for

our Christmas Concert, which is to be held on December 18th. We are look-

ing forward to another great month as we approach the Christmas holidays.

VANSCOY

We are off to a great start at Delisle Elementary. So far there have been lots

of exciting things going on at our school. We went on a Terry Fox run. In Oc-

tober, Gr.6’s were supposed to go to Shikenah but it was too cold. There has

also been singing with Sylvia and many people enjoyed it. In October there

was hot meal and crazy day. We had grilled cheese or grilled cheese and

ham. The school had soccer interhouse for grades, 4,5 and 6 and impact won

the final game. Report cards went out on Nov. 18 and parent teacher inter-

views were Nov. 21 & 22.

SCHOOL NEWSAs November wraps up, it marks the end of the first term and the beginning

of the second, and with that the change in many events and activities as

well. Report cards were issued on November 8 with evening interviews held

on November 15. Many parents received information on signing into Power-

School, the program that allows you to view your child's attendance, as well

as overall marks and marks for all individual assignments. If you need as-

sistance in logging in, please contact the school. The school is now fully

wireless. If you need help connecting, there are instructions at

http://www.spiritsd.ca/webservices/.

Mrs. Yuzik and the library club had a successful Scholastic Book Fair.

There were contests everyday, and an excellent selection of books and other

things to buy. With the money raised from the bookfair, the library can pur-

chase new books from Scholastic.

DCS arts groups and the DES grade 4 class put on a successful concert at

the Delisle Legion Tea on November 7. There were performances in singing,

handbells, and drama, for an evening of entertainment. On November 8,

both schools came together for a beautiful Remembrance service. Thanks to

everyone involved in organizing both events.

The Prairie Spirit West Band concert is scheduled for Wednesday, Decem-

ber 5 at Asquith. It begins at 7pm, and all bands, beginner, junior, senior,

and jazz will be performing. On December 12, the DCS Coffee House per-

formers have partnered up with the Peru Service Trip travel club. There

will be a Greek Rib meal before the concert. Tickets are available from stu-

dents or by calling the school and asking for Mrs. Pepper-Martens. Tickets

are $20. Supper starts at 6pm and show at 7pm. Watch posters for more in-

formation. The Peru Service Club is a new DCS student group. They are

travelling to Peru over Easter to experience the many cultural aspects of the

country while spending time working in a school to better the facility, teach

English, and provide hot breakfasts for the students. A portion of your ticket

price will go towards helping them get there.

In terms of sports, the senior girls volleyball team's season wrapped up at

the Regional level. The girls placed third overall, losing the Macklin 25-23

and 26-24. Close and hard fought matches! Macklin placed first and ad-

vanced to Provincials. Great work to the girls and Mrs. Kooy on a successful

season. The Rebels football team finished the regular season undefeated, at

6-0, for the third season in a row - scoring 298 points for and only allowing

45 points against. They won the first two playoff games at home vs. Meadow

Lake and then Melville, before losing to the eventual provincial champions

from Melfort in the provincial semi-final. Finally, basketball teams at all

levels have started up, with the junior girls winning their first game vs.

Osler, 38-22. Coaches Mr. Jeffries, Ms. Kindrachuk. Players: Natalie,

Kathy, Camryn, Chloe, kristy, paige, Shelby, Sydney, hailey, Lauren, Jil-

lian, Bailey. Cassidy on stats and Kabrina as scorekeeper.

The Peru Service Trip group will be coming to Vanscoy, Delisle, and Pike

Lake during the week of Nov. 25 to pick up donations of bottles for their bot-

tle drive. They would greatly appreciate any donations and would be willing

to come early and pick up what you have. If you would like someone to

swing by your home before Nov. 25, please call one of the three following

numbers to arrange pick up: 493-8267, 493-8158, or 493-2397.

Congratulations to October's Rebels of the Month. Senior- Amee T, chosen

for her outstanding finish in cross country . She won our division meet and

then went on to Regional and Provincials! Amee always gives 100% . She is

kind ,courteous and a hard worker. Junior - Sierra M, new to DCS in grade

7. She has made a great impression to all. She is friendly, pleasant, and al-

ways willing to help her fellow students. Sierra played junior volleyball and

she always participates in school spirit days. Keep up the great work Sierra.

And finally, group Rebel of the Month is the Cross Country Provincial

Team. We congratulate Amee ,Amy R, Jordyn C, and Sonja K. These young

ladies represented Delisle Comp at provincial cross country and we are ex-

tremely proud of their determination, desire and wish to succeed at running.

Keep up the great work.

By next report, we will be heading into January, the end of the semester,

and everything that comes with it! Best wishes for the holiday season from

everyone at DCS.

DELISLE COMPOSITE

December is nearing and the anticipation of the holiday season fills our

school creating excitement for all. Moreover with the snow we have just re-

ceived, it feels like the holiday season is just that much closer!

The Pike Lake School Community Council would like to extend a huge

thanks to all those in the school and community who supported our Mom’s

Pantry Fundraiser, proceeds of which will go towards the School’s 100 Year

Celebration in June of 2013. Our next fundraising effort for this exciting

event will take place at the Pike Lake Community School Association

Christmas Craft Sale. Proceeds from the sales of snacks, beverages, and

sweeties will be put towards the Centennial Celebration. We encourage

everyone to head out to support this wonderful local craft sale, and while

you’re there enjoy some delicious eats from the concession.

Students at Pike Lake School have been working hard through out the

month of November and they having been communicating their learning to

the community in a variety of ways. Our month started with an exciting au-

dition for Telemiracle. The students sang and performed sign language for

the song, “Wavin’ Flag,” written by Somali Canadian artist K’naan. We

should be hearing results as to whether we made it to be on the show or not

by the end of November.

Thank you to those who were able to attend the Remembrance Day Service.

The students again made us proud as they demonstrated their understand-

ing of what it means to remember those who gave their lives so that we may

enjoy freedom today. An extra special thank-you goes out to World War II

Veteran, Mr. Marvin Potter for his attendance again this year at our assem-

bly. The students were captivated as they listened to Mr. Potter’s experience

of war and his story of returning to Holland where he had served during the

war to receive an honorary citizenship from the Dutch Government.

Students are busy preparing for this year’s concert entitled, “The Grinch

Who Stole Christmas.” This years play highlights that the importance of to-

getherness. Indeed the resident Whos of Whoville are reminded that the

importance of Christmas rests not with “showy” presents but rather that

Christmas time is about spending time with those who you truly love and

care for. Please join us on Wednesday, December 19th at 11:00 a.m. or 7:00

p.m. as the students enact Dr. Seuss’ timeless Christmas Classic.

PIKE LAKE PRESCHOOLI’d like to start this month’s news with a thank you to Sherry and Wayne

Ledingham for the treat bags and toothbrushes they brought the students

for Halloween. They were very much appreciated! I would also like to ex-

tend a huge thank you to all who came out to support our Indoor Drive-in.

Everyone had a lot of fun and we raised a lot of money too! We plan on buy-

ing a camera and a few more toys with the money raised. Thank you also to

all the preschool parents who helped make this happen, from donating

items to the raffle baskets to working in the kitchen to cleaning up after-

wards. It would not have been such a success if it hadn’t been for all your

help. One more big thank you goes to Brian and Lyndsay Lee for offering

the use of their screen and everything that went along with it. We sure are

a lucky preschool to have such support from the community!

The 3 year olds spent November doing a variety of different things – using

chalk on black paper for black day, colouring 3 snakes for number 3 day,

and making pictures out of different shapes for shape day. We’ve also

started practicing our Christmas songs for the concert. The students have

finally started singing in class (most of them have been reluctant up until

now) so hearing them practice the Christmas songs has been wonderful!

The 4 year olds made a skunk for black day, learned how to print the num-

ber 3 and started a health theme. They saw “germs” on their hands, ate

foods from the food groups and spent a day exercising. We will keep going

with health, including dental health and learning about emotions. These

students have also started practicing their songs for the Christmas concert.

That brings us into December! I say this every year, but it’s hard to believe

December is already here. Both classes will learn about the number 4 and

the colour red. The 4 year olds will also talk about the first day of winter.

Both classes will celebrate Christmas at our party on the morning of Decem-

ber 21st. We will keep practicing our songs so we are ready to participate in

the Christmas Concert with Pike Lake School. The preschool will be at the

morning show only on Wednesday, December 19th. We hope to see you

there!

The Sandy Hills

Light Horse 4H

Club held its

Fourth Annual Hal-

loween Howl on Horse-

back on October 28 and

for the first time in

four years they had to

hold the event indoors.

A HUGE Thank you

goes out to Tom Walker

who donated the use of

his indoor riding arena

for the afternoon event,

as the temperatures

dipped sharply, with

wind and snow it would

have been a cancella-

tion otherwise. All nine

members plus lots of

family got involved in

the fun of the day with

excellent costumes,

games and treats!

The day kicked off with

the very popular Musi-

cal Stalls. There was a

few versions of this

game played with

horses being limited to

walking, trotting or

loping to some very

special spooky music

(thanks to Paul

Yanko). In the end

there was a round of

musical stalls held

without horses so

everyone could play.

The competition was

fierce, with stealthy

moves to beat others to

a safe stall. A few

minor collisions but no

mishaps. It seems one

rider, Keela Corey, got

to eat a few more

prizes (chocolates) than

others. Probably the fa-

vorite game of the day

though is the exciting

and satisfying donut

race. Members were as-

signed their teams and

the donuts were hung

in anticipation of being

eaten. Each team

would send a competi-

tor to race from the far

end of the arena to the

waiting donuts hung

by a string, they would

have to eat more than

half with no hands al-

lowed. This was fun to

play and fun to watch!

Members were given

time to get their cos-

tumes on for the cos-

tume parade. This year

we had a pink poodle, a

sheriff and its inmate,

an elf and her reindeer,

a scary vampire and a

beautiful green fairy.

There was also a sleepy

rider in her pajamas

with her comfy horse

bed and Dark Death

with wicked wings on a

Black horse. In the at-

tached picture Keela

Corey is a beautiful

bride riding on her

handsome groom.

Thanks to Tanner

Gardner, Liam Yanko

and David Patenaude

who donned the Hal-

lowed Hats of Hon-

ourable Judges and

placed the members in

three categories of cos-

tumes. Everyone was a

winner on this day and

all are to be congratu-

lated for their hard

work.

Following the costume

parade members had a

real treat as two goats

were brought in to the

arena for a new game

of "Goat Dressing".

Each Goat was tied to a

long rope held by a

strong helper. Each

team was given a shirt

which they would then

run to their goat, grab

the rope, catch the

goat, try to hold it and

put the shirt on it. Well

folks this soon became

our favorite game of

the day! Dressing a

goat is not an easy

thing to do especially

for the first few com-

petitors when the goats

were pretty spry!

There was a lots of

laughter and fun with

this game. Thanks to

Pam Heinrichs for

bringing in her goats

for this event, we plan

on expanding our 4H

fun with goats and

members will try their

hand at goat tying in

the spring. Also thanks

to Shaun Gardner for

hauling a lot of neces-

sary items to Walkers

Arena for the day.

The Club will be hold-

ing a Project Meeting

on Sunday, November,

25 to work on their

manuals, older mem-

bers will complete a

leather craft and

Cloverbuds will make

Rhythm Beads. Four

members, Ashleigh,

Kabrina, Lauren and

Taylor are also meeting

to work on the Mane

Event Bus Tour for

2013. They hope to

have the Tour package

ready for sale prior to

Christmas so folks may

consider purchasing it

as a gift for the Equine

Enthusiast in their

family.

The Club will also be

holding a Christmas

Party during the Holi-

day Season.

Dear Friends,

Winter is a wonderful

time of year, but there

always exists the risk

of unexpected weather

and its complications.

The best way to be

ready for winter is to

have a plan and be-

come familiar with the

services that are avail-

able in your area.

I’d like to share with

you a few links that

provide useful informa-

tion throughout winter,

and I encourage you to

bookmark these web-

sites for easy access.

The Weather Office

provides current and

future weather for your

community, and has in-

formation on potential

storms, flooding and

other unexpected

events. Environment

Canada is also respon-

sible to alert the public

in the case of inclement

weather, and will al-

ways post the most cur-

rent meteorological

information on its web-

site.

Before travelling by

vehicle, be sure to

check local Road Condi-

tions on the

Saskatchewan Depart-

ment of Highways web-

site. You can also sign

up to download reports

of road conditions to

your phone by visiting

this website.

The Government of

Canada recently re-

launched its GetPre-

pared.ca website to

help folks plan for

emergencies. New sec-

tions include preparing

children for emergen-

cies, how to plan for

pets and service ani-

mals, and using tech-

nology to keep in touch

during emergencies.

Finally, if there is any-

thing I can do to help

you access these serv-

ices, please don’t hesi-

tate to contact my

office.

Sincerely,

Kelly Block, MP

Our government’s com-

mitment to continuing

to move Saskatchewan for-

ward was seen again in this

week’s announcement regard-

ing the Information Services

Corporation (ISC). We intro-

duced legislation that will

allow ISC to take the next

steps to expand into new mar-

kets and continue growing.

This legislation will allow for

shares in the provincially

owned corporation to be sold

to the public with the

province retaining 40 per cent

ownership. Of the 60% of

shares open for public offer-

ing, 45% are available for

Saskatchewan citizens.

Under this legislation, your

private records remain in gov-

ernment hands and ISC’s

head office stays in

Saskatchewan. This move is

also about using the benefits

of growth to improve the

quality of life for you and

your family. Going pub-

lic with ISC is expected

to raise between $90 mil-

lion and $120 million,

which will then go to-

wards addressing the in-

frastructure needs of our

growing province. .

Two other recent an-

nouncements showcased

using the benefits of

growth. Under the

Saskatchewan Advantage

Scholarship program, our

government has awarded

more than 4,000 scholar-

ships worth over $2 mil-

lion. This program was

introduced last spring

and is open to Saskatchewan

grade 12 graduates enrolled

in post-secondary education

in our province. Students ap-

proved will receive up to $500

per year to a lifetime maxi-

mum of $2,000 over ten years.

Using the benefits of growth

also meant the second largest

highways budget in

Saskatchewan’s history with

more than 1,200 KM of high-

ways improvements. This

brings our highway invest-

ment since 2008 to $3.1 bil-

lion. Aggressively investing

in improving our highways

means safer roads and meet-

ing the infrastructure needs

of a growing economy.

This week also saw historic

changes which will reduce

red tape and modernize

Saskatchewan’s liquor regu-

lations. Under these changes,

businesses such as salons,

spas and movie theatres will

be eligible for special use

liquor permits. If the

restaurant permits it, you

can bring in your own bottle

of wine. In total, there are

more than 70 changes. For a

complete list, go to

http://bit.ly/TfME0z.
