RMS Terrorism Risk Summit AGENDA | Wednesday, September 25, 2019 RMS TERRORISM RISK SUMMIT | CONVENE, NEW YORK CITY REGISTRATION WELCOME | Peter Ulrich, RMS Defining and Understanding the Current U.S Terrorism Landscape Steven Simon, Amherst College This presentation will assess the current terrorism landscape in the U.S. It will do this by examining key current terrorism trends in order to better understand both how the terrorism threat environment has changed and what the implications of these changes are in terms of possible future attacks and patterns. Review of the U.S. Counter Terrorism Response and Impact Daniel Benjamin, Dartmouth College This presentation will provide an overview of the current U.S. counter- terrorism strategy. It will present thoughtful analyses of strategic counter terrorism policies implemented in the last three years and look at what proven strategies will yield the most positive impact for the United States. BREAK Legislative Options to Renew the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Scott Williamson, RAA Vice President and Director of Financial Analytics The Terrorism Risk Insurance Program is set to expire at the end of 2020. This session will review the current TRIP structure and explore various legislative options being considered as part of the renewal. It will also shed some light on RAA’s policy analysis that is facilitating industry discussions. A Counterfactual Perspective on Terrorism Risk | Gordon Woo, RMS Terrorism insurance is effectively insurance against the failure of counter- terrorism. For the most part, these counter-terrorism efforts have succeeded in thwarting plots, but what if they hadn’t? This session will focus on counterfactual analysis of terrorism and why we need to use models to quantify terrorism risk. Applications of Terrorism Modeling for Insurers | Derek Blum, RMS This session will review RMS’ terrorism modeling solutions and summarize various uses of terrorism models and risk data that drive insurance decisions.
