Figure 1: A map of Arizona counties.

In this lab, we added map layers to a map project in ArcMap. Then we changed thedata layer symbol properties, created a map layout, created a locator (inset) map. Finally,we added a title, scale bar, and north arrow.

Figure 2: Digitized map

In this lab, we digitized an air photo of a neighborhood in southeast Macomb, Illinois. We created a polygon shapefile for Structures, a polyline shapefile for Streams, and a pointshapefile called trees. Using these polygons, polylines, and points, we digitized the map.

3 Data Entry Report

Figure 3: Data entry for Wyoming counties

In this lab, we worked with data for thematic mapping that came from a variety ofsources. In particular, we added a field to an attribute table, sort records in an attributetable, and joined data tables. Finally, we created a table report.

Figure 6: Graduate symbol map showing the path and intensity of two hurricanes

The purpose of this experiment was to demonstrate the path and intensity of two notablehurricanes – Katrina and Emily. The size and color represent the intensity of the hurricane. The duration of the hurricanes, damages cost by them are given in the legend.
