Introduction

Road safety is one of the global problem nowadays.

1.3 million deaths each year on roads of the world(about 3600 per day, 150 per hour and more than 2 per minute.)

Over 15 millions are seriously injured.

WHO predicts that by 2020 there will be 2.3 million traffic crash deaths worldwide, constituting 27.4% of all injury related deaths.

90% of these will occur in low and middle income countries.

In order to counteract the effect of centrifugal force and to reduce the tendency of the vehicle to overturn or skid, the outer edge of the pavement is raised with respect to the inner edge, thus providing a transverse slope throughout the length of the horizontal curve. This transverse inclination to the pavement surface is known as superelevation.
