Precinct Delegates to the Wayne County Convention and proposals will also appear on the ballot. Also, a third party will appear on the Primary ballot. Along with the Republican and Democratic Parties, the Libertarian Party will appear on the ballot. The Libertarian Party qualified as a consequence of its 2016 Presidential candidate received more than 5% of the ballots cast for Secretary of State in the 2014 General Election (MCL 168.532). Be careful not to split your ticket. While you will only receive one ballot, there are three separate and distinct Primaries on the ballot – Democratic Party, Republican Party and Libertarian Party. As such, you may vote in one party section only. If you vote in more than one party section, the partisan section of your ballot will be rejected. In October, those who are interested will have the opportunity to capture more information about voting on the Department’s website. It is our goal to make absentee voting, result reporting, precinct information and downloading various print items more accessible to you. BallotTrax Beginning with the mailing of absentee ballots for the General Election, BallotTrax will be rolled out. It is a system that tracks the status of every absentee ballot and sends a notification to voters telling them where their ballot is in the election process (from mailed to returned). This gives voters peace of mind knowing their vote remains private and has been counted. Interactive Data Map In the coming months, voters will be able to log onto the Departments website and gather important information concerning their precinct demographics. Information such as voter population; maps and precinct boundaries; representative districts; voter turnout for specific elections and more will all be available with the click of a mouse. Result Reporting In 2017, the Department purchased a new image cast voting system for the city of Detroit. One of the many benefits of the system is that results, upon the close of the polls are immediately transmitted to the Department and securely uploaded to our website where you can conveniently watch the results in your home or wherever you and your smart phone may be at the time. State Primary Report On Tuesday, August 7, 2018, a State Primary Election is scheduled for the purpose of nominating candidates in the offi ce of Governor of the State of Michigan and other federal, state and local offi ces. Precinct Delegates to the Wayne County Convention and proposals will also appear on the ballot.

Satellite Absentee Voting Beginning on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, the Department of Elections will have two satellite sites for those who
are eligible to vote by Absentee Ballot. Those sites are as follows:

Voting Hours will be: Monday – Friday
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. You may also vote Absentee in person at The Detroit Department of Elections
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and The City Clerk’s Office Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturdays will be scheduled based on demand. As a registered voter, you may obtain an absentee voter ballot if you are: • Age 60 years of age or older • Unable to vote without assistance at the polls • Expecting to be out of town on Election Day • In jail awaiting arraignment or trial • Unable to attend the polls due to religious reasons • Appointed to work as an election inspector in a precinct outside of your precinct of residence
