三陸の海で、何かの「異変」が起きているのだろうか。1月23日に宮古沖の定置網でクロマグロが183匹も漁獲された。原油高騰に悩む漁家にとっては格好の「お年玉」で、浜は時ならぬ大漁にわいた。「時ならぬ」というのは、例年なら三陸沖の近海マグロの漁獲は初夏から始まるのが普通だからだ。この時期としては極めて異例の出来事で魚市場関係者を驚かせた。
昨年暮れには、例年なら秋にほとんど終わるサンマが定置網に入り続けた。12月下旬の県内への水揚げは49トン。過去5年間の平均はわずか0・1トンだから、その多さが分かる。県水産技術センターは、サンマは三陸沖に暖水塊があったために南下が妨げられたと説明。マグロは三陸沖に餌となるスルメイカが多かったため、これを追ってきた大きな群れがたまたま網に入ったとみている。
