Clinic Reminder: TDAP INFORMATIONPlease review your child’s immunization records at your earliest convenience, and if your child has already received their Tdap , Please send a copy of the immunization received, to the Cedar Lane Clinic, to have it recorded in your child’s record prior to starting 6th grade on August 31,2015.

In the school year 2015-2016, all middle school students will be required to have documentation of a pertussis, Tdap not the Dtap, vaccine booster after the age of 7 years. If the vaccine has been given after age 7 years then the requirement has been met. Students MUST have documentation to begin school the 2015-2016 year. If this is not provided to the Cedar Lane clinic, before the end of this school year, you will need to then get this to your child’s new Middle School, before the

start of school on August 31, 2015. A list of student’s we have not received an immunization on is sent to your child’s new Middle School, at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.

Again … No student will be allowed to start school on August 31, 2015 without this immunization. There will be No Grace Period for your child without the vaccine and record of it. Also, if your child will not be eleven before August 31, 2015 and will not have received the vaccine, you must submit a note from your child’s doctor, a medical exemption, if the physician chooses to delay administering the Tdap booster until they are 11. Bring this note to this this clinic before the end of the school year otherwise you will need to deliver it to your Middle School Clinic over the summer.

Cafeteria NotesThe Team at Chez Cedar Lane, would like to thank everyone for making this the best place in the world to work!

We appreciate all the gifts, cards, posters, lunches, breakfast, snacks, and wonderful words from the students, parents and faculty.

We all work hard to bring Nutritious food that is served with an eye appeal and comforting smile.

Students are not to bring or apply sunscreen while in class. Only exception is Field Day. UV rays are strongest during midday when some students are at recess.

2. Over the counter allergy eye drops can be kept in the clinic, but need to be brought to school by the parent. A Medication Administration form will need to be filled out. This also applies to Benadryl, which the clinic does not provide

3. A Medication Administration form needs to be filled out and signed by the parents for all medication delivered to the clinic. This applies for all medications that are prescribed or over the counter.

4. NO medication is to be sent to school, in any student’s backpack, for the clinic to administer.

Physical Requests for CASA and camps-* All requests for copies of students’ immunization records will be processed by the clinic with 24 hours from the date of request. Parents needing copies for enrollment in CASA/Summer Camps should keep this processing time in mind when making their request. Copies can be sent home with the student or picked up in the office during school hours. No copies can be faxed.

Concussions-*Any student that has had a diagnosis of a concussion has to provide the clinic with orders from their doctor with restrictions when they return to school. This would include PE, recess, testing etc.

As always never hesitate to call the clinic for any questions that you may have.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Minority Student Academic Achievement Council (MSAAC) Update by Colleen Mullen

The most recent general board meeting was held on April 15th at the Administration Building. School cluster summaries were given and on-going discussions about meeting the needs of all of our students, hiring cultural sensitive and aware teachers, and advocating for our children were all discussed. MSAAC also sponsored their 3rd annual Academic Fair at Tuscarora High School on Saturday, April 18th. A lot of great information was handed out for parents to assist their children in navigating their coursework in Loudoun County Schools. The next general MSAAC meeting will be on Wednesday, May 20th at 7pm in the Administration Building. These are open to the public and always provide a lot of useful information for parents with children in Loudoun County Public Schools.

SEAC Update – by Tricia Wicklife
