Dear Robert Frost School Community, ! October really flew by and I cant believe that November is already here. Thank you to all the parents and guardians who volunteered their time during our fall/Halloween celebrations on October 30th. As the weather begins to change please help us by sending your student(s) to school prepared. We will be going out to recess every day unless it is extremely wet or bitter cold. Students should be dressed appropriately with coats , hats, and gloves to stay warm on the playground. Our school fundraiser is under way. We are selling World’s Finest Chocolate to benefit our school. Our school earns 50% profit on all items sold. The fundraiser runs through Wednesday November 12th and delivery of all items is expected during the week of December 1st. Thank you for supporting Robert Frost by buying delicious chocolate from our students. As the winter weather approaches more and more parents will be bringing their students to school and picking them up. Please make the safety of all Frost students a priority by using extreme caution in and around our parking lots and drive through lane. Please do not leave your car unattended in our drive through lane and pull forward as far as possible, drop off or pick up, and move on so that the traffic flows smoothly. Thank you for your cooperation with keeping our parking lots safe and running smoothly for all Frost students, faculty members and patrons. If you are a social media user and you are not doing so already, please follow us on Twitter and Facebook, follow the links below to access those sites. Thank you to the entire community for your continuing support! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday season. I hope that you are all able to enjoy this amazing time of year with family and friends. !Sincerely, Andy Carbaugh Principal

CALENDAR THE PTA SCOOP!
READ, READ, READ Robert Frost Eagles!
The Road to Success is paved with a lot of READING and HARD
WORK! Studies show that students who read at least 20
minutes a day are more successful than those who don’t. Those
students who read 5 days out of the week will earn 1 Jcket for drawings throughout the year. Those who read all 7 days earn 2 Jckets. Our goal for this year is the same as last year: 60,000 days. We can do it!!! We will have a great reward for our
efforts!
READERS ARE WINNERS!!!

NEWS FROM THE CLASSROOM
First Grade First grade welcomed two new teachers to their team this year, Mrs. Fisher and Mrs. Schroeder. Mrs. Fisher was born and raised in Price, Utah. She raised her family consisJng of three boys and one girl before she went back to school to get her degree in educaJon. Since then, she received a Bachelor’s degree from Utah State University and a Master’s degree in EducaJon and a reading and math endorsement from Southern Utah University. She recently married her best friend and moved from the small, slow-‐paced life in Price; to the big, fast-‐paced life of the city. She loves and misses her grandbabies (and kids) to pieces! In her free Jme, she loves to hang out with her hubby and family, camping, scuba diving, doing cra[s, and home improvement projects, (and a]empJng to ride her motorcycle), and enjoying life to the fullest. Mrs. Schroeder grew up around the world with her military family. She recently graduated from BYU-‐Idaho in Early Childhood/Special EducaJon, and is enjoying her first year of teaching. She is really excited to be at Robert Frost Elementary this year! They are a great asset for our students.
This year in first grade we will have something new, SAGE tesJng. This is the first year that first grade has had to be part of the standardized tesJng. We are excited to get the data from this tesJng to help drive our instrucJon for the students. We have started our year off by learning the rules of the school, revisiJng le]er sounds and sight word in reading and we are now learning how to blend those sounds to make words. Remember that pracJcing every night with your child in reading is the best way for them to become great readers. Please remember to report their reading for Road to Success. In math we are learning many great strategies to help us with our computaJons. Throughout the year, in inter-‐connecJons, we will learn about helpers in our community, plants, and the science process of observaJon. We are so lucky to get the opportunity to have so many specialist at Robert Frost. We love to go to P.E., art and music with these wonderful people. We would like to thank the mothers that came and helped with our Halloween party. The children had a great Jme and are looking forward to our ValenJne’s party. We would also like to thank the parents who volunteer in our classrooms. Our students are required to learn so much in first grade and an extra pair of hands, ears, or eyes is a great help. Thank you to all the parents that supported the PTA in our walk-‐a-‐thon fundraiser. Mrs. Unsworth’s class earned enough to give us an extra fieldtrip. We are super excited that we get two fieldtrips this year. !We are so excited for a great year with awesome students. Thanks for all that you do for your child!

Granite School District Open Enrollment Guidelines
Granite School District provides school choice enrollment in all schools where space is available. Parents are responsible for transportaJon when exercising school choice. This le]er explains Granite School District’s Open Enrollment Guidelines; Open Enrollment is necessary for students to a]end a school other than their home boundary school.
There are two open enrollment periods: Early Open Enrollment and Late Open Enrollment. The Early Open Enrollment period is the recommended Jme to enroll for the next school year. Late Open Enrollment period is for the current year and may be applied for at any Jme. Early open enrollment period for the 2015/2016 school year begins on Monday, December 1, 2014 and ends on Friday, February 20, 2015. Open Enrollment ApplicaJons are available at all schools, and are processed in the order received. Students residing within Granite School District boundaries are given priority. Enrollment depends on space available in the requested grade, class, or program. Open Enrollment requests do not require a release from the student’s home school or district.
A one-‐Jme, non-‐refundable $5.00 processing fee, payable to the requested school, may be charged at the Jme the applicaJon is submi]ed. This fee can be waived for qualified applicants.
If your student is accepted for Open Enrollment, annual reapplicaJon is not required—as long as the student remains in the same school, and space is available. When a student transiJons from elementary school to junior high, or from junior high to high school, there is no automaJc feeder system for Open Enrollment; therefore, reapplicaJon is necessary to a]end a school outside of the student’s home boundary school.
For more detailed informaJon, refer to the back of the Open Enrollment ApplicaJon or Granite School District’s website: www.graniteschools.org; select Departments>PrevenJon and Student Placement>Open Enrollment Guidelines.
