We have already mentioned devices or machines that make

the human beings capable of ‘enhanced power’



there are some ‘skills’ or ‘abilities’ or ‘talents’ or ‘attributes’ of the ‘human being’ that we still do not have the capacity to reproduce artificially with perfection.

On the other hand, there are some ‘skills’ or ‘abilities’ or ‘talents’or ‘attributes’ that technology is capable to reproduce artificiallywith perfection and sometimes can do that better than us.

[ although this is often done by an alternative form ]

We are talking about human ‘skills’ or ‘abilities’ or‘talents’ or ‘attributes’, but also of the ‘living beings’in general

Who is winning the race at this moment? evolution? or technology?

The machines that we humans created to ‘fly’ need a structure

The machines that the human being create for this ability of ‘flying’ did not follow the same principle adopted by evolution:‘flapping the wings’

They demands a complex structure:

o runways for taking off and landing,

o airports,

o heliports,

o air traffic control system,

o fuel supply systems,

o handling luggage systems,

o security systems,

etc., etc.

the machines that the human beingcreated to ‘move’ also need a structure

o fuel supply,

Once again here too, the machines that the human being create for this ability of ‘walking’, or ‘moving, or ‘running’, etc. did not follow the same principle adopted by evolution: using ‘legs’, or ‘paws’.

o bridges,

o overpasses,

o tunnels,

o stations,

o bus stops,

o traffic control,

etc., etc.

and this demands a complex structure

We, the human beings, build machines for almost every ‘ability’ or ‘skill’ of the living beings

These machines built by the humans to reproduce the ‘abilities’ or ‘skills’ of the living beings did not follow the evolution path


In some cases, we have to build ‘a structure’, or ‘a system’ for these machines to work

In the past robots were sometimes portrayed in the literature and movie films as machines that resembles the humans and that they could one day to reproducethemselves and to dominate us


Today we do not have this fear anymore, today we know that industrial robots are not more than machines doing familiar tasks automatically…

… but instead, we are worried with the fact that robots are taking our ‘working places’ (or, ‘jobs’)

In the industry a robot


We do not have anymore several:

heavy tasks

unpleasant tasks

monotonous tasks

repetitive tasks

Which were ‘underpaid’


and, on the other hand, new tasks such as:

supervision of robots

programing robots

maintenance of robots

building robots

Not only of robots but also other machines and robot parts

That is, tasks which are far better remunerated


In the industry robots can perform tasks such as:

screwing up,

soldering,

painting,

moulding,

forger,

cut,

perforate,

transport parts

(from place to place),

etc.


o do not receive wages/salaries

o do not eat

o do not drink

o do not go to the bathroom when working

• without stopping

• without reduce the pace

• without being tired

• without feeling sleepy

Industrial robots:

do that kind of tasks which are repetitive, monotonous, boring, dull, tedious to us, humans


can work 24 hours per day with no rest or pauses

do not loose the concentration

the quality of their work is the same at the end of the dayas it is in the beginning

they are safer than man itself in several routine works

they are quicker and more efficient than man in the majority of the tasks

rarely commit mistakes

Industrial robots:


Economic benefits

cost reductions

productivity gains

increase in competitiveness

efficacious process control

efficient quality control

Industrial robots:


But don’t forget that robotsare only tools

sophisticatetools


and computers are still only complex calculating machines


These machines do not ‘think’, have no ‘inspiration’, have no

‘intelligence’

“Intelligent machines” are another chapter

“Intelligent robots” are another story which is coming soon
