The main location and nerve center for the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN will be located in downtown Minneapolis at the fabulous LIFE TIME FITNESS Target Center, the same building in which the Minnesota Timberwolves play. All pro matches and many of the amateur matches will take place at this facility, located in the center of the exciting Entertainment District in Minneapolis. Restaurants, night-clubs, hotels, and world class shopping are located all around the club. Just four blocks away is the second LIFE TIME location that will be utilized, the Minneapolis LIFE TIME Athletic Club. Lastly, a short seventeen-minute complimentary shuttle ride to the third location – LIFE TIME FITNESS Moore Lake, will complete the rotation. For those of us who like to enjoy our evenings, the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN promises a solid week of non-stop fun, kicking off with a Thursday night International/VIP Reception and then Thursday late-night “get together” at the Marriott City Center Lobby Bar. And that’s only the beginning! On Friday evening, the action moves to Minneapolis’ own

Many activities are scheduled to take place in the Village including an extensive industry trade show, pro autograph signing sessions, concessions, stage with live entertainment, and cash bar. Admission is free for all spectators and players.

Saturday evening will top off the party calendar with the gala racquetball bash of the year – the 21st Annual UnitedHealthcare US OPEN “PARTY WITH THE PROS” (21 & over only) at the red hot POURHOUSE nightclub in downtown Minneapolis. More than 600 racquetball fans and guests are expected to turn out for an evening of exciting entertainment, wonderful desserts, and live entertainment. The cost for guests is $15 per person. Players participating in the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN will be admitted free!

SILENT AUCTION & PRO/AM DOUBLES CHALLENGEFor the benefit of St. Jude, JDRF, and Rafa House, a silent auction will be held during the event featuring Olympic Memorabilia, consumer electronics, household merchandise, and sporting goods equipment. Checks, cash, and credit cards are welcome. In addition, Wednesday evening, October 5th, 32 lucky amateurs will have the opportunity to play in a single elimination (one game to 15) doubles challenge with a top professional player as their partner. All proceeds will be donated to St. Jude and JDRF, and each amateur player will receive an autographed racquet from their pro partner. All player registration will take place at the downtown LIFE TIME FITNESS Target Center(main host club). Check-in is required prior to participating in the event. Hours for registration are: Tuesday, October 4th, 3 p.m.- 10 p.m.; Wednesday, October 5th, 8 a.m.- 10p.m.; Thursday, October 6th, 8 a.m.- 9 p.m.; and Friday, October 7th, 8 a.m.- 9 p.m.

Skill level entrants (A, B, C, D divisions) must be certified at that level by the state director or country representative as being legitimately competitive in the entered skill division at a major national level event. Tournament Directors will use these benchmarks to determine eligibility for skill competition and reserve the right to re-classify or disqualify players when/if they are improperly placed. NOTE: Players in Age+Skill must meet the same criteria.

Everyone wanting to watch pro matches will be required to purchase tickets — see ticket application or call (719) 635-5396 ext.0. All non-players must purchase a ticket to be admitted to the Saturday evening “PARTY WITH THE PROS” (21 & over). Seating is limited, therefore it is strongly recom-mended that you purchase tickets in advance. ABSOLUTELY NO VIEWING FOR PRO MATCHES WILL BE PERMITTED WITHOUT A TICKET. Last year’s ticket packages sold out three weeks in advance, so don’t delay!

A very limited number of four-person courtside luxury boxes (with 5-star catered GOLD Lounge access) may be available.

Hospitality (continental breakfast and lunch) for all players will be available at LIFE TIME FITNESS Moore Lake only. In addition, many restaurants are located right next door to the club in the downtown Minneapolis Entertainment District.

Parking/Airport TransportationParking downtown, like most major cities, can be expensive. For players staying at the Hyatt Place, a special $20 per day rate will be honored in their parking lot. For players flying in for the event, a rental car is not neccessary. For just $1.75 you can catch the Light Rail train at the airport which will bring you right downtown to the Target Center. RULES/FORMAT/RANKINGSAll amateur divisions will be played according to official USA Racquetball rules, including the mandatory use of protective lensed eyewear tested to ASTM F803 or CSA impact standards. Pro divisions will use IRT/LPRT rules. For all age divisions, players must meet the proper age requirement as of the first day of the tourna-ment (October 5th). All divisions (pro and ama-teur) will use the ProPenn HD (purple) ball, the official ball of the IRT and UnitedHealthcare US OPEN. Consolation will not be offered due to court time restrictions. Every match played in all divisions at the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN will be entered in USA Racquetball’s ranking system.

HEROES Divisions Back for 2016! Former and current police, fire, EMT, and armed forces members will be invited to participate in special skill divisions to honor America’s brave protectors. A/B and C/D singles are offered for men and women with a guarantee of at least 2 matches (drop down bracket). As a special “thank you,” at Registration HEROES division participants will receive a NO CHARGE Ticket Package to watch the pro’s ($139 value).

OFFICIATINGAll players will receive $5 for each amateur division match they referee. Players losing a match in pro divisions are required to referee with no fee paid. All players are required to pay a $5 ref fee per division entered.

Players may enter a maximum of two events (three events permitted if at least one is a doubles division or a Pro division). Consolation will not be offered due to court time restrictions. Players in multiple divisions may play back-to-back matches. Returned checks will be assessed a $25 service charge ($10 for declined credit cards). Phone entries will be accepted through the original entry deadline with a $15 service charge and a major credit card by calling the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN headquarters at (719) 635-5396 ext. 0. Maximum amateur draw is 700 players. Once filled, all additional entries received will be returned with refund. Cancel fee before deadline-$30. All players pay $5 ref fee for each division entered. Late entries accepted after deadline only if space available with $20 late fee. Lower cost USAR membership for international members is valid only at event.

MX CMX 30+MX 40+MX 50+

The Men’s and Women’s Pro Singles will begin in the round of 32 with qualifying rounds scheduled as needed. Pro Doubles will begin in the round of 8 with qualifying rounds scheduled as needed. Players wishing to enter the amateur OPEN division must enter it directly as a second event.
