CERTIFICATE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT PROGRAM
The purpose of this program is to provide weavers who are interested in perfecting their skills and knowledge an
opportunity to progress and to evaluate their accomplishments. The Certificate of Accomplishment program con-
sists of three levels of achievement: Apprentice, Journeyman and Master Weaver. Each weaver will independently
submit articles required for each level and the acceptability of the articles, in accordance with the guidelines, will be
evaluated by senior weavers. Both applicants for the ratings and judges will remain anonymous.
The applicant must submit an “Intention to Participate” for each level. The application may be made any time up
until two months before they wish to submit their weavings . Completed projects must be submitted to the chair-
person either by the September meeting - returned after judging at the December meeting - or by the February
meeting - returned after judging at the May meeting.

GIFT THE GUILD SCHOLARSHIPS
At the January meeting guild members decided to distribute the money raised at the “Gift the Guild”
auction as four scholarships of $100 each. The names of all guild members will be placed in a hat and
four will be selected. Scholarships may be used for educational activities which enhance the recipients
knowledge of fiber arts. The scholarships will be awarded in February and should be used in the guild
year. Recipients will then present a program to the guild. If you do not wish to have your name in the
hat, please let Katy Mallams know before the February meeting. [email protected]
EAST MEETS WEST: FIBER IN THE MOUNTAINS
Saturday and Sunday, September 17th and 18th, 2016
At the Green Springs Inn, located 17 miles east of Ashland on Highway 66.
A choice of two workshops - weaving or dyeing - 2 days each.

Minutes for the meeting held on January 12, 2016. President Patricia called the meeting to order. She introduced the Board Members and thanked Kamie and Jeannette for the yummy morning snacks. Minutes of December meeting were accepted with the following correction: the 10 members who donated to FOTAS were Dorothy plus 5 from Saturday Guild and 4 from RVHG. No Short topic. AMWG: Leanne and Kamie reported ANWG has awarded the $1200 grant to Klamath Guild and RVHG for a Retreat Workshop. The Workshop to be held on September 17 & 18, 2016 at the Greensprings Inn . (Location: 1/2 hour East of Ashland on Hwy 66) Rooms are available at the Greensprings Inn. Two workshops: Weaving with Suzie Liles and Dyeing with Janis Thompson. Suzie is open to topic sugges-tions for her workshop. Janis allows participants to chose two classes from Eco Dyeing, or Introduction to Acid Dyeing or Colorplay on Cellullose. Cost: Workshop fees and meals will be between $235 and $275, plus additional cost for lodging. The Inn has rooms for 2 to 4 occupants. Also, eight cabins which sleep 4 to 8. The lodging cost depends on number sharing room. Maximum: of 30 participants for workshop. Scholarships: Members agreed to take $400 from last years unused scholarship fund to defray total expens-es for RVHG members attending workshop. Also, RVHG members can still apply for a scholarship. If space is available, the workshops will be opened to other guilds. Vendors: will be able to set up wares. The Workshop Committee will discuss whether to charge the vendors a small fee. Sign-Up: A sign-up sheet for workshop committees was passed around. It will take all of us to put on a good workshop. Representatives from Klamath Guild and RVHG will meet for final decisions More information will be availa-ble at February meeting. Important Information: Sign up by April 2016 and reserve room as space will fill up. Meeting broke for a program on “Double Faced Weaves” presented by Kamie and Leanne. Very informative with great samples! Treasurer’s Report: Leanne Krieger reported The new checking account balance after adding Income of $123.50 and subtracting expenses of $104.00 is $2,458.55. Current saving account balance with interest is $2,095.11. This makes total worth $4,553.66. After Subtracting dedicated funds of $1,172.69, RVHG’s net worth is $3,380.97 Show & Share: Many wonderful items made by members were shared. WEGO: Nothing to report. Outreach: Jeanette reported The Hanley Farms Fair will take place on May 28, 2016 from 11:00am to 4:00pm. They would like RVHG to again demonstrate weaving. The Kumihimo and bracelets were popular with participants. Sign up sheet will be available at February meeting. Space is available for vendors to sell items. Let Dorothy know by summer if you are participating in the Master Weaver Program. Items need to be sub-mitted in September, 2016. If you have questions about program, see Dorothy. Keep FOTAS in mind when weaving. Library: Sharon created an index for Handwoven Magazine. The library has issues 1979 to 2004, 2005 to 2011, and 2012 to Dec 2015. The McMorrin balance is now availa-ble in library. Next Steps in Weaving was donated by author Patti Graver to the guild library. Cost is $2 for books culled from library by Sharon and Nadine. Sharon is keeping some historic type weaving books at her house plus notebooks. Let her know if interested in looking at them. Sharon has the DVD of Country Weaving Book. Minutes of the meeting on January 9, 2016
President: Bridget Bloch facilitated today’s meeting. Bridget thanked our hostess Katy Mallams and Dawn Wille for the yum-
my treats they provided for us today. Bridget welcomed guest Kristy Clark; who came with Deb Keberle and a new member Lori
Bloom, originally from Washington State, who came with Elaine Plaisance today. Show and Share was inspirational with all the
lovely items members shared. Thanks for the information on natural colored cotton from Lunatic Fringe also available from Cotton
Clouds.
This Month’s Program: Dawn Wille did a recap of the Robyn Spady “Extreme Warp Makeover” workshop which she attended
last year. Dawn gave praise for Robyn’s enthusiastic teaching style and the many tips she learned in the workshop. Participants
chose one of three threadings using a direct tie-up to then weave samples of many drafts. It was interesting to see the results the
one draft woven on each threading. Dawn said she learned it is very valuable to use a floating selvedge to keep edges straight.
Also use of tags to note each draft for later review was fun and helpful. Dawn shared her sampler from the class and stated that
the poly-chrome was her favorite. Robyn also gave 2 lectures during the workshop; “Taming of the Hue” and “Tips and Tricks for
Weaving”.
Vice President: Renee Stephens reminded members of the our challenge, “WEAVE FROM YOUR FAMILY TREE”; and emphasized
not to be hard on yourselves…maybe you’re not fond of the weaving of your ancestors… possibly the countries colors, flag or na-
tional flower whatever appeals to your heart and don’t forget we will also bring a dish representing our family to the June potluck.
Secretary: Minutes of last month approved with one correction; the Gift the Guild silent auction brought in $517, not $550 as
previously reported. Dorothy brought in a donation of equipment which sold for $23.00 and those funds went to the general fund
along with a $1.00 donation.
Treasurer: Katy Mallams gave the financial report; the new checking account balance is $2,055.95 after deposits. There were no
expenses. Our new savings account balance remains unchanged at $2,832.74. The scholarship fund is at $402.32 with 3 scholar-
ships outstanding. The library fund has $99.11.
Workshops: Jason Collingwood’s “3-End Block Weave with Shaft Switching” rug workshop will be held on March 18-20th. Depos-
its were collected and one space remains available if anyone wishes to attend. The new price for the workshop will be approxi-
mately $120. There will be no refund of deposits if cancelation occurs after February 25th. There is currently no one on the waiting
list, so please contact Deb Keberle if you wish to attend the workshop or need to withdraw. [email protected] or (541)846-0409.
Outreach: Nothing to report.
WeGO: Elizabeth White reported that the theme for the traveling show for 2018 is “Color Gone Wild”. A prospectus with entry
requirements and deadline information will be available in the summer of 2016. This will be a juried show of fiber techniques,
weaving, spinning, felting and basket-making. It has been decided to decrease the number of venues to allow each show to be
open longer. WeGo is planning to hang and remove each show if the venue is incapable to take some burden off the local guilds.
ANWG: Cindie Kitchin had exciting news to report. ANWG approved our grant request. SHG will receive $600.00 to use to-
wards the Jason Collingwood workshop. Two months after the workshop a report with pictures will need to be submitted to
ANWG as a requirement of the grant approval. Now excepting offers to write the review.
Library: Elaine donated a book to the library, 16 Harness Patterns-The Fanciest Twills of All by Fred A. Pennington. Kathy Walker
donated her Charka for spinning cotton, so here’s your chance to try out something new without expense Thank you ladies for
your donations! Bridget Bloch is your contact if there is a book of interest to you, she will bring it to a meeting or arrange pick-up.

SHG WORKSHOP INFORMATION
The Jason Collingwood workshop “Three End Block Weaves with Shaft Switching” is on March
18th, 19th & 20th, 2016. It will be held at the IOOF Hall in Central Point, 1130 Hazel Street.

Study Groups: The Rug Weaving group will meet again at noon prior to the regular guild meeting. Today they discussed warping and made plans for a group purchase of linen for the upcoming workshop.
The clothing study group will be reconvening, contact Lucy Defranco @ [email protected] for information.
New Business:
Guild Sale A brief brainstorming session of ideas for a guild sale pursued. Many ideas were presented and good infor-mation from past guild sales was shared. Should this coincide with other venues such as the holiday sale at the Expo or should it be an individual sale? Should other guilds be invited to participate, should it be in the fall or closer to Christ-mas? Will only woven textiles be allowed or will we include other fiber related articles? Do we want to focus on price points and clientele or widen the field? Members interested in helping on a planning committee are encouraged to sign-up with Bridget.
Distribution of Funds from “Gift the Guild” silent auction There was a unanimous vote to continue the scholar-
ship program, it provides guild programs and motivation to both the presenter and members. We then voted on who will participate, and it was decided that a drawing will occur at the February meeting. You do not need to be present to win, but you must notify someone to place your name in the drawing. Another vote determined that the monies will be distributed immediately and that a scholarship recipient may use the funds as they choose…one may choose to attend a conference, workshop or purchase videos and supplies for learning a new technique and give a presentation about what they learned. The next vote determined that four $100 scholarships will be awarded this year, thus allowing some monies to remain in the fund for next year.
Side Notes: it was shared that Fabric of Vision in Ashland is going out of business, great deals on fabulous fabrics… and “Out of the Blue” is back in business on Lithia Way in Ashland and they have great buttons for your projects. Teresa gave her apologies for the late arrival of the newsletter…Don’t sweat it Teresa, we appreciate all you do for us, you’re awesome!

Vicki and Marjorie. We will be meeting in Medford.
