Duties and Responsibilities Assist in providing 24-hour radiography, RIS/PACS services Ability to meet strict deadlines in a pressurised environment Ability to work long and irregular hours when needed Provide, coordinate and supervise high quality radiographic, RIS/PACS services Undertake personnel development and training of RIS/PACS duties effectively and efficiently Work with the Radiology HOD to set standards and protocols, functioning in accordance with best practice and in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal standards and NMCH values requirements Ensure the safe use and maintenance of highly specialised imaging and reporting equipment Adhere to all local imaging safety procedures and report problems to senior members of staff or on- site engineering support Maintain clinical stock and IT supplies in the department Adhere to and ensure compliance with Radiation Control Board, Hazardous Substance Act, HPCSA and all other relevant legislations Ensure compliance with National Core Standards as stipulated by the department Drive and implement changes arising in the labour laws pertaining to radiography standards Ability to communicate with all stakeholders Ensure good communication and team work in the Radiology department and NMCH staff

Summary of main functions and purpose of job

The position purpose of the RIS/PACS Administrator is to provide and coordinate an excellent and professional RIS/PACS service in the Radiography department.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in providing 24-hour radiography, RIS/PACS services

• Ability to meet strict deadlines in a pressurised environment

 • Manage junior staff, workforce reviews and perform PMDS at relevant times

• Manage RIS/PACS trouble-shooting and problem solving

Qualification and Experience

• National Diploma Diagnostic radiography or equivalent qualification

• Registration with HPCSA as a diagnostic radiographer

• Minimum of 5 years appropriate experience in the Diagnostic Radiography profession after registration with HPCSA  

 • A qualification in Information Systems

• In addition, a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a RIS/PACS Administrator

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competencies Required

• Strong planning and organisational skills

• Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written

• Relevant technological and computer literacy

• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

• Attention to detail and accuracy
