Depth of fieldDirect assessment: Fully depress the stop-down key 11, thus closing the aperture o thepreset value. The expected depth of f ield inthe image can then be judged direct ly on thefocusing screen 52 (suitable only for br ightl ighting and with not too small apertures) .From the depth of fleld indicator: Here theaperture marks corresponding to the presetlens aperture on the scale 19, to each side ofthe index mark 17, point to the depht of f ieldzone on the focusing r ing 14 (circle of confu-sion z : 50 microns or 0.002 nch; urther stop-ping down is necessary or utmost sharpness) .Example : 50 mm Planar /1 .8 , s topped downto f /16 and focused to 10 feet : depth of f ieldf rom approx. 51/z eet to m.

From tables: A depth of f ield table is availableseparately, with exact values for al l lenses.

The exposure meter

The ful l-f ield exposure measurement methodat the working aperture has been designed bypractical photographers or practical photo-graphy. n the large majori ty of cases his wellplanned system direct ly yields the optimumreading. t works rel iably even in diff icult spe-cial cases if a few sim ple rules are fol lowed.

The exposure meter is a precision nstrumentof r ighsensit ivi ty i th a special ly xtended mea-sur ing ange 1 second a t f /1 .8 o r / roooseconda t f 16 wi th 100 ASA or 21 DIN i lm) . t assessesthe average brightness of the subject f ieldcovered and uses two cadmium sulphidece l l s to measure he l igh t coming hrough helens . Th i s "TTL measurement" au tomat ica l lya l lows o r a l l b r igh tness a r i a t ions due to f i l -ters, extension ubes, extension bellows, effec-t ive lens aperture changes etc. Moreover, heRollei measuring system accordingly weights

Releasing

Hold the camera steady. Smoothly and fullydepress he release button 12.

With cable reteaseFor slower shutter speeds - exposure t imeslonger than 1/ro second - screw the cablerelease into the socket 31 and mount thecamera on a tr ipod (with a thread of up to 0.18inch /4 .5 mm leng th ) . For long t ime exposuresuse a cable rel ease with lock, also cover thefinder eyepiece o screen off stray l ight .

Tension the lever 32 as far as i t wil l go. Thedelay t ime is abou t 12 seconds af ter pressingthe star t button 33.The shutter and self- t imer can be tensionedand released independently of each other.Hence the release button 12 can be used fordirect exposures even when the self- t imer stensioned, while the self t imer can run down
