More Notes of Appreciation We Have Received - Thank You for Lifting Us Up!

Father Will,

I just want to thank you for keeping me connected with my faith.

I am a parishioner of St. Ignatius but attended 8:00 AM Mass regularly before Covid-19. I have enjoyed coming to the Church daily to pray and watching daily Mass online. I hope this donation will help the Parish.

Looking forward to attending Mass again soon. Praying for an end to this.

God Bless!

Dear Father Will,

Everyone I meet from the Parish is so pleased with ev-erything you’ve been doing - especially leaving the Church open for Adoration.

Keep up the good work. Blessings until we meet again!

Dear Father Will,

We would like to thank you for all the extra steps you have been taking to keep our parish well connected during this challenging time. Your daily Mass, along with the Sunday Mass, your saying of the Rosary, and your dis-tribution of the palms for Easter Sunday and carnations for Mother’s Day are just a few examples of your thoughtfulness to your parishioners.

We hope that you, and your loved ones, stay safe and healthy. Hopefully, life will return to some type of normalcy before too long. Until then, may the Holy Spirit continue to bless you with the wisdom and leadership that you have shown throughout this pandemic.

With Warm Regards!

Dear Father Will,

Not going to Church makes collection a lit-tle off!

STATEMENT FROM THE ARCHDIOCESE OF PHILADELPHIAREGARDING THE PROJECTED RESUMPTION OF THE PUBLIC CELEBRATION

OF MASS IN THE FIVE-COUNTY REGIONIn Mid-March, the celebration of public Mass was suspended in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the obligation for the faithful to at-tend Mass was dispensed. Those decisions were not made lightly and were always intended to be temporary measures.

They were made out of necessity for the common good and in recognition of the fact that all of us have a responsibility for the preserva-tion of public health, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this unprecedented time, the Archdiocese has made every effort to provide for the spiritual needs of the faithful as well as the temporal needs of those who benefit from its many charitable works.

It is important to note that Catholic churches in the Archdiocese have never been closed. Local parish churches have remained open for private prayer as well as the celebration of the Sacraments Baptism, Penance, Matrimony, and funeral Masses at the discretion of the local pastor and with respect for guidelines from public health officials as they have evolved over time.

Based on recent statements from government officials at the state level, it is anticipated that the five-county region comprising the Arch-diocese of Philadelphia will move into the “yellow” phase of the statewide re-opening plan by Friday, June 5th. As such, it is projected that the celebration of daily and Sunday Masses will resume beginning on Saturday, June 6th.

The administration of the Archdiocese has been working in consultation with public health officials to ensure that such a resumption takes place within the context of state approved guidelines and is actively working to provide appropriate guidance to its clergy so that all will be as prepared as possible when the public celebration of Mass begins again. All of us are eager to open the doors of Church wide for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

St. John’s Loving HandsNeeds Your Help!

Liz Schenck, Rosemary Hayes, Linda Loveless, and Mary Dulin of St. John’s Loving Hands have been making masks for the past five weeks. They have made over 300 and have donated them to St. Mary’s Hospital lab, Thomas Jefferson MRI, Capital Health Oncology and Emergency staff, and a nursing home. These women are true angels! To continue their efforts, they need 1/4 inch elastic, cotton material, and thread. These items can be left in the St. Gi-anna Room at Church for them to pick up.

There is also yarn in a basket in the St. Gianna Room that is avail-able for any knitter or crocheter to pick up. Even though it is spring, children will need hats and gloves to wear next winter and now is the time to start making them! Any finished products can be left in the St. Gianna Room.

SOCIAL CONCERNS COMMITTEE([email protected])

On Friday, May 22nd, St. John’s Social Concerns Committee provided, through the generous support of ten volunteers, 38 dinners and 30 lunches for the homeless. The meals were picked up in St. John’s parking lot by 2 vol-unteers from the Association for the Homeless and Those in Need (AHTN) who then distributed the meals to the homeless on Friday evening and Sat-urday at lunchtime. Thirty $5.00 WAWA gift cards were also donated by 4 volunteers and given to the homeless with their dinner. This is the third time that Social Concerns has provided meals for the home-less during the pandemic. The meal in March was donated by Panera Bread and 4 volunteers donated the meals in April. For each of these meals, Social Concerns provided 25 WAWA gift cards as well.Social Concerns will continue to provide meals in June. Currently volunteers are preparing meals in their homes and bringing them to the church parking lot to be picked up. This is most probably the format that will be followed for June 26th . If interested in preparing 5 to 10 meals in your home to donate for that date, please contact Diane Coyle ([email protected]). Donations of $5.00 WAWA gift cards can also be left at the Parish offices.

Personally I do not believe in coincidences, instead I believe that everything happens for a reason. So, the fact that Pentecost Sunday is the last Sunday before we enter the “yellow phase” here in Bucks County, I believe is God’s way of saying “I prepared you, now go out and preach.” Just as the apostles gathered in the upper room that Pentecost and were scared, so are we. Scared of the unknown, scared of what is going to happen next. But together let us go out and spread God’s word to others. Hope to see you all soon!

Thank you for YOUR interest in our P.R.E.P. program. Can you believe that summer is just around the corner?

I want to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. These last few months have put a strain on all of us. AND HOW I MISS THE SMILES OF THE STUDENTS; THE WARM WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT FROM THE PARENTS; THE LOVING SUPPORT OF THE CATECHISTS AND STAFF MEMBERS!!!

But there is something that needs to be taken care of as soon as you can - REGISTRATION.

The registration format for P.R.E.P. (Parish Religious Education Program) for 2020-2021 and the FEE on-line are ready for your input. Please note that your child(ren) will NOT be automatically re-registered in our P.R.E.P. without you completing the on-line registration. All children including those entering Grade Level 1 need to register as soon as possible. Catechists and curriculum materials and session choices are contingent on the number of children in any given class. Once a grade level reaches the maximum number of students permitted in the class session, it is automatically closed.

Be assured, as in any academic setting, that any information shared for the best interest of the child is held in strictest confidence.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia recently launched “Arise: Restoring Catholic Life After the Pandemic,” an initiative to invigorate parish life after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted (archphila.org/arise). The initiative provides parishes and Archdiocesan institutions with guidance and resources for worship, catechesis, evangelization, and communica-tions to help clergy and faithful reintegrate into active, in-person partici-pation in Mass and parish activities. May the Holy Spirit descend upon us and conform our response to the will of Jesus Christ!
