Let's read Romans chapter 12

Romans 12:1, Brothers In ChristRomans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothersSo many times as I teach through the Bible I have to show people that the passage they're concerned about is addressing Israel specifically. Sometimes I get the question Which part is directed to us?The epistles!Romans 12:1-2 you can claim as your life verse.

Romans 12:1, Our Ministry In Light of, Loss Of MinistryNIVO Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Paul said this just after;NAU Romans 11:20 Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear;Paul is only speaking to believers (you stand by faith/brothers). Since God might end our ministry any minute, Paul urges (not commands) us to serve Him!

Romans 12:1, Our Ministry In Light of, Loss Of MinistryNIVO Romans 12:1 ThereforeTherefore= wherefore, therefore, then. What is that therefore therefore?Remember that you should stop, consider, ponder, and reflect on what has just been said.In other words what is God's mercy and what were the 11 chapters leading up to this chapter about?

Romans 12:1, God's mercyNIVO Romans 12:1 in view of God's mercyPaul spent three chapters on the wretchedness of humans, and our hopeless state. Then the Holy Spirit explained the justification of God that is a gift of Jesus Christ.I'm convinced that's what Paul meant by God's mercy

Romans 12:1spiritual service of worship,Menno Simons said, True evangelical faith is of such a nature it cannot lie dormant, but spreads itself out in all kinds of righteousness and fruits of love. It dies to flesh and blood; it destroys all lusts and forbidden desires; it seeks, serves, and fears God in its inmost soul; it clothes the naked; it feeds the hungry; it comforts the sorrowful; it shelters the destitute; it aids and consoles the sad; it does good to those who do it harm; it serves those that harm it; it prays for those who persecute it; it teaches, admonishes, and judges us with the Word of the Lord; it seeks those who are lost; it binds up what is wounded; it heals the sick; it saves what is strong (sound); it becomes all things to all people. The persecution, suffering, and anguish that come to it for the sake of the Lord's truth have become a glorious joy and comfort to it.--Menno Simons (1496-31 January 1561, Anabaptist leader, Simons was a contemporary of the Protestant Reformers, and his followers became known as Mennonites)

Romans 12:1 offer your bodies as living sacrificesNAU Luke 14:27 "Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.NAU Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. [Luke 9:23, Matthew 10:38]Billy Graham said, Jesus invited us, not to a picnic, but to a pilgrimage; not to a frolic, but to a fight. He offered us, not an excursion, but an execution. Our Savior said that we would have to be ready to die to self, sin, and the world.NAU Philippians 2:17 But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.

Luke 14:27, Matthew 16:24 Philippians 2:17 Romans 12:1

Romans 12:2conformed, and glorifiedNIVO Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.NAU Romans 8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; If you have been called and justified (saved), then it is absolutely guaranteed that you will be conformed, and glorified (Romans 8:29-30). We can do this the easy way or the hard way.

Rom 12:2, Renewed NAU 2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.NAU Ephesians 4:23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,NAU Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him--Augustus Toplady said, The breathing I did yesterday will not keep me alive today- I must continue to breathe afresh every moment, or my life will cease. In like manner, yesterdays grace and spiritual strength must be renewed, and the Holy Spirit must continue to breathe on my soul from moment to moment in order that I may continue to enjoy Him and to work the works He has assigned me.

Romans 12:1, living sacrifices Die To Self, Carry Your CrossNAU Luke 14:27 "Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.NAU Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. Luke 14:27, Matthew 16:24 Philippians 2:17 Romans 12:1

Romans 12:1-2 How Do I Renew My Mind?NAU Ephesians 4:22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. 25 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another. 26 BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not give the devil an opportunity. 28 He who

Romans 12:1-2 How Do I Renew My Mind?steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need. 29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Romans 12:1-2 How Do I Renew My Mind?NAU Matthew 5:23 "Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering. If I ran into your car and damaged you and it, and then I walked over, knelt down and sincerely prayed for you and your car, then I turned around and walked away. You would not be very happy with me. I did not first be reconciledNAU James 2:15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.Romans 12:20, Luke 3:11, Isaiah 58:7, 1 John 3:17-18, 4:20,

Romans 12:1, your spiritual act of worship, Not Rewards For DeedsThe book of Romans does not have even one use of the words, reward, rewards, rewarding, rewarded, or rewarder. Its your reasonable service not give to get.1 Corinthians 3:8each will receive his own reward according to his own labor14 If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.Hebrews 11:24 By faith Moses26 considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.2 John 1:8 Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.Revelation 11:18the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name, the small and the greatRevelation 22:12 My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.

Romans 12:2 Conforming Into Christ LikenessNAU Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed [present middle, could mean stop conforming yourselves] to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.Billy Graham said, Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion; it is like a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ. Romans 8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;Philippians 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;

Romans 12:2, Be TransformedNAU Philippians 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; 21 who will transform the body of our humble state [into a glorified] into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.NAU 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Romans 12:2, Be Transformed Romans 12:2 be transformed by the renewing of your mind1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,Religion today is not transforming people; rather it is being transformed by the people. It is not raising the moral level of society; it is descending to society's own level, and congratulating itself that it has scored a victory because society is smilingly accepting its surrender. A. Romans 12:2God's will for you, will of God?1 Thessalonians 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.1 Thessalonians 4:3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;1 Peter 2:15 For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.1 Peter 4:19, 3:17 For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong. 2 Corinthians 7:9you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; according to the will of GodFrederick Buechner said, Go where your best prayers take you.

Be Transformed

Romans 12:6, Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?NAU Romans 12:6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; 7 if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; 8 or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. If the RCC is correct in its sacerdotalism (priestism) don't you think that the gift/office of Priest, Cardinal, or Pope would have been mentioned somewhere in the New Testament for the church.

Romans 12:6, Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?Instead, the New Testament clearly teaches the priesthood of all believers;NAU Acts 8:4 Therefore, those who had been scattered went about preaching the word.NAU Acts 8:38 And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him. [without getting permission from some higher authority]NAU 1 Thessalonians 1:8 For the word of the Lord has sounded forth from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no need to say anything.

Romans 12:6, Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?NAU 1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified

Romans 12:6, Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?NAU 1 Peter 2:5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 7 This precious value, then, is for you who believe; 9 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD

Romans 12:6, Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?NAU 1 Peter 5:1 Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, 2 shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; 3 nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock.

Romans 12:6, Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?NAU Revelation 1:6 and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and FatherNAU Ephesians 3:10 so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.

Romans 12:17+21+9, Evil Or GoodNAU Romans 12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.Hebrews 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil. The Bible, declares most things as black or white, no grey, and assumes we can discern it.3 John 1:11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.God wants us to flee from evil and cling to the good. Q.I read one of your articles on forgiveness and you told someone to forgive the person for what they did to them. You said to not worry about getting revenge for what they did, because God would take care of it for them. Did I understand that correctly? If you forgive a person who did you wrong, will God will punish that person for hurting you?

Romans 12:18-20 Will God Punish Them For Me?gracethrufaith.com A.InRomans 12:18-20 Paul was quoting fromDeut. 32:35. Harboring anger and plotting revenge against a person who wronged us is detrimental to our physical and mental heath and can cause a rift in our relationship with the Lord. This is why He wants us to let Him determine how to deal with a person who has wronged us.But our forgiveness should not be conditioned only on the promise that God will punish someone who has wronged us. God expects us to forgive one another just as in Christ He forgave us (Ephesians 4:32). Therefore, even without such a promise, we should forgive each other out of gratitude for the fact God has forgiven us and punished His own Son in our place. http://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/will-god-punish-them-for-me/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Gracethrufaith+%28GraceThruFaith%29

By acts of kindness, the believers will heap coals of fire on the head of their enemies, perhaps bringing shame and repentance to them. It is possible for an enemy to become friend. This is the phenomenal power of God's love that believers are connected to through Christ.

Our Living Sacrifice Romans 12:1-2By Kersley FitzgeraldTherefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. These verses are familiar to anyone who has studied the Bible for any length of time. We recite them as children and catch a twinge of guilt whenever we're reminded of them. But what do they mean? First off, a look at the words.

Therefore The end of Romans 11 talks about the relationship between the Gentile Roman Christians and the ethnic and religious Jews. Salvation came from the Jews in the person of Jesus. They rejected Christ and were under a "partial hardening" (Romans 11:25), which blinded many of them to the truth about Jesus being the Messiah. The reason given for the hardening is so that the "fullness of the Gentiles" would have the opportunity to learn about and accept Christ. The Jews were supposed to accept Christ and tell the world about Him. Instead, they rejected Him. But God's plan would not be thwarted; He can take our sin and redeem the situation. So He took the Jews' rejection and used it to carry out His plan, anyway.

Romans 11:28-32 says that this dichotomy between disobedience and grace is a long-running theme throughout history. Both the Jews and the Gentiles go back and forth between rejecting God and receiving His mercy. The ultimate result will be "mercy on all" (Romans 11:32).

Romans 11:33-36 quotes Isaiah and Job in exalting God's inscrutability and then acknowledges that He is the source of this crazy plan.

Therefore: because of the history of God working in the world, responding to disobedience with grace and rejection with salvation we should do the rest of the stuff in Romans 12:1-2. And even this is only possible "by the mercies of God."

Mercy We've been taught in Sunday school that mercy is not getting the punishment you deserve. The Greek oiktirmos seems to have an even more emotional side to it. It includes the compassion, deep in the bowels, that drives pity. Our disobedience has made us so pathetic, that it is only through pity that God can save us.

Present The Greek paristemi, has a few subtle shades. It can mean to provide, to stand beside, to place at someone else's disposal. Considering the body is being offered as a sacrifice, the latter would be the closest meaning.

Body The Greek for "body," or soma means what you would expect the physical body of a person or a "body" as in a group, as in the church. But more Platonically, it means "that which casts a shadow as distinguished from the shadow itself." In Plato's "Allegory of the Cave," this would mean the true object, and not the shadows or poor reproductions that we see every day. But it could mean that we are to present ourselves and not just the result of our ourselves. Meaning, we are to give our very identities and not just the results of our labor. God wants all of us, not just our work.

Life There are three words for "life" in Greek. Bios is the physical body and psuche is the mind, emotion, and will, but zoe or zao is used here. It's vitality. It's the life God gives us through Christ. It is blessed and active and eternal. The sacrifice of our being isn't passive; it's like a rushing river.

Holy "Holy," or hagios, is described in Laurel Davis's recent article as:...clean, good, pure, godly, sacred, sanctified (set apart). In the general sense, a synonym for "holy" is "moral," and in the strictest, biblical sense it describes an attitude and corresponding behavior that's character that show reverence toward God and respect for His moral standards. She points out that holiness is something we aspire to, as opposed to "righteousness," which is only endowed by God.

Sacrifice Although the English word "sacrifice" has a root in the Latin for "sacred," the Greek thusia is all about death. The root thuo means to immolate, slay, kill, and/or slaughter.

Acceptable "Acceptable" is the Greek euarestos, which can mean acceptable or well pleasing. One of the word's roots is found in Matthew 25:21's "Well done, good and faithful servant..." Jesus used the other root in John 8:29 when He said, "I always do the things that are pleasing" to God. So, for those who wish to hear God praise their service to Him, "acceptable" is kind of a tame translation. Euarestos is the best we can ever hope to do.In Greek, "spiritual" doesn't mean other-worldly, it means logical, reasonable, unlike our earthly existence.tweetSpiritual When we think of "spiritual," we usually think of other-worldly. But the Greek logikos is related to both logos and our "logic." The word implies that the spiritual side of life is logical and makes sense, contrary to how modern culture may insist. It is only logical in God's point of view to serve God in this way. Douglas J. Moo in The NIV Application Commentary says it probably means "informed" or "understanding." So that this act worship is something we've thought about, mulled over, and deliberately chosen.

Psalm 6:6, HOW TEARS POINT TO A DESIGNER, creationmoments.comMany men today believe that the shedding of tears is a sign of weakness. They seem to have forgotten that Jesus wept when told that Lazarus had died. Jeremiah is known as the "weeping prophet" who shed tears over a backslidden nation. Even David, the slayer of tens of thousands, wrote that he often drenched his bed with tears. Our Designer not only gave us glands to produce tears, He also gave us an ingenious way to dispose of excess tears. Here is how William Paley described this design feature in his nineteenth-century classic Natural Theology: "To keep the eye moist and clean a wash is constantly supplied by a secretion for the purpose; and the superfluous brine is conveyed to the nose through a perforation in the bone as large as a goose quill. When the fluid has entered the nose, it spreads itself upon the inside of the nostril and is evaporated by the current of warm air which in the course of respiration is continually passing over it. Listen closely to Paley's next words: "It's easily perceived that the eye must want moisture; but could the 'want' of the eye generate the gland which produces the tear, or bore the hole by which it's discharged a hole through bone? The answer, of course, is no, not in a billion years! As any rational person can plainly see, these features were designed by our Creator.Notes: William Paley, Natural Theology, p. 33. Romans 12:1, Two Masters And Cognitive DissonanceCognitive DissonanceWednesday, March 5th, 2014Current EventsPast FeaturedRaptureCommentary by Jack KelleySon of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?(Ezekiel 14:3)The dictionary defines cognitive dissonance as an anxiety that results from simultaneously holding contradictory or otherwise incompatible attitudes or beliefs. To relieve this anxiety the human mind will strive to diminish the relative importance of one of those beliefs in favor of the other.Jesus warned us that no man can serve two masters (Matt. 6:24) and James said when we pray we must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind and should not think he will receive anything from the Lord (James 1:6-8).God was rhetorically asking Ezekiel if He should let people with idols in their hearts even pray to Him, Jesus was warning us about becoming distracted by wealth and James was referring to wavering faith, but the principle is the same in all three instances. A close personal relationship with God requires wholehearted devotion to Him. These are the prayers God is sure to answer. There can be no cognitive dissonance found in us.We love the promise fromRomans 8:28,God is working everything together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. But how many of us know that the word translated love in that verse is agape? Its the highest form of love in the Greek language and it means to be totally given over to the object of ones love regardless of the outcome.Jesus loved us that way. He gave up His life for us, remember?Romans 12:1says we should be willing to do the same for Him. Of course, Im not talking about our physical life. Im talking about giving up our version of our future in favor of His. As long as we retain any willfulness or self-determination were not offering our whole beings as living sacrifices. Thats why Paul told us not to conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). Were not to pattern our lives according to the things of this world, but according to His will for us.Well Theres Your ProblemLet others lament over our deplorable behavior and our weak faith. Im going to suggest that the area where Christians in the US today are the most vulnerable has to do with the cognitive dissonance weve developed between our desire for the Lords return for us and our love of the life we enjoy here. The anxiety this creates in our sub-conscious has caused our longing for the next life to be diminished relative to our desire for the Lord to restore this life to its former levels of enjoyment. To a degree, this is understandable. For the past 65 years or so the US has been the most preferred place to live anywhere on Earth. Even people who hate America have dreamed of living here. The benefits of American life have been as generous as they have been numerous. Average Americans have typically enjoyed a standard of living thats beyond the reach of even the privileged few in many countries.By contrast, the benefits of eternal life with the Lord are undefined and dont seem real to many. For them, the phrase pie in the sky by and by defines the extent of their understanding. I see evidence of this in the letters I get from well meaning people who are afraid well be confined to the New Jerusalem, as some have put it, and wont be able to visit the Earth weve grown to love. Others are concerned there wont be enough room for all of us there, and still others cant imagine how their new life could be as nice as their current one. If they knew what the Bible says they would have no such concerns.Whose Fault Is That? This lack of knowledge is due primarily to the Churchs terrible failure to teach believers about the blessings of the life to come. After all, it is the fulfillment of our lifes purpose. Therefore I guess it shouldnt come as a surprise that asking God to save our country is a more popular thing to do than preparing to be taken away to begin our eternal adventure with Him. For many of us, returning to the good old days here seems like a better deal than longing for the bliss that lies ahead. But while the Lord never promised to save the USA, He did promise a reward to all who long for His appearing. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that dayand not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing(2 Tim. 4:8)I often wonder how bad things will have to get before people stop dreaming about the past here and start yearning for our future there. I guess time will tell.To use Ezekiels words, The American way of life has become an idol weve set up in our hearts. Weve become double minded because of it and if the Lord isnt already doing so, Hell soon be wondering if He should even let us pray to Him about it. And remember, no matter how beautiful and desirable something appears to us, if it interferes with our whole-hearted desire to follow Gods will its an idol and a wicked stumbling block from His perspective.Asking Him to extend our time here rather than hasten the day of our departure is a clear sign that were not loving Him as He has loved us. It means we havent given ourselves completely to Him. When push comes to shove we dont really want to put aside our plans for the future in favor of His. Weve enjoyed our time here too much and dont want to leave just yet. When Are We Going To Learn?Paul said everything that was written in the past was written to teach us (Romans 15:4). One lesson we should learn from our study of the Old Testament is that when Israel lined up behind Gods will He blessed them beyond all measure. But when they positioned themselves in opposition, His response was to take away everything they desired more than Him until He was all they had left. It doesnt take a whole lot of imagination to see that happening in the US today. (Maybe the best way to make life easier for ourselves now is to abandon our version of the future and get behind His.)According to Bible Prophecy Gods plan for our times is to completely destroy all the nations to which His people have been scattered (Jeremiah 30:11) and give Israel the Kingdom He promised them. In the process Hell restore Heaven and Earth to provide them with a life thats vastly superior to anything theyve ever experienced. But before He can begin these things, He has promised to take the Church to a place filled with wealth and happiness beyond measure where we can be protected from the wrath thats coming against the unbelieving world (Isaiah 26:20-21, John 14:2-3).Saying that we want to be raptured before things get bad on one hand, but praying that He will heal our land so we can enjoy a few more years of the good life on the other is as clear a case of cognitive dissonance as Ive ever seen. Its a wonder He doesnt just shake His head in utter amazement and walk away forever. But He wont. Ready or not Hell come one day soon and whisk us all away to our mansions in the sky. Hell do that, not because weve longed for it to happen, but because He promised He would. He is God after all. He cant do anything else. You can almost hear the footsteps of the Messiah. 06-23-12http://gracethrufaith.com/end-times-prophecy/cognitive-dissonance/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Gracethrufaith+%28GraceThruFaith%29

Romans 12:1, Matthew 5:23First Be ReconciledNAU Matthew 5:23 "Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.

Romans 12:1-2, Deny Yourself And Take Up Your Cross Believer To FollowerFriday, July 4th, 2014Christian LifeQ.I have a question about verse Luke 9:23. Is this verse talking about sanctification? or eternal salvation? And finally, what are we to deny ourselves? Thank you for your time.A.Luke 9:23says,If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.After salvation, this is the most important message of the Gospel. If we want to be a follower of Jesus we should set aside our selfish ambitions for life and seek His will for us instead. Thats what the phrase deny himself and take up his cross daily means. InRomans 12:1-2Paul urged us to offer our whole beings as living sacrifices to God. He said we should no longer conform to the pattern of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. The way he might say this today is that we should abandon our secular world view and adopt a Biblical world view instead.InMatt. 6:31-34Jesus put this still another way. He urged us to seek His Kingdom and His righteousness and in return He would accept responsibility for all of our needs. In short, the Lord has a purpose for our life and if we give Him permission, Hell fulfill that purpose in us and make sure we dont have to worry about anything along the way. You have my assurance that you wont find a better deal anywhere. As you look around you, its easy to see that most Christians dont do this, so it cant be a salvation issue. Its something you can only do after youre born again. It turns you from being a believer into a being a follower, from living a defeated secular life into living a victorious Christian life (1 Cor. 9:24-25). In doing do you will bear much fruit (John 15:5) and store up much treasure in heaven (Matt. 6:19-21).

Romans 12:1-2 How Do I Renew My Mind?Saturday, March 22nd, 2014Christian LifeQ.I understand that it is Gods Will that I be sanctified. And I understand from Romans 12:1-2 that I am transformed by renewing my mind. How do I renew my mind so all the Spiritual Gifts in my spirit can be released ? I understand that until I do this, my mind remains with the leftover old programming from my old nature ! My biggest area of defeat is my emotions and anger in particular. Thank you so much for this web site and all your sound spiritual advice.A.InRomans 12:1-2Paul admonished us to offer our whole being as a living sacrifice. This means yielding completely to the Lord, retaining none of the autonomous control we are used to exercising over our lives. We are not to conform any longer to the self-centered humanistic tendencies that have governed our actions in the past, but are to be totally submissive to the Lords will for us. As for what His will for us is and how weve been gifted to accomplish it, well discover that as we yield ourselves to the Holy Spirits guidance.InEphesians 4:22-24Paul explained this as making the choice to put off our old selves and being made new in the attitudes of our mind. This implies we have a choice about our behavior. We can refuse to continue to behave in the manner were accustomed to, choosing instead to behave in a way thats pleasing to the Lord.Ephesians 4:25-32gives some specific examples to consider. Some of our old behavior is so deeply ingrained that it seems like weve always been this way. Paul referred to this behavior as an enemy stronghold. In2 Cor. 10:3-5he said weve been given weapons with divine power and can demolish these strongholds by taking our thoughts captive and making them obedient to Christ. All this is easier said than done, but with the Holy Spirits guidance anyone can accomplish it.http://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/how-do-i-renew-my-mind/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Gracethrufaith+%28GraceThruFaith%29
